With VR gaming's current state , for IEYTD series and Schell games survival the next I Expect You to Die needs to be 007: I Expect You to Die — a MGM x Schell Games collaboration.
If Schell Games wants to turn a profit on a fourth I Expect You to Die installment, they have two choices: either reduce the budget—which would directly hurt the game’s quality, especially after the third game’s high-action, high-budget set pieces—or partner with MGM on a James Bond license.
From the very beginning, the series has been heavily inspired by Bond. Even the title comes from the famous 1964 Goldfinger line: "Mr. Bond, I expect you to die."
That said, the escape-room format doesn't entirely lend itself to this idea. The game would need to become more flexible in its design. Ideally, only about 40% of the game should be puzzles; the rest should include shooting, maybe stealth, and even driving—similar to the "Blind Spot" sequence in I Expect You to Die 3.
