I’ve been making homemade fries way too often since getting an air fryer
I know homemade air fryer fries probably aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but I finally found a method that gives me fries that are crispy outside and still soft inside.
I peel and cut the potatoes, then soak them in salted water for about 15–20 minutes. After that, I drain them and dry them really well.
Then I toss them with about 1 tsp of butter, 1 tsp of oil, Cajun seasoning, and a little salt. I spread them out in the basket and air fry at around 200°C (400°F) for about 14–15 minutes, shaking/flipping them halfway through.
The soaking seems to make a huge difference for me. Before doing this, my fries were usually either soft or unevenly cooked. Getting some of that starch off and making sure the potatoes are dry before cooking gives me a much better texture.
I’ve also started experimenting with different seasonings, and honestly, Cajun seasoning has been my favorite so far.
At this point I’m probably eating fries every other day. 😂
