So MS target price is 28% below APLD all time high and yet APLD continues to deliver compared to most.

Btw I do own WULF so I’m not hating on other stocks it just seems like they are bullish WULF CIFR but not APLD??

Are data centers becoming one of the most misunderstood issues in the AI debate?

Lately, the biggest criticism seems to be water consumption. Some communities are pushing back against new data center projects because of concerns about local water resources, power usage, and environmental impact. Those concerns aren't imaginary. Large data centers do consume significant amounts of water and electricity, especially in certain cooling configurations.

At the same time, supporters argue that today's technology isn't where we'll be tomorrow. New cooling methods, including advanced liquid cooling systems and other innovations, could dramatically reduce water usage over time. If AI continues to advance, efficiency improvements will likely become a major focus.

What interests me most isn't the technology itself—it's the politics around it.

Over the next few years, with midterm elections and another presidential election approaching, I can see data centers and AI becoming a political talking point. It's easy to imagine campaigns built around themes like corporate influence, environmental concerns, and whether large technology companies have too much power over public policy.

My question is whether that political pressure actually changes the long-term outcome.

Personally, I suspect it may slow things down temporarily, but not stop them. AI increasingly looks like a matter of economic competitiveness and national security. Once a technology reaches that level of strategic importance, governments tend to regulate and shape it rather than prevent it.

What I struggle with is the personal side of the equation.

Like many people, I sometimes wonder how I should feel about investing in technologies that could eventually replace jobs, reshape society, and create consequences we don't fully understand. Yet I also feel a responsibility to prepare for the future rather than ignore it.

So I'm curious what others think:

Is the water debate around data centers a legitimate long-term concern or an issue that technology will largely solve?

Could political and public pressure create a meaningful slowdown in AI development, even if only temporarily?

Is it contradictory to recognize the risks of AI while continuing to invest in and support its growth?

New here.

I’m new and I do not currently hold a position in CLSK but it has caught my attention again. I used to own this stock and sold it before it dipped. Below is my bear and bull case. I would like to read more from people who may have more knowledge on this stock than me.

CLSK is one of the more interesting BTC miner/AI infrastructure plays right now because the real asset may not be the mining business — it’s the contracted power capacity.

Bull case:

AI/HPC demand is exploding and power is becoming the bottleneck.

CLSK already has large amounts of secured power and energized sites, which could become extremely valuable if hyperscalers need faster deployment.

BTC mining may simply be a bridge strategy that monetizes power while they negotiate AI/HPC deals.

If CLSK lands a major hyperscaler contract, the market could rerate it from “bitcoin miner” to “digital infrastructure/AI” company.

Bear case:

CLSK is still overwhelmingly a bitcoin miner today.

They do NOT yet have major public hyperscaler contracts like some competitors.

Not all power is equal — some sites may work great for mining but not for premium AI workloads due to power cost, location, fiber access, cooling, uptime requirements, etc.

Converting mining infrastructure into true HPC data centers is extremely expensive and could lead to dilution.

Main concern:

Does CLSK continue mining because it’s strategically waiting for AI contracts… or because the infrastructure/power economics are not attractive enough yet for hyperscalers?

Possible answers:

Management may simply be avoiding overbuilding before securing tenants.

Mining currently provides immediate cash flow while AI buildouts take years.

Some sites may need major upgrades before becoming hyperscaler-ready.

The market likely wants signed contracts before fully believing the AI pivot story.

My takeaway:

CLSK feels like a transition story. Huge upside if they successfully convert power assets into AI/HPC infrastructure, but if they fail to secure meaningful tenants the stock probably trades mostly like a cyclical bitcoin miner again.
