Bambu Lab sent me the wrong Vortek Upgrade part and has left my H2D unusable

Technically still a H2D post

I've been a huge supporter of Bambu Lab for a while now. Unfortunately, my latest experience has been incredibly disappointing.

I ordered the Vortek Upgrade as a birthday gift for myself. After two VERY HORRIBLE weeks at work I decided that I would take today off and geek it off. So I pulled my sleeves and started the installation . Partway through the process I opened the package that was supposed to contain the new Vortek Toolhead.

Instead...

They had shipped me a heating unit.

So now my printer is sitting half-disassembled on the table and I can't finish the upgrade, and I can't even put everything back together because the first step is de-registering the Serial Number of the printer which they did promptly.

I contacted support immediately. Since I live within driving distance of their UK warehouse in Lichfield, I even offered to drive there myself, hand over the incorrect part, and collect the correct toolhead. That would have solved the issue in a matter of hours.

The answer was a flat "absolutely not possible."

Instead, I'm expected to wait while they follow their normal returns process—even though this was entirely their mistake.

What frustrates me isn't just that they sent the wrong part. Mistakes happen.

It's that they've left a customer without a working printer for who knows how long because they're unwilling to make any exception to resolve it quickly. The fact that I even offered to save them courier costs and resolve the issue myself didn't seem to matter.

For a company that's built such a strong reputation for innovation, this level of customer service feels incredibly rigid and disappointing.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with Bambu Lab? Were you able to get them to expedite the replacement, or am I just stuck waiting while my H2D sits unusable because someone packed the wrong item?

I'm honestly expecting better from such an expensive part.

Are there replacements for this?

I do disconnected this tube often for TPU prints. I don't even know if this is fixable. My machine is not even 6 month old

H2C / H2D / H2S First and Top Layer Gaps — Known Bug, Still Unresolved

I wanted to create a summary posts regarding the first layer issues on the H2 series printers.

It would seem there are others dealing with first/final layer quality issues such as gaps, pinholes, space between lines on first and/or top layers and have been sent through rounds of bed leveling, flow calibration, hotend swaps, and hardware checks by support without resolution.

A Bambu developer on GitHub confirmed this is a known issue and has stated a fix is being worked on (as of February 2026). Despite this, many are still being sent through the same circles with tier 1 support including hardware troubleshooting steps with low chances of resolution.

There are mixed reports of replacement hardware solving the issue vs others with no change after full machine or toolhead assembly swaps. Interestingly, if I print the internal storage test Bambu Panda, I don't have any issues you can see in my pictures for other prints.

This is happening across H2C, H2D, and H2S owners and has been more widely reported over the last 6 months with the arrival of the H2C, which is appearing to likely be more prone to this issue.

The official bug report for Bambu Studio is here:
https://github.com/bambulab/BambuStudio/issues/9768

If you have this issue, please consider adding your report to the official GitHub. Include what you have tried, what has possibly helped or has definitely not helped.

The more documented reports from different users, the more likely this will be resolved on a what is advertised as the flagship Bambu series.

Below are reference threads showing how widespread this is (I'm sure there are more, just what I have been collecting while searching for solutions):

PETG-CF makes everything pretty.

I've used it for a bunch of functional prints now. While it has little strength improvement over standard PETG, the surfaces are just absolutely wonderful. This was printed with 0.24mm layer height.

Same with PLA-CF. I highly recommend adding some CF filaments to your arsenal.

H2 filter question

Hello!

I’m new to Bambu and noticed a setting for a filter. When turned on, it says it may increase heat and will use fans to cool down. What filter is this and when do you turn it on vs not? I’ve only printed pla so far, but looking to do some asa and AB’s prints with a vent to the window.

Please advise

New H2D Requires Immediate Maintenance?

I purchased a BBL H2D Combo over the weekend (at Microcenter). After running the initial calibration sequence, the AI Assistant immediately informed me:

• Please clean and lubricate the X-axis linear rail, YZ-axis linear rods, and the extruder lift linear rail.

• Threaded rods need lubrication now.

This is not my first Bambu Lab printer, but I have never been asked to start maintenance before my first print on the device.

Do you think this is specific to my printer or has BBL started requiring this on all new H2Ds or printers in general?

I visually inspected these rails and lead screws and saw plenty of lubrication on them.

Hey guys, I appreciate any help or advice on where to look to fix these visible blemishes. As the title says, it is a brand new 0.8 HF nozzle from Bambulab on H2D with Elegoo PETG Pro filament. Initially, I thought this was down to the moisture content in the filament, but I have dried this for over 8 hrs at 65 degrees. Still has the same results.

Printer settings:

Bambulab H2D

Nozzle - 260, bed - 70

Normal print speed

Retraction settings are standard (not set or changed)

Bambulab Studio

Elegoo PETG PRO

Worth keeping the vision encoder plate after using it?

Picked up a vision encoder plate for my H2D, is it worth keeping after using it? I figured it would calibrate once, compensate for skew, then it’s done.

Bambu Lab H2D 40W laser exhaust is ventilating, but just doesn't seem like enough — outdoor fan upgrade?

Hey everyone,

I recently got the 40W laser module for my Bambu Lab H2D, and I’m trying to optimize the exhaust setup.
Right now, I have the official Bambu hose hooked up to a 90-degree adapter, which runs straight to a window kit that is completely sealed. It’s definitely ventilating, it just doesn't seem like enough to keep up with the heavy smoke this 40W module kicks out when cutting. Fumes are still lingering more than they should.

Because of my space layout and wanting to keep the noise down inside, I want to upgrade the system by adding a 4-inch inline duct fan mounted outdoors (just outside the window) to pull the smoke out via negative pressure.

For anyone who has upgraded their H2D or laser exhaust system:

Overcoming the 90-Degree Restriction: My current 90-degree adapter is probably killing some of my airflow velocity. Will a strong outdoor inline fan be enough to overcome that restriction and pull the smoke out completely?

Outdoor Fan Recommendations: What fan are you using for an outdoor setup? Since it will be outside the window, how did you weatherproof it, or is there a specific outdoor-rated blower you recommend?

Push vs. Pull: Did you completely disable or bypass the stock H2D internal exhaust fan when adding your inline fan, or do you run them both at the same time?

I want to make sure I can clear this smoke out efficiently so I can really put this 40W module to work. Any advice on the best way to route this or fan recommendations would be a lifesaver.

Thanks!

H2D repeatedly clogging after an hour of printing

Hi all,

My H2D has been playing up since yesterday and I have been unable to troubleshoot to a solution.

I have:

Unclogged by cold pulling numerous times

Replace Nozzle

Changed filament roll

When I unclog it, the nozzle is full of filament so I dont think it is an issue with the nozzle so something further upstream is possibly going wrong? (especially considering it is doing it after changing the nozzle).

The other nozzle seems to be fine at the moment

Has anyone experienced this or can advise of what to check?
