What do you call this type of ring, and could it be from the 60's?

I bought this 14k gold opal pendant, from a big pre-owned jewelry shop.
It has a tiny inclusion, and I think that the shop has no idea of this kind of opal.
I got it for 140 is dollars.
I dont think its a doublet, but could be wrong.
Any thoughts
