I'm Zander Cook, co-founder of Lease End. I used to run finance at my family's dealership, and we've now helped with nearly 70,000 lease buyouts. Ask me anything about leasing, buyouts, or the auto industry!

Hey everyone, Zander here. Before Lease End, I was a finance manager at my family's car dealership. I saw how frustrating end-of-lease could be. People got stacks of paperwork, vague answers about their buyout price, and a lot of trips back and forth to the dealership. Our dealership group started testing lease buyouts nationwide. That turned into Lease End, where we've worked on making the buyout process something you can handle online without the runaround.

I'll be answering live Tuesday, October 6, from 9am to 3pm MT.

Drop your questions now and I'll get to as many as I can. Ask me about:

- How to tell if your leased car has equity
- When a buyout makes sense numbers-wise and when it doesn't
- Lease buyout loans and interest rates (take this as practical advice, not financial advice)
- Getting out of a lease early
- What actually happens on the dealership side of a lease
- Starting a tech company in the auto industry
- Anything else you're curious about & I'll do my best

9 things to do before your lease ends (or 1 if you're keeping it)

(Of course, the first three items are worth doing no matter what. Knowing your mileage, your residual value and how your car's market value compares to the residual tells you whether keeping it makes sense financially.)

For a lot of people convenience is as big a factor as the price.

Curious what you all ran into: what was the most annoying part of ending a lease? Was it an inspection surprise, or just finding the time to deal with it?

I leased a 2026 VW Jetta and entered it in a demolition derby

Freaking love this video our creative team put together. We won three heats in the race. The car called 911. The dealer was not pleased. Lmk what questions you have about what it was like as a passenger in the vehicle (lol) or any other Qs about this crazy thing we did at Lease End

I was interviewed by The Zebra for their recent article on EVs in light of increased gas prices. Sharing my quote here and I'm curious if anyone in our community wants to weigh in with a contrasting opinion..bonus points if you've gone the EV route and found it advantageous (or not).

https://www.thezebra.com/resources/driving/are-electric-cars-worth-it/

Per Cook, the best candidates for purchasing an EV are drivers who own their own home, have a predictable daily commute under 60 miles, and live in an area with reasonable charging infrastructure.

“That profile allows you to maximize the cost advantages of home charging while minimizing range anxiety,” he says. “Drivers who frequently take long road trips, live in apartments without charging access, or need towing capacity are still better served by hybrids or gas vehicles, at least for now.”
