Omada Network and VLANs for home - bit confused...

Hey. I'm building out a home network based on the Omaha stack as a replacement for my old Deco based mesh system. I've bought an ER707-M2 router / gateway, an OC200 controller, an EAP723 AP and a Omada PoE switch. I'm not a network engineer (storage engineer!) but I know the basics.

I've commissioned the system and adopted all the devices. All looks good and I've created a default SSID (which is what I'm connecting to now!)

What I'd like to do is separate out some traffic using VLANs. For example I have some a work laptop and phone that I want to keep separate from the rest of the my home devices while maintaining internet access. However I'm a bit confused.

I believe by default I've given a flat network ("Default" / VLAN 1).If I add a new VLAN (let's call it "Work" on VLAN50) the GUI tells me I need to assign ports on my router / switch to proceed. I did select an unused port on my switch but I gather it will configure the rest of the ports as trunk ports - which will I'm worried will lock me out (I'm connecting to the OC200 via a desktop PC connected to the router).

Is there an idiots guide to do this? I don't want to overly complicate things (which is why I intended to keep most stuff on the default VLAN 1) - I just want to partition off some devices from the rest of my network while letting them have internet access.

Grey imports and warranty / support

I’ve made the decision to move my home network to the Omada platform and have bought a bunch of bits to get me started. These include an AP, a PoE switch, an OC200 management box and an Er707-M2 router.

I’ve bought them all from Amazon (mainly because I’ve got some gift cards to use) and I’m excited to get started.

However I didn’t realise when ordering that the router was sold by a third party. It’s arrived with a European (rather than UK) plug. I’ve reached out to support who have advised that the seller is not an authorised distributor and I should return it.

In practical terms what’s the impact of this beyond needing to get a plug adaptor? In particular am I likely to face any issues with firmware updates, support etc?

Returning the device is going to be a pain so I’d rather avoid it if I can.

Appreciate any insight anyone can give.

Powercut and all matter devices offline in Home Smart

Hi. I was having some electrical work done recently which knocked the power off in my house for an hour. When it came back, it's knocked off all my Ikea matter devices (mix of Kajplats bulbs and Grillplats plugs). I've tried to reset the Dirigera hub with no change.

Older Zigbee based devices came back just fine.

However the devices are showing in my home assistant install which makes me think there's something up with my thread network.

Has anyone had this issue and managed to resolve it?

Intelligent Go, Zappi chargers and using excess solar

I had solar and battery installed recently and the recent weather has meant loads of excess solar generation. My registration isn't setup yet for export so for the moment all this energy is wasted.

Question: can I push the excess solar to my EV automatically?

I can /make/ this work by going in the Zappi app, setting charging mode to ECO+ and then boosting it. However I have to manually throttle the charging to be under what my panels are generating.

Is there a way to make this work on Intelligent Go? The Zappi can see the excess being returned to the grid so I think CT clamps are in the right place.

TLDR: Looking for a way for my Zappi EV charger to automatically charge my EV when power is being returned to the grid in a way that is compatible with Intelligent Go.
