[Rolex] Restored my Great-Grandfathers Oyster he found in the 60s!

In the 1960's my Great Grandfather worked in a construction yard. He found this watch on the ground. When he brought it home, he swore it was not authentic. It was just too good to be true, who would leave a rolex at a construction site.

He never restored it, never wore it, it sat in a desk at his house.
In the 1980's my great grand father passed away and my grand father took the watch.
it was n left in the drawer for years.

When i was in 7th grade i found the watch at my grand parents, i told my grandpa...i wanted that watch, he said something like "Okay sunny boy" lol...

Fast forward today, im in my mid 30's. My grandpa passed away, and in his will, he wrote me the non authentic rolex.

Sad that he passed away although I was so excited to get my hands on this and confirm if this was real.
I took it to a local rolex mom and pop shop. They sent it out for restoration.

today i just got it back...and it came out amazing. The dial with the patina, the knick on the gold case, this watch has a story. They replaced the gaskets, main spring, crystal and confirmed this is a real rolex..which is something none of us expected...

Its a reference 6092 , with the 14k gold case. called the bombe lugs or something. Once i told my dad he said my grandpa would have gotten a real kick out of knowing...
That this watch that sat in a desk for 60 years....was a real rolex

EDIT:
This is my first Rolex, and love the story this watch has. Every time i look at it on my wrist I can't help but smile.

My great-grandfathers Rolex he found at a construction site in 1960's...finally restored

In the 1960's my Great Grandfather worked in a construction yard. He found this watch on the ground. When he brought it home, he swore it was fake. It was just too good to be true, who would leave a rolex at a construction site.

He never restored it, never wore it, it sat in a desk at his house.
In the 1980's my great grand father passed away and my grand father took the watch.
He once again, swore it was fake, left in the drawer for years.

When i was in 7th grade i found the watch at my grand parents, and once again, heard the story "its a fake dont get too excited." But i told my grandpa...i wanted that watch, he said something like "Okay sunny boy" lol...

i wanted that watch so bad and my grand parents knew that.

Fast forward today, im in my mid 30's. My grandpa passed away, and in his will, he wrote me the fake rolex.

Sad that he passed away although I was so excited to get my hands on this and confirm if this was real.
I took it to a local rolex mom and pop shop. They sent it out for restoration.
