Apple keeps charging more, but the upgrades don't always feel worth it. Between storage slowdowns, the variable aperture camera, pricier subscriptions, and reports of laggy iOS updates, it's fair to ask whether you're getting enough for your money.

Take storage first. Some higher-capacity iPhones reportedly use QLC NAND, which can slow down a lot once the fast write cache fills up. If that's true, paying extra for more storage doesn't necessarily get you better performance. That matters if you move big files around or shoot a lot of high-res video. We'd need solid, repeatable benchmarks to know how bad it really is.

Variable aperture is similar. On paper, it gives you more control over light and background blur. But whether you'll notice a difference depends on how it's built and what you're shooting. You don't need a bigger sensor for it to be useful, but people should see real improvements in their photos, not just a nicer spec sheet.

Then there are subscription price hikes and complaints about lag after some iOS updates. These are separate issues. A higher price doesn't automatically make a service worse, and slowdowns can vary depending on your phone and software version.

In the end, nobody's saying Apple makes bad products. The question is whether the upgrades are big enough to justify what it now costs to own them. Premium pricing makes sense when you can feel the difference. When the improvements are small and hard to spot day to day, it's reasonable to wonder if you're paying for real progress or just a slightly better version of last year's phone.

I would love to play my steam games on an iPad Pro m5 13 in. with that tandem oled with some AirPod maxes. How come Apple sucks with gaming?

Now hear me out. I use to be diehard apple but I was sucked in my the Samsung fold platform (on my 3rd and love it) so I left Apple ecosystem.

Fast forward to now, we were given an ipad. I was setting it up for my 3yo (domt judge me) and I can not beleive how un user friendly the interface is. Between verification codes not processing despite being correct (literally accepts and then goes back to the start) and the clunky edit home screen, not to mention how hard it is to find create an apple account from an Android device.

Its got me thinking am I just getting old? I use to laugh at people who said apple wasnt user friendly with comments like, "its fine if you arent stupid" is this karma? Or has the platform mutated so much that its got an insane learning curve.

This sounds like an old person rant, maybe I need to put my slippers on and go to bed. Anywho let me know if im the only one.

Ich brauche eure Beratung bezüglich AppleCare One.
Ich möchte eine neue Ultra 4 kaufen und dann, durch den Plan, sie versichern sowie 2 ältere Geräte.

1. Wie läuft die Prüfung von den älteren Geräten bei Apple ab? Gibt es dazu Erfahrungen? Es handelt sich um das iPhone 17 Pro sowie das MacBook Air M3 von 2024.

2. kann ich dann, wenn das klappt, weitere ältere Geräte für 5,99€ dazu versichern? Laut Apple sollte das klappen.

Jetzt die schwierigste Frage: Kann ich die Ultra 4 aus AppleCare One rausschmeissen (die Uhr wäre das einzig qualifizierte neue Gerät bis dahin) und ein anderes Gerät nehmen, dann die 5,99€ Option einfach kündigen? Hätte dann den Plan für 3 ältere Geräte, die alle von Apple bereits geprüft wären.

Sorry; ist viel verlangt aber vielleicht gibt es hier in der Community einige Mitarbeiter von Apple die sich sehr gut damit auskennen.

While I have several Apple devices, my wife only has her phone. I know if I were to lose/damage/destroy my phone, having a back-up device where I could respond to push notifications would probably help get up and running again. I have been considering getting an iPad for my wife so that we would have this backup device if she were to smash her screen or something. I always keep our security settings up to date, print out the backup codes, I'm the recovery email on her account. Is there any more benefit to be gained by having an extra device already signed in to her Apple ID?

Assuming you recommend having a backup device, would an old phone serve the same purpose? Can you disable the sim and just log into the phone and keep it online as a backup? What is the best practice?

Could the AppleCare coverage be extended when the existing arrangement is an upfront two-year plan?

Is the AirPod max 2 upgrade worth it. Headphone still work perfectly. Ik it’s a c port device which will end my lighting cord usage and has improved fidelity and noise cancellation but it’s still works great. Is there any outstanding improvements that will warrant an upgrade?

Edit: in addition there no aluminum silver color way which i don’t want to give up.
