My Grandma’s Home Crew

My late grandmother went to a one-room school house. She started first grade as the only girl in the first grade class. Her classmates were four boys.
Fast forward 85 years and she moved into a very nice assisted living center. Every night, she would go down to have dinner at her table with her friends— the exact same four boys she started school with. I think they all had a good time at their nightly class reunion.

Feeling natural this week

Retail Brand: KISS Core style : Your Moment — super short square, but I shaped them down to look super natural. But bad news, folks— I discovered Etsy nail shops. Oh my Lordt. This could get ugly.

Next up: Glamnetics short oval (trimmed & filed)

Love this color. It’s called “Sherbert” (yes, spelled weird like that). These seem sturdy, but are curved so much they leave a little gap on my nail tips so I don’t know how they will wear. They aren’t uncomfy, just rigid enough they gap a little. These have a glue tab on the nail itself, but because of the odd fit I added a DOONAILS tab to two of them that didn’t take right at first. I will let you know how they wear. They are pretty though! Retail brand: glamnetics: short oval— but trimmed & filed

Retail brand: Olive & June: Short Oval

RETAIL BRAND: Olive & June: Short Oval
People. I have never in my 60 years had nice nails. I couldn’t stand the feel of acrylics, gels were so very destructive, and I was too hard on a standard mani to be worth my time or money. But my nails lately have been splitting so badly (it’s an age thing. Ugh) that I had to do something. I love these. The glue tabs are super easy to use, they stay for a good solid week, and best of all— this is my third set (also love Doo Nails) and in between I give my nails a day of rest and my natural nails are actually healthier and stronger looking than they have ever been in my life.
LOL Nobody IRL is as excited as I am over these so thanks for letting me show these off.

How Dad Learned to Use a Broom

Dad’s been gone over ten years now, but today this little pointless story popped into my head.

He was telling me once that he remembered having a health class with a textbook in maybe the 2nd grade. Keep in mind he was born in Oklahoma in 1935 smack in the middle of the dust bowl, and the books would not have been new, so this totally tracks.

He said there was a picture of a boy sweeping the floor and the book told the kids “Ask your mother to show you how to sweep the floor without raising more dust. It is important for girls and boys to know how to do it right.”

He said he figures that was when he decided boys could do stuff inside the house as well as girls. (He was unbelievably feminist for an old
farm boy.) I miss him every day.
