Bmw e46 330i engine light

Hello everyone, how are you?

First time posting here. Hope i do it within the rules.

Im having issues with my e46 330i , quick rewind some months ago i had multiple codes, including misfires, and banks too lean, so my mechanic we assumed it was the injection coils. For some reason ( i didnt notice at the time ) because the codes led to the top cylinders (4,5,6) he only changed those injection coils, and around a month later i pushed him into changing the first 3 coils too ( and all spark plugs)

We are now some months foward and my engine gave me another check light, indicating CYLINDER 5 misfire, and i personally changes only that coil, thinking maybe it was defective. And about 2000kms latee i got the same code for the same cilynder, so im guessing theres something else doing it.

What can i do now? The cylinder 5 code already came twice. I ordered all 6 coils that are arriving tomorrow cause i told myself maybe changing 3 at the time each time was just wrong and my mechanic did a shit job, so maybe the older ones wrecked the newer? Idk what else to do.

Should i maybe change all 6 coils and spark plugs all together ?

Or could it be something else?

Also while the engine light is on my car has intense rough idle ( no knocking sound)

Id appreciate your help, thanks for reading, and show me your e46's. Love me some nice builds.

What should i do

Im 19 and i saved up some money to buy my first project car. I was thinking of two options either the e30 or e36. What are your thoughts? Which would be a more fun car to have. My goal is to restore it first. Then after a couple of years I’ll maybe turn it into a drift car in the future. Any advice helps.

This isn’t my first bmw nor will it be my daily.

335i turbo replacement

Just got a 186k mile 335i with a blown turbo, plan to change both to avoid a future headache of course. Is this a good price for OEM turbos? Comes with as a small kit, also plan to change the oil lines for the turbos. Any feedback or recommendations?

Extended warranty for a 4 year old car?

I have a 2023 m340i for which warranty is about to expire in a few months.

When enquired about purchasing additional warranty for 3 more years and additional 35k miles, they quoted me 6800 pre tax. Is it worth buying that ?

Reliability x-drive (330e)

I'm considering a 330e as a replacement for my cupra formentor hybrid. The cupra looks great but the noise of the wheels starts annoying me more and more (bad insulation).

I heard that the x- drive is very vulnerable when you don't change all tyres. Is it really a thing with the x-drive? I'd be looking for a car a couple of years old with max 60.000km, so no guarantee how it's been looked after. Better get the none x-drive?

Should i buy this 330e?

Im planning to buy this used 330e with 80k kms. I heard they can push 400bhp after a stage 1 tune. And i heard theyre far more reliable than an cla 35 amg? What are your thoughts about this car? Should i purchase it?

2023 BMW 330i G20 Exhaust

I recently did a muffler and resonator delete but it will only pop and bang/burble on a cold start, it is only louder when driving and revving later on after a cold start. I want it to pop and bang/burble while driving and just in general revving after a cold start. Why does it do this? I thought maybe the deletes weren’t enough and I possibly have to get a down-pipe + tune. Is it just my car? 😅

BMW 428i F-Baureihe aus Korea importieren – Erfahrungen mit Korea X Import?

Moin zusammen,
Danke euch! 🙏

Wheel Spec Help

Hey all, I have a 2007 335i lowered on coils and I have a question about wheel sizes. I found a nice set on Facebook for a good price however they’re 255/55/18. I’m concerned by the 55 sidewall height and wanted to know if anyone has any experience running that or if you have any knowledge on whether they’d be too big. Thanks

2017 335d/330d. Diesel worth it?

Looking at getting either 2017 330 or 335d. Would like to know if they’re still worth it, as I get the feeling my lifestyle is sort of on the cusp of diesel/no diesel.

My work means I would be driving 330 miles round trip, at least twice a month to go home. As well as the occasional 400 mile round trip to see my parents (maybe 4-5x per year). That is approx 9k miles per year, without daily driving. No commute but would need the car for drives locally (very much rural, no city stuff). Only time I would ever regularly be in the urban would be those trips home, which would involve around 20-25 mins of London driving.

Does this seem appropriate for diesel and would I actually be saving money, given the better mpg but higher cost per litre? Considering things like 340i or 440i but I just want to be as economical as is reasonably possible on those longer drives, whilst having some good performance.

Muffler/Res Delete on a BMW F30 318i B38?

Hi everyone!

I'm looking to make my BMW F30 318i B38's single exit exhaust sound louder and better without making it obnoxious or with any drone. I have a few options like sport mufflers and res deletes, but I am wondering if anyone else has done it on their B38 318i and how it is sound wise and if any drone is there. A res delete would cost me $220 while a muffler delete would be $250. I'm also wondering if an exhaust tip would change anything sound wise or is just aesthetically pleasing. Where i live, we have some pretty strict laws with noise limits (Can't cross above 90). Let me know!

Rbg or yellow DrL

Yo guys, I got a question. I have a 2027 BMW M3 Dravit Grey. It’s coming together very nicely. Just got some front-mount intake bits. Now I was thinking about changing my headlights. Should I get yellow DRL or RGB? Let me know, and if you guys have a good website I could use to buy them off of, let me know.

E90 325i Paddle Shift Retrofit

Hey everyone,

I'm planning to retrofit paddle shifters onto my 2008 BMW E90 325i Automatic (pre-LCI).

My current factory setup is the basic steering wheel without any multifunction buttons (non-MFL). I am buying a used steering wheel that already comes with paddle shifters and MFL buttons, and I plan to bring it to an independent shop or BMW coder for the installation. (In Germany or Switzerland)

Since my car doesn't have the factory wiring for shifters:

  1. Which retrofit harness is recommended for a 2008 pre-LCI model (e.g., BMS / Burger Motorsports)?
  2. Do I need to buy any additional small parts, pins, or adapters, or does the harness cover everything needed to tap into the shifter box under the center console?
  3. Is coding strictly required, or is it plug-and-play once the harness is connected?
  4. Do you know any places in Germany or Switzerland that can do this for me?

Thanks in advance for your help!

audio upgrade

hi, i’m new to bmws and this is my 2008 320i m sport pre lci. I have already fitted an edge twin 12 inch subwoofer but the audio quality from the door speakers and the under seat speakers somewhat distort the quality when i have music turned up loud.

Im wondering if anyone has any advice on what aftermarket door and under seat speakers i should buy to improve the quality and bass so the overall sound is better.

I also want to get an aftermarket head unit and i’m really in love with the style of ones you’d find from the max power era. Im not too bothered about apple car play and i’m wondering if someone has installed something like this before and if it will even fit.

BMW E46 M3 DIFFERENTIAL LOOSE THREAD FIX!

Hello everyone!

I made a DIY video fixing my Rear Diff knocking issue, at first I thought it was the Diff Front Bushing and I replaced it, but issue insisted, and it turned out the bolt was stripped from the hole.

I fixed the threads, and same issue. So I ordered the Roque Engineering repair kit and did the fix.

In this video, I show you step-by-step how I repaired the stripped/loose differential mounting threads on my BMW E46 M3 using the Rogue Engineering Differential Bushing V2.0 Front Position FIX.

Instead of simply replacing the bolt, this repair upgrades the original mounting setup by re-tapping the differential housing from M14 to M16 and installing the Rogue Engineering upgraded bushing and M16 Grade 12.9 bolt.

I go through the entire process from beginning to end without skipping steps, including removing the differential, preparing the damaged mounting hole, drilling, tapping the new M16 threads, installing the upgraded bushing and bolt, and putting everything back together.
