Completely new to the concept of Jailbreaking a PS3. Have some questions about what I can do with jailbroken PS3.

I just learned about the concept of Jailbreaking a PS3 and I would like to do just that to my PS3 that I don't really use very often (especially with the PSN being shut down for it i the next year).

I've read up a little on the topic and wanted to ask humans about if my expectations of what I could do with my PS3 are realistic.

So here we go - all questions with a "..." have a start of "If I jailbreak my PS3..."

  1. ... Can I still use it to play my PS3 disc games?

  2. ... Can I use it as en emulator? My research suggests it can be used as an emulator for older consoles (SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, and probably handheld consoles as well, such as PSP, or GameBoy). [I understand some may have unforeseen limitations]

  3. ... Can I use it to play my PS2 disc games? I have the original fat version of the PS3, and it's never been able to play PS2 games natively.

  4. ... Could I effectively use it as an emulator for PS3 games too? If I didn't have a PS3 disc for a certain game, could I find files for it elsewhere and use that to play the game? (Not asking to find a place to get such files, just that if it can be used in this way).

  5. How difficult is it to get it set up to use emulators/play PS2/3 discs? I'm not a novice when it comes to main line computers, but I know very little about how other electronic devices work (especially consoles).

  6. What other additional things may I not be considering based on the 5 above questions?

I appreciate any info anyone can give me. This is completely new territory for me, and I think I would really enjoy using my PS3 in the ways I think i could use it for, but I want to make sure it's possible before I start messing around with it and potentially brick it.

Is there a way to back up my save data from a game?

Hello, I have an annoying issue. I play this game called Tower War and love this game and I actually play a specific version of this game (it's from 2024 or something like that) and I play it exclusively on my backup phone/device.

Today, however, the app updated itself to the most recent version (I'm sure Google Play switched settings on me without me noticing) and I've tried to just deal with it and play the game on the most recent version, but it's so different and I just want it back to how I want it.

However, I've spent nearly a year playing the game and I made a ton of progress that just takes a long time to do. I really want to reinstall the older version of the app, but to do that I have to first uninstall the version I have, which means I will lose all that progress I've made over the past year.

So, my question is, is there a way I could extract just the save data from the app, copy it somewhere else (like on my PC), then install the older version of the app, and then import the save somehow into the now "clean" version of the app?

I've tried on my primary device to see if there's a cloud sync option on the old version of the app (the newer version does allow this), but that won't work. The older version doesn't have that functionality.

I feel like this is the only way I'll be able to maintain my save data.
