What specific tools did yall use to mod your 3ds
I just found my old 3Ds, and I wanna mod it but I’m not sure what to use and what will work for my specific model.I have a 3Ds xl, so I don’t know if I need anything different or specific for it?

Hello everyone, I am new in this community
I have the n3ds xl hyrule edition, but the top shell has some scratches and I lost the bottom shell for not knowing how to properly remove the screws (I was a kiddo back then)
I watched some shell replacements on eBay and they look really good, I would like to know what experience you have with those shells and if they really are like the original one. My goal is to keep it as good as day one
Fortunely both screens are perfect. I have my 3Ds since 2016
Just finished a USB-C Charging Mod and wanted to share something that would have saved me a lot of headaches.
Following some YT guide, I fully disassembled the motherboard to avoid stressing the shell during soldering. Huge mistake. Reassembly was a nightmare, and the risk of accidentally tearing a ribbon cable is far greater than the risk of slightly bending the shell.
Here's the key insight I found out the hard way: of the 6 pads you're supposed to solder, only 2 signals actually matter — 5V and GND. That's it. The other pads are electrically redundant (see this post by u/ImpalaBBQ).
Practical takeaway:
Seriously, a slightly deformed shell is nothing compared to a dead ribbon cable. Work around the shell, not against it.
KLRR (KendyLabs x Raretro Consoles) is a project by both companies to provide the first transparent shells for the 3DS console family.

As the title says, have you experienced this problem before? I even soldered the original 3DS charging port back and let it charge for 30 minutes from 3% battery life, and it only got to 3.5%. It looks like something happened to the motherboard. I forgot to mention, after I changed to a USB-C port, when I put the battery back in, instead of showing a 60% charge, it gave me a low battery warning like 2%, and I saw the voltage keep going up without a charging cable plugged in. At first, I thought it was a battery problem, so I decided to drain the battery until the 3DS turned itself off. And yes, I tried a different battery and cable it still charges at 0.5W.
