It’s been almost 10 days with no word. Professor u/dogmetal and the trusty Stencil will hopefully resurface soon.

My graduate student has been unable to narrow the frequency range for communications through “The Vex” that Stencil appears to have entered.

We’ve reached out to an artisan to construct a larger frensel accumulator for the ultimar wave sequence-bias throupler, so that we might scan for emanations from The Vex, but in the meantime: has anybody received any transmissions, smoke signals, singing telegrams, carrier pigeons, e-mails?

I hesitate to reach out to colleagues in transjordan, their safety may be in question.

Alright, I know the weight weenies are gonna come for me, but I’m officially over it.

Spent the weekend at Sweetwater and Kennesaw (absolute zoo, btw), and once again I’m out here babying my pack like it’s made of glass. I shouldn’t have to worry about a zipper blowing out or a strap snapping just because I brushed past a root.

North GA is not UL-friendly terrain. Rocks, humidity, thick brush — that paper-thin stuff just doesn’t hold up here.

At this point I’m going back to gear that’s built like a tank. I don’t care if it’s an extra pound or two. I want something I can actually use without thinking about it every five minutes.

Anyone else feeling this, or am I just done with UL?

Also — Atlanta folks: where are you going lately to avoid the crowds? I just want a quiet spot to drink my French press without a constant stream of people walking by my “secret” spot.
