I had an idea for a shirt

I was at a Lorna Shore concert the other day. It was wild. Had to leave early because of the volume lol. Saw 749 people in Misfits tshirts. Made me think of making a shirt:

Avoided catastrophe? Or just paid for a good lesson?

Got my platinum about 6 months ago. Hired an electrician who sent one of his help to install a level 2 charger. "Saved" $300 by getting the charger above, despite warnings from the good people of this sub to avoid off brand units.

Charge stopped a few kw short the other day but I didn't really notice until I got out on the road.

Came back home to this situation. Upgrading to a hardwired solution and getting a more reputable brand of charger.

Every educational credit you earn costs something.

So it turns out Lorna Shore is not related.

These guys need to take it down about 20%.

First (very short) road trip in my 23 Platinum

I bought the truck mainly for the 25 mile commute to work every day. It has been better than I could have expected. Favorite vehicle I've ever had. Counting rentals and family members' rigs. It's amazing.

I took my boys to KC this weekend for the Austria Algeria match. It was a banger. Thought I would share some of the things that stuck out to me on this 200ish mile trip with my first on the road charging.

I charged to 100% for the ride there. Didn't have to stop. Arrived at the Airbnb with 19%. Truck reported 2.0 efficiency.

Blue Cruise worked about 80% of the route. Me and BC have a different opinion on where in the lane one should cruise. I feel like it chooses the side of the lane closest to any car going the same direction in the nearest lane to me. It's super weird.

Picked an Airbnb that had an EV charger. It was level 2 but it was for the smaller ford vehicles and charged at 3.1. Luckily I carry the larger one and used it to get to 7.5 or so.

I was basically the cab driver for my boys. They are huge soccer fans and also wanted to hang out with the visiting fans in the power and light district. I did a lot of "idling" throughout the trip including the entire match (I snuck into the Uber line lol). Idling is sort of a superpower for these trucks. Comfy. Great climate control. Great B&O sound. No gas smell. And the fuel burn is so minimal.

I wanted to test a Tesla supercharger but had an odd experience at the one at Bass Pro shops outside of independence. I pulled in. There were like 16 spots. And maybe 10 of them were full of Teslas. Before I even got parked one came up and knocked on my window. "This is for Teslas only, it's a software setting." I was like, I've never charged out on the road but I've got an adapter and I heard it would work with the superchargers. "Nope." Ok. So a rivian charger was a mile away and I went, used the same adapter and got it to purr at 173.5. Went from 30% to 80% in very little time.

Ride home was into a headwind the whole way which was odd because I was heading basically south. That reduced efficiency to 1.2, so I needed to fuel up on the highway. Flying J had a really nice setup. Charging was super fast. The headwind made a HUGE difference. I would not have made it home without the fast charger. Crazy the difference the trips were.

The truck is so baller. The highway drive over a long haul would obviously require more stops but charging wasn't bad and stretching the old legs out isn't a terrible thing to do.

The Tesla gatekeeping was either weird or nice. But the Rivian spot was very nice.

Anyway, my two grown sons (6'5" and 6'2") had plenty of room and were very comfortable and impressed with the rig.

Switched from Platinum to Tremor wheels

Ride home was smoother. Hard to tell on range yet, but seemed similar. But I love the look. No lift or level. About to sell my Platinum wheel setup with 5,700 miles on them. Along with sensors and spare. What's fair? Anyway, love this truck and now love the look even more.

Climate Roulette

I have decided to enjoy the unpredictable nature of my climate settings. Seat heat on! Driver focused! Seat AC. 80degrees! No, back to seat heat!

It seems like no matter how I have things set, when I get back in, it's totally new. Maybe a bingo card situation.

Had a thought. Meta EV approach

I have the ProPower onboard and was thinking of grabbing a foldable ebike so I can park near work and ride in the rest of the way. I can keep the bike charged in the bed of the truck, which has a bed cover on it. That would help me move toward peak laziness. I think I'll do it.

Truck Stuff

Helping a buddy move his father in law and made some days brighter with some frunk cooled Gatorade cans. Just normal truck behavior.

I've got a fairly decent sized yard for a push . Probably close to a third of an acre. Maybe a little more than that. I've had this mower for a couple of weeks. The orange flashing light with the "!" Comes on about five times each time I mow. What is going on? Should I make the trade up to the 1000? Is the power that much better?
