It finally happened

I’ve been running with periods of consistency and inconsistency since 2019, and this is the first time I’ve achieved an Excellent VO2 Max (according to Garmin). I’m going to be 43 in October, and I am so so proud of this.

I am finally starting to run sub 6:00 kms, and I’m hoping to finally accomplish a sub 30:00 5k this summer.

Wish me luck!

Not stoked about canines

I’m on 3/4 of refinements for black triangles, which seem to need a bit more work.

In my rescan for this round, I mentioned I didn’t like the way my upper canines were angled in and tucked right in against my lowers. My provider said he could fix that for me.

When the refinement trays came in, I looked at the last one when I got home, and my lateral incisors and canines actually got pushed in a little. I’m pretty sure he unfortunately forgot to make that adjustment. Because of this I just feel like my first molars and especially central incisors are just so prominent and unbalanced, and my arch is still quite triangular compared to my lower.

Honestly, if I hadn’t dropped so much money, I’d probably be happier to end like this since the major issues have been fixed, but if refinements are included in the giant sack of money I put into this, I’m going to ask for another round of refinements.

They just need to be flared out a tiny bit and I’ll be SO happy to be done.

I forgot to take a before photo without trays, but for reference I started with a bilateral posterior cross bite, and central incisor crowding. My arch was very triangle shaped.

Ibuprofen

I was in total denial that Ibuprofen was at all affecting my asthma. After a bunch of stomach issues recently, I cut out Advil because I knew regular long term use could mess up your stomach. Within a couple of days of quitting Ibuprofen and switching to acetaminophen for pain things, I am having far fewer daily symptoms.

I’ve also noticed my breathing is easier while running, and have been having better runs, and not having post run symptoms as often. (I do pre-medicate but often had breakthrough symptoms post run)

Ibuprofen doesn’t completely mess me up, so I still keep for situations I know it works better than Tylenol, like injuries or cramps, but I will definitely use it less frequently.

I stopped following a plan

I’m 42 years old, and have been semi consistently running for about 6 or 7 years. About 5 weeks ago I cancelled my Runna, stopped following any kind of structured running plan whatsoever, and started running to feel - distance, pace and frequency - and I am now enjoying running more than I ever have.

Also my pace is improving, my VO2 max is steadily increasing, my heart rate isn’t going so high so quickly anymore, and Garmin says my runs are Productive. I’ve also been naturally losing weight without being hungry for the first time in my life, and my asthma isn’t kicking up post-run like it used to.

I kept feeling like a failure because my often wacky work schedule was preventing from being consisten and sticking to my plan. I re started Runna plans at least a dozen times but could never complete them.

Sometimes it helps to let go I guess. Maybe I’ll build towards a goal in the future, but I have genuinely found the joy of running by not trying so hard.

First 20 done!

Finished my first 20, and now waiting on refinement trays. They think it’ll be fewer than 10. 🤞

Apparently it was impressive how well my teeth moved considering my age. I was obsessively compliant, so that probably helped. My teeth tracked really well almost the entire time.

Pretty happy so far, but looking forward to not having to plan coffee and meals, and set timers. Haha.

Holo Taco Iron Violet

It looked so much more blue in the bottle, and was worried I got a bad one or something. Nope, perfectly purple. Reminds of chrome polishes I would have worn in the early 2000s.

Best feature is that brush strokes vanish when it dries, and touch ups blend in. It’s a pretty amazing formula.
