After China and India, Insta360 X6 was FCC certified for USA

This year, there will be competition between DJI Osmo 360 II and Insta360 X6 (CINSABXA).

Bolder improvements are expected from X6 as there is more space for hardware upgrades.

Osmo 360 still needs lots of software upgrades and DJI is somehow sleeping on it, showing low interest and not communicating

Is a 360-degree camera worth buying in 2026? What are the biggest use cases today?

I'm considering buying a 360-degree camera this year, but I'm not sure if it's worth the investment compared to a traditional action camera.

I know they're used for travel and virtual tours, but I'm curious about real-world applications beyond content creation.

A few questions:

  • What are the biggest industries using 360-degree cameras today?
  • Are they mainly for YouTubers, or are businesses adopting them too?
  • Has AI made these cameras easier to use?
  • What features should someone prioritize before purchasing?
  • Do you think the market for 360-degree cameras will continue growing over the next decade?

I'd love to hear experiences from people who actually use them professionally or as hobbyists.

Proposal: Use more 360 Action Cams in your Freestyle-Videos!

I always thought this might make for some amazing footage, so I learned to fly decent enough to bring my idea to the test and as it turns out: With some work it's pretty freaking cool!

There are of course some caveats to this. You can run Insta360 Cams "naked" (or rather without a Battery at least) by just soldering an USB-C cable to your FC which brings them down to about 100g. Thats of course some noticeable weight and you can't really strip them any further, but also not unreasonable compared to other Action Cams and you can get a used Insta360 X2 like I used here for about the same price as an Action 2.

Don't get me wrong this will not be the setup where you try your craziest new lines, do you most risky tricks and explore the newest bando. But if you went to the same Bando for the third time this month: Why not challenge yourself in your go-to line with a little extra weight and get some crazy new shots in the process?

But to manage expectations: This is not an Avata 360 situation, "fly however take your shots afterwards". You got a bigass drone in your footage and some angles won't be very flattering or cool to watch. Worst case you got some pretty decent 200° FOV Footage in the front though and you can even track a chased car or bike if you stay behind it for example.

Regarding the Video: I've been training a lot, but I'm only doing FPV in general for about 3 months now and this is my third flight with a 5" so I know I suck, no need to point it out 😅

But thats why my proposal is: If you are some true Freestyle-Artist, why not challenge yourself? Sure you can be like the thousands of other Era 5" perfect weight distribution pilots doing the same crazy tower dives in your local bando as everyone else. Or you can really show off your skills, put on some extra weight and carve a new path of FPV-Content in the process 😁

I for once, would love to see what a REAL FPV-Pilot could do with the concept.

3d or 360?

Hey all.

I was in France last week. And did alot of cool stuff. I love cameras and drones so i record alot of stuff. I love to show my stuff to familie and all.

But i cant show them HOW everything is, how the scale is, how big something is, how deep a cliff is etc.. i was at the amount Blanc, and i did my best to capture it all... But. You simply "cant" show it...

So i was wondering, how can we capture this?

And now i am stuck.... What can i do? 360? 3d? Buy a vr headset?

What is the best way to let someone feel the depth?

Need help choosing: Insta360 Ace Pro 2 vs GO Ultra (bundle advice too)

Hey everyone, looking for some real‑world feedback. I’m stuck between the Ace Pro 2 and the GO Ultra, and I’m trying to make a decision while the current deals are still active.

Originally I was set on getting the Ace Pro 2, but once the GO Ultra dropped it definitely grabbed my attention. My main uses would be:

- Bike riding

- Volunteering at the animal shelter

- Everyday casual content

I’m deciding between the GO Ultra Creator Bundle or the Ace Pro 2 Xplorer Bundle (dual battery).

Here’s where I’m torn:

- I love the GO Ultra’s magnetic mounting and how small/low‑profile it is. Super convenient and doesn’t draw attention.

- But the Ace Pro 2 seems more rugged, more versatile, and from what I’ve seen the overall quality looks better.

- I also have big hands, so the Ace Pro 2 grip might just feel more natural for me.

I know the bundles come with different accessories and each one opens up different shooting styles, but I’d love to hear from people who own either camera — or ideally both.

Which bundle do you think offers the better overall experience?

Trying to lock in a decision soon so I don’t miss the deals.

Squeezing native 8K out of an old Insta360 X2. Workflow > Gear Hype! (With HDR experiment inside)

Everyone is constantly chasing the newest cameras, but I wanted to see how far you can push older gear in 2026.

I just released a Front vs. Back Row comparison of Mako at SeaWorld Orlando in 8K 60fps SDR. The source material was entirely shot on the old Insta360 X2.

Getting a clean 8K SDR master out of that older sensor takes a lot of sweat in post (heavy lifting done via Topaz AI and frame interpolation), but the clarity on Meta Quest 3 or Vision Pro is surprisingly good.

The HDR Experiment:

Out of curiosity, I also ran the footage through an intensive 1200-nits HDR pipeline. Honest result: With sensors older than the X5, forcing HDR just introduces too many artifacts. Standard SDR looks way cleaner here.

Since some might want to see the technical difference, I uploaded the HDR version as an unlisted link so you can compare them yourself.

I've put the links to both the main SDR video and the unlisted HDR test in the comments. Let me know what you think – are you constantly upgrading, or do you squeeze every bit of life out of your old rig?

Luna Ultra ... 360 photo test produces 28K (387MP) pano

The Insta360 Luna Ultra camera shoots 360 panos with in-camera stitching that produce a JPG of 8000x4000 using 19 shots. This is a test to see what the camera camera might be capable of producing if it could shoot a 360 pano pattern with the ability to save JPG + RAW of the individual shots for external stitching. It uses the Ultra Photo mode, 4x3 aspect ratio, 20 shots in a 2-5-6-5-2 shot per row pattern with the rows at +72, +36, 0, -36, -72. This produces a 28K pano stitching with PTGui. See link below for JPG + RAW files, Papywizard template, PTGui project file, and stitched panos at 8K, 16K and 28K.

Turn 360° video into an interactive 3D Tour, all in the browser

Been building a platform that converts 360 videos into fully navigable 3D tours you can share with a link.

The workflow is straightforward:

  1. Capture your 360 video: disable auto exposure and autofocus, move through the scene at 3 different height levels, and export with auto-stabilization turned OFF
  2. Upload your 360 video to captures.studio : a photorealistic 3D will be automatically generated
  3. Edit, cleanup, and enhance your generated 3D in our Editor
  4. Add interactive elements : images, video, spatial audio, 3D mesh, and more
  5. Set up your tour using multiple customizable viewpoints
  6. Hit publish and share the link : anyone can view it instantly in their browser

Would love to hear what the community thinks, especially from people already creating Matterport-style 3D tours using 360 cameras.

Try it at captures.studio

PS: If you want free reconstruction credits to test it out, feel free to DM me.

Real Time "Birds Eye View" to tablet/iPad?

Possible anyone has looked into using a 360 cam to create a standalone ~real time Birds Eye view or simliar functionality on a vehicle like a SXS/UTV ? Ideally on a tablet or iPad.

What would it take to get that type of functionality in a standalone package displayed on a existing mobile device?
