TLDR: long time Kobo user, Clara BW screen broke, now happily part of the BOOX family, how do I get dictionaries to work ?

My Kobo Clara BW screen recently broke whilst in my backpack (im assuming it got pinned under something else) and I was pretty bummed about it. Wasnt sure if it was damage that would allow me to still use the unit but after a while of receiving phantom touches it became abundantly clear that it was a death blow. Repairing it with the ifixit kit costs around 75% of the unit (more on that later), so I decided to look elsewhere and do my favorite thing when buying new consumer products: dive into research mode. I watched all the videos and weighed the features of each e-reader against each other, considered going for a Libra but thought I'd use this as an opportunity to see what else is out there. I came down to a final 4:

• BigMe 6
• Palma
• Boox go 7
• Boox go 6

Bigme came out with a perplexing product (Hi Break Dual) during my decision- making research which honestly made me question their leadership and direction. Palma seemed a bit too similar to a phone and Boox go 6 was nice but my friend (who owns the Kindle oasis) recommended I give something with tactile page advance buttons a try. So I arrived on the Boox Go 7 (BW version -no need for color). I'll get a stylus later which will add to the flexibility of this e reader.

I was a kobo diehard for many years but there already are some basic things that boox surpasses kobo at like typing a note at regular speed on highlighted text. Kobo not being able to keep up with that did always bug me.

I will get my Kobo screen replaced in China at a fraction of the ifixit kit price and have it as a backup but for now enjoying my new BOOX.

I do have one question though, how do i get offline English dictionaries to work? I've tried putting the dictionary files under storage/dicts and they don't seem to appear in use.
