Moonlighter 2 - Switch 2 Performance Update still has slow loading times

I posted about the performance of the Switch 2 Demo for Moonlighter 2 when it was released on August 6th and today after 12 days, we got an update for the demo. Previous post >

The game is now in version 1.0.32 and it's a major improvement in the game's framerate.

Here are my observations:

  • Moving in town is now fluid and probably close to a fixed 60fps.
  • The game in dungeons runs also at a 60fps target.
  • I didn't encounter any stutters in town or dungeons.
  • The loading times are still too slow, with 22 seconds to load in or out of the shop.
  • The game crashed and exited to the console menu on the first dungeon I started after the update, the second one worked with any issue.
  • The character and particule effects (opening chests for example) look lower resolution than they should.
  • The game seem to look less soft than it was but now there's visible aliasing.

The before/after is based on memory, so this isn't exact. The game is in a better state now, but I think there's still so progress to make to make this a great port.

What do you think?

It's already Sold Out even before the release time

Did anyone here managed to get one?

Edit: it's in Stock now, it was Sold Out when I checked but I managed to place an order right now.
Edit 2: White is Sold Out but Black is still available.
Edit 3: Both are sold out for the available stock but you can pre-order next batch which will ship in February 2027.

Switch 2 demo performance issues

I was so happy when I saw that the demo on Switch 2 was out!

I initially tested the game docked and performance seems good. Textures are a bit soft so there's room for improvement but the art direction make it a beautiful game.

I then undocked the console and it became a very different story. The game isn't able to keep a stable 30fps. During combat while on the very first level, performance is poor. I can't imagine later levels. And in town it might be even worse. Just moving the character makes the game lag.

It a very regular stutter in motion, it's never reaching 30fps.

This game need a performance patch before release. I nearly pre-ordered while demo was downloading, I'm glad I waited!

What's performance on your end? You noticed the same issues?

Edit: I forgot to mention loading times! I think they are a bit too long. Splatoon Raiders load faster and seems more demanding visually.

My amiibo sync tool is out of beta, thanks to everyone who tested it

Hi everyone, I posted here last week about a tool I was building to sync amiibo dump files to an Allmiibo or pixl.js device and see which ones you're missing. A few of you DM'd me and tried it out, so thank you, that really helped and a good number of bugs got fixed because of it.

It's at 1.0 now and I'm allowed to share the link directly this time:
https://allmiibo.mathieu.dev

Short version: you point it at a folder on your computer, it reads what's on your device, and it syncs the two. It also lists every amiibo with artwork so you can see your completion rate and what's still missing. It recognises them from the file contents, so it doesn't matter what your files are called.

A fair bit arrived in the week since. It reads all-in-one library files now, it can tidy a messy device into proper series folders, and there's a repair mode for when a folder gets so big the device can't finish listing it. That last one came from someone whose device had stopped syncing entirely.

Usual caveats. You need Chrome or Edge for the Bluetooth part (Firefox and Safari can still browse your collection). It's slow, roughly a second per amiibo, because the devices are slow. And I've still only really tested on my own Allmiibo, so I don't know how it behaves on everything else.

It's open source, it doesn't come with any amiibo files or keys, and nothing is uploaded anywhere. There's no server and no account, it all runs in your browser. Code is here: https://github.com/mahoudeau/allmiibo-sync

Happy to hear about anything that breaks or any feature you might want to see added :)

I built a tool to sync amiibos dump files and check the completion rate of your collection

Hi everyone, I've been using an Allmiibo device and i always found it slow and not easy to update when you have to sync each dump one by one in your browser.

I decided to build an open source tool to ease the pain and let anyone check which amiibos they're missing and sync a local folder to their device.

I tested it on my Allmiibo and I don't know if it would work the same on other devices.

If anyone is willing to test it and help me check if it works on they're own device, DM me and I'll gladly share a link.

I don't know if I can share a link here directly so that's why I ask for the DM. If I'm allowed to share the link, I'll do it. This isn't a sketchy attempt, the code is public in the Github repo listed in the footer of the page.

Thanks for your help :)
