McChicken vs Chicken Royal Burgers

McChicken vs Chicken Royal Burgers

Just thought it would be an interesting series putting similar burgers and items from fast food places to find the best macros so you can fit more into the 1200 a day.

I even had a look at McDonald’s “healthy wrap” which is 593 calories 🤯 you could eat a double cheese burger, 3x nuggets, a frozen coke and STILL add tomato sauce and be under by 18 calories?? Never understand how these chicken wraps get advertised as healthy?

Aussie dev here, I built a food tracker and I'm giving out free codes if anyone wants to try it and tell me what's rubbish about it

Hi everyone, I'm a solo developer based in Sydney. My app PineOS went on the App Store this week and I'd like some honest Aussie testers before I spend anything promoting it. Mods, please pull this down if it's not welcome here.

Half the reason I built it is that most trackers are built around American products. You scan something from the Woolies shelf and get nothing useful, or you get a US version of the product with different numbers. Mine reads the actual label off the manufacturer or retailer page when a product isn't known, checks the maths on it (kilojoules against calories, macro weights against total weight) and only keeps the answer if it adds up. Once one person fixes a product it's fixed for everybody after them.

Barcode scanning is free forever, no subscription. I don't think reading a label should cost anyone money, so it won't.

The feature I use most is describe. You type or say something like "chicken wrap with avocado and a bit of garlic sauce" and it becomes an editable log in a couple of seconds. There's a photo scan too if you'd rather just point the camera at your plate.

The part I'd most like feedback on is the coach. You can ask it something like "does a burger fit tonight" and it answers based on what you've actually logged this week rather than generic advice. Tell me honestly if that's useful or if it feels like a gimmick.

One thing that annoyed me in every other app: type 200g and it quietly swaps in a standard serving. Mine keeps whatever amount you enter and recalculates around it. There are streaks and achievements if you're into that, but nothing nags you.

Comment or send me a message and I'll send a code for 30 days free. No card needed, nothing renews on its own.

iPhone only for now. Cheers.

I’m building an Australian fast food macro app - Would love some input

Hey guys! For the last month I’ve been building a macro counting app called MacroMenu.

If this isn’t allowed let me know, sorry in advanced!

It occurred to me a month ago when I was hungry and standing in line at McDonalds and had 500 calories left for the day that there wasn’t an easy way to see item calories. All the signs have everything in Kilojules and I didn’t want to stand around converting them all.

Some days I have 800 calories left and I need to hit a protein goal with the calories also. I started building the app for myself but now I think it’s time to release a SUPER early beta test.

Not all photos are on there and some restaurants have items missing but it’s a proof of concept really, any design advice would be appreciated. It will eventually have most Australian food places and all photos and items will be on there.

Let me know what you think and for now it’s free but eventually there will be a free version and an upgrade version.

The site is called:

Macromenu.com.au

You can even add it as a home screen app for iOS and android users from the web version.

Thank you so much for having a look around!

Participants Needed - University of Sydney Psycho-Oncology Research: Endometrial Cancer Screening Perceptions amongst Women who have had or are considering Gastric Sleeve/Bariatric Surgery [Approved by Moderators]

Hi everyone,

My name is Yuyu Zhou, and I am a Psychology Honours student at the University of Sydney undertaking my Honours thesis within the Psycho-Oncology Co-operative Research Group (PoCoG): https://www.sydney.edu.au/science/our-research/research-centres/psycho-oncology-cooperative-research-group.html

We are conducting a qualitative study to explore perceptions and attitudes towards participating in Endometrial Cancer screening among females who have had bariatric/gastric sleeve surgery in the past, or who are considering this in the future.

The findings from this research will help inform the development of referral and screening practices for this at-risk population, as well as educational resources to support both patients and healthcare professionals. Hearing directly from the bariatric and gastric sleeve community is vital to develop clear, respectful communication strategies and improve screening pathways for women of all shapes and sizes.

If this study may be suitable for you, we would greatly appreciate your involvement.

If this study may be suitable for anyone you know, please circulate this information to your contacts or networks as this would help us greatly in reaching potential candidates.

Participants will be invited to complete a confidential semi-structured interview via Zoom which will take between 30-60 minutes. During the interview we will talk with you about why you had/are considering bariatric surgery, your experiences with health care professionals and/or screenings, your knowledge and perceptions of associated health/cancer risks, and your preferences and attitudes regarding health screenings and cancer screening programs.

If interested, please register your interest via this form (takes about 3-5 minutes), and we will contact you regarding arranging a suitable time for a Zoom: https://sydney.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3lyajCxTlRVcyA6

Key inclusion criteria include:

  • Women aged over 18 years living in Australia or New Zealand who have had bariatric/gastric sleeve surgery in the past or who are considering having it in the future
  • Able to speak and read English adequately to participate in a semi-structured interview
  • Willing to participate and provide written informed consent

The link and QR code to this form (above - which includes the detailed participant information statement and consent) can also be found in the flyer image.

Taking part in this study is completely voluntary. Your decision will not affect your current or future relationship with the researchers or anyone else at The University of Sydney. This project has been approved by the University of Sydney Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC 2026/HE000263).

If you have any questions, please contact me: Yuyu Zhou (yzho6774@uni.sydney.edu.au), or Professor Haryana Dhillon (haryana.dhillon@sydney.edu.au).

Thank you and kind regards,
Yuyu

Messina gelato calories

Does anyone know the rough calories per scoop for the Messina gelato flavours- not the fancy indulgent ones that would be very high.

But the original range like the strawberry gelato , mango gelato or vanilla. I can roughly assume it would be around 150-200 but does anyone know for sure the amounts?

5 cal fruit spread!

Just stumbled upon these low cal babies at Evelyn Faye health store (Melbourne). 5 cals for 20g - whaaaaat?! These are so good! $5.95 a jar and flavours are raspberry, strawberry, blueberry and apricot! Raspberry and apricot are my favourite and probably the closest to the real deal! If you know of any similar alternatives- please let me know. I love a good spoonful with a cuppa or p2b sando!
