What do you think the number one cause(s)of bites with no takeoff/hook while catfishing is/are?
The main ones I can think of are hook size, bait size, and rarely sharpness of the hook.
Hook size and bait size, you pretty much run into the same issue. Then again, it’s kind of the purpose. In my experience, you can select for a the size you’re fishing for with the bait and hook. I know that seems obvious. But with that, the size of the bait seems to be the more important of the two. Smaller fish just come up and try to take part of it that’s just hanging as opposed to a bigger fish just gobbling it up.
I guess that’s it, that’s my number one cause. Fish too small for the size of your bait and hook.

After posting this, I ended up catching basically 25lbs of fish and limited out.
