Lyrics: "I love to lie" | 1960s rockabilly/soul 45 | male vocalist | I only have this recording

Heard this on a Keb Darge DJ mix (deep funk/soul 45 specialist). The track sounds like a late 50s/early 60s rockabilly or early soul record: male singer, upbeat, brass.

Chorus includes: "I just love to lie!"

Audio clip attached. Music recognition tools haven't been able to identify it, likely an obscure regional pressing that never made it to digital databases.

lyrics (transcribed):

Verse 1 Well my baby's mad, mad, mad, mad, mad at me / Acting real sore / Even packed her bags last night, slammed and broke the door / Cause I lied! Yeah, I lied! / Well that's right, that's right, she caught me lying / And I left her crying

Chorus Well I said I'd get you fancy clothes, oh lots of pretty things / Fly around the world, baby, man of your dreams / But I lied! Yeah, I lied! / Oh why, oh why do I keep on lying? / I just love to lie!

Verse 2 Well there ain't that much money / Ain't got a fleet of cars / Ain't no big fancy house / No movie stars / Well it's a crying shame, pretty baby, what you mean to me

Outro Things ain't looking good, things ain't looking good / Things ain't working out the way I planned and hoped they would / Cause I lied! Yeah, I lied! / That's right, that's right, I keep on lying... / Cause I love to lie! I just love to lie!

Everybody Pays Their Dues — Bootleg EP

Just recently dug out this bootleg EP that I’ve had for quite a few years now. The highlight for me is the early version of "Street Fighting Man" (also known as "Did Everybody Pay Their Dues?") that features a whole set of different lyrics, as well as guests Dave Mason, Ric Grech, Jim King, and Roger Chapman on various instruments and backing vocals. Jagger’s approach is a lot different as he sounds a bit more reserved without the confidence and aggression that was reflected in the released version.

Bowie singles

I really like the late 70 RCA design with bars on top- Heroes,Helden & Be my wife. And Japanese singles looks good however they look. But ”Rebel Rebel” & ”Young Americans” looks dull. It’s not that I collecting Bowie especially, but I buy when I see them to the right price. And with picture sleeves. That can be said for most of my singles. And the first single I bought was ”Life on Mars” in -74 when I was 10. ( it’s not the same copy)
