As the title suggests I'm looking for honest feedback on the first two chapters of my WIP.

It's an urban fantasy following Elias in a magic filled world when all he wants is a life without any magic.

I'm looking for some honest feedback on the first chapter of the first draft of my new project. (~2000 words)

Blurb:

Set in 1982 NYC where magic exists and is widespread. Two eighteen-year-olds who just aged out of an orphanage downtown find a child who ruins their entire life.

Do not go easy. I want to improve my writing. Appreciate any eyes on it
