A student lead nationwide aerospace club.

I've seen college clubs but nothing entirely student lead and independent of a college or an organisation

i was wondering if that could be possible.

ofcourse there's a lot of questions about funding and sponsors and stuff...

but i was thinking if we could initiate something like and get people to create and join such a club, we could spread so much knowledge, achieve so much together.

maybe im dreaming too big, but i know it's possible if the right people come together.

find like minded people and work on projects together, we could expand on research, join competitions worldwide, host workshops or study forums, make projects with each other. make aerospace trending in our country... etc etc...

if anybody is interested or knows how to make such a thing come to life, please DM me 🙏

Is going abroad worth the effort right now?

Hi, I'm a 4th year aerospace btech student. My gate attempt this year didn't go too well so I'm planning to rewrite next year (I graduate in october this year). Most of my classmates are starting to apply abroad and the problem is I have ZERO knowledge of the whole process to apply for colleges in countries like Germany, Netherlands, etc in Europe. I have no idea which colleges require IELTS or GRE or dMAT. I have not made a list of foreign universities to apply to and have no idea about scholarships and stuff either.

I have just been preparing for gate this past year and I've kept it as my main priority. However, I'm aware that keeping a foreign application as backup is necessary. Idk how to clear this dilemma, any advice is appreciated.

Anyone pursuing dual btech?

I'm a first year mechanical engineering student interested in defense tech and aerospace engineering. I want to study these for MTech. I want to pursue this degree as dual enrollment. Is anybody also doing dual enrollment from BTech? Is it even advisable to take a load like this?

Curated MIT 16.00x (Astronautics & Human Spaceflight) Lecture Playlist for Anyone Learning Aerospace

Hey everyone,

I’m fairly new to aerospace engineering and currently working my way through foundational concepts. While diving into open resources, I came across MIT’s 16.00x: Introduction to Aerospace Engineering (Astronautics and Human Spaceflight), taught by former NASA astronaut Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman.

The full course structure is available on MIT OpenCourseWare, but navigating through the website modules just to watch the video lectures sequentially felt a bit clunky.

To make it easier for continuous watching, I organized all the core video lectures into a single sequential YouTube playlist.

I wanted to share this here in case anyone else is starting out, looking for a refresher, or wants an accessible stream of the lectures without clicking through nested course pages.

Here is the playlist link: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQ5yLmZZOIoI&si=dOGwMTgWExVTH1Q6

The course covers:

  • Rocket science fundamentals (thrust, specific impulse, multi-stage rockets)
  • Orbital mechanics & delta-v budgets
  • Life support systems (ECLSS) and microgravity physiology
  • Spacesuit design and EVA mechanics

Hope this is helpful to someone else on a similar learning path!

i need advice on how to pursue this field in india

i wanted to be an astronaut and a space scientist since i was a kid, and isro has been my dream organization to work at i chose pcm in 11th and then went for btech in ece after school because i saw the the only options to enter this field were either the bsc, msc, phd and research path, or the second one that no one told me directly, but i kinda got the idea on my own that engeineers are a kind of scientists too, right? i mean, i could be a space scientist if i became an engineer too, it's not that unrealistic. given that my father is an engineer, i thought that this would be the perfect choice to go on this path, so i chose electronics and communication, concluding that the communication part will open the line of satellites, radar, defense and similar things for me, which gets connected to astronomy later on.

i'm now in my 4th year, and i'll be honest, due to a lot of stuff happening in my life, my results got messed up the last one year. my 4th sem and 6th sem are horrible as of this moment, and i'll make up for it by the end of my degree, but i need clear advice or maybe if possible then, directions now. i know someone else can't create the path for me, bt i need to have an idea before i really get into this.

how should i now, when i graduate as an engineer, enter this field? my current plan is to get a decent score in GATE, then apply to isro, drdo and such. but i know gate isn't just something to bluff on. i am aware that just depending on gov jobs will not be beneficial, since after i graduate, i will be unemployed, right now i'm just a student. so i need to be clear about other companies and even fields that i will have to take into consideration, and apply to. i'm really starting to get worried about this. it's not that i'm running away from a msc, phd and more learning, but that i don't really have the time and resources right now. i really need a job right after graduation.

and i tried searching up jobs and companies, but i'm not getting any confident answers or myself. maybe i'm just not searching the right way? but now i really need personal advice, not general. an advice for my exact situation. the skills that i know, as of now, that i should have are - python, matlab, c++, sql. i've heard about cad being useful in this field too.

so, is your opinion on what i should do? what are the companies, and what are the exact skills. because even when i develop the skills, if i don't know the correct place to apply them to, or apply for jobs to, it will be in vain. and i really don't want to change my field, as people keep suggesting, and as i see my classmates do. for some reason, i really want to continue my childhood dream. though there were times i had forgotten it, and ignored it, now time really is slipping through my hands. so please, please help if you can. also sorry for rambling on so much.

IIT Aerospace BTech → MTech CSE/AI: What are my options?

I am a B.Tech Aerospace Engineering graduate from IIT and want to pursue M.Tech/MS in CSE, AI/ML or related CS fields from a good institute.

Profile:

B.Tech: IIT , Aerospace Engineering

CGPA: 5.8/10

Category: ST

Fresher

No work experience

I want to know all the realistic routes available to me:

GATE CS vs GATE DA — which should I give?

Which IITs/IISc/IIITs/top institutes accept non-CS B.Tech students for M.Tech CSE/AI?

Which institutes allow ST candidates with ~5.8 CGPA?

What GATE score/rank should I target?

Are there any institute-specific exams/tests/interviews apart from GATE?

Are M.Tech/MS by Research programs more flexible for a non-CS background?

Are there any other realistic routes to get into a good CS program without doing another bachelor's degree?

If anyone has gone from Aerospace/Mechanical/Civil → M.Tech CSE/AI, please share your experience.

I am mainly looking for IITs/IISc/IIITs and other top institutes in India.

Please share institute + eligibility + exam + approximate GATE score/rank + admission process if you know.

Thanks!

Want to Transition into Aerospace Software Engineering ✈️

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working as a Telematics Engineer in the automotive industry, where I’ve worked on telematics and connectivity solutions for multiple Indian OEMs.

I’m now interested in exploring a career in the aerospace/aviation industry as a Software Engineer. I’m curious to know how transferable my automotive and embedded software experience would be to aerospace.

Is it realistically possible to make this transition? If yes, what skills, certifications, technologies, or domains should I focus on to become a strong candidate for aerospace software roles?

I’d really appreciate guidance from anyone working in aerospace/aviation or who has made a similar transition.

I’m eager to learn and would love to hear your advice on how I can break into the aerospace industry. ✈️

Looking for Indian teammates for JAXA Kibo-RPC 7 (Space Robotics)

Hi everyone!

I'm a 3rd-year Physics student from India, and I'm looking to form a team for the 7th JAXA Kibo Robot Programming Challenge (Kibo-RPC) through the UNOOSA International Slot.

The competition involves programming free-flying robots in the ISS, so I'm looking for people interested in space robotics, control, computer vision, and programming.

A little about me:

  • Physics major + Computer Science minor
  • Python, numerical simulation and data analysis
  • Interested in spacecraft GNC, control systems and autonomous navigation.

I'm looking for 2-4 other Indian students who are genuinely interested in working on the competition and have experience with C++, robotics/ROS, computer vision, path planning, control systems, or algorithms would be especially useful.

You don't need to be an expert — I'm mainly looking for people who are motivated and willing to work consistently as a team.

If you're interested, DM me with your university, year, technical skills, and any relevant projects/competitions you've done.
