Tote Bag

I saw this tote bag on a second-hand site (unfortunately already sold), does anyone have any info on it? I am desperately looking for this bag (or even better, one in classic tartan), were they ever sold or are they custom-made?

Gentlemen

I have became a very happy owner of my first used Barbour waxed jacket, a Beaufort to be precise. Seems to be relatively fresh too, def post 2005.

After thorough cleaning and removal of old stench I stand before a very tedious task of re-application of wax. Now here's the problem: I made decision to make the wax on my own as I have plentifull of paraffin, beeswax and oil. Is this true I should not use beeswax? Anyone could share their own experience?

NP Pendle

Recently found this black NP Pendle. Don't know if there's a regular Pendle or what NP stands for, but this has zero tartan anywhere. It's another sports jacket style, most similar to the Lutz but with a chest pocket (similar extra-slim fit too).

Beautiful leather trims around the cuffs and inside / outside pocket trims should keep this one looking sharp for decades. Behind the collar is a nice touch suggesting it's more intended for collar-up wear.

Weirdly though it's also very wooly. Wool elbow patches, sure, but also wool trim underneath the pocket flaps and strangest of all, the entire back panel is wool which I think would negatively affect wet weather capability.

Ultimately I think it's still a great option for someone who wants a sports-jacket style like the Lutz or Beacon, but wants a more traditional black colorway.

First Barbour - Beacon

Love the jacket and I’m glad that I didn’t go up a size, but I immediately noticed how clammy the sleeves get. Will probably send it in to have them replaced with normal cotton material. Love it otherwise!

Loving the Steve McQueen Merchant wax jacket

I just recently acquired this Barbour limited-edition Steve McQueen Merchant Wax Jacket in size XL (it runs small, if you plan on acquiring it, buy the size that's one higher than your typical size). House of Bruar had what appeared to be the last remaining unit in size XL new. You can see the fun little American Flag snap button on the lower right pocket of the jacket, which is a nice festive thing, I feel, considering that I live in the USA and Fourth of July celebrations are right around the corner.

The zipper feels nice and smooth, and I rather like the dual-snap collar. The rib-knit stretchy cuffs and waistband feel great too. I like wearing the jacket with my Dent's (English-Tan-colored) leather fingerless driving gloves and nice khaki pants. The jacket feels lightweight and quite comfortable. This is definitely the coolest looking jacket I've seen from Barbour in my humble opinion. The Steve McQueen tribute is nice too, I like the embroidery on the side of one arm. All things considered, I feel like this jacket is a really nice acquisition.

New Bedale - wavy zip normal?

Just purchased a sage waxed Bedale online - very happy with the jacket and fit - however I did notice the main zipper appears to be quite wavy. It appears worse when unzipped. Tried to capture in photos. Is this normal or might I be better returning for a different one?

The END summer sale has some great non-US options at a decent price

END just sent an email giving another 10% off their sale prices and they've got some great waxed jackets that weren't available in the US this past season. They cover import duty to the US too, but beware that returns are at your cost if you don't have your sizing right. For those in the UK or outside the US the selection is likely much larger too.

The Re-Engineered Blackett Spey that I loved is now wayyy cheaper than I paid just two months ago, at $220 (size XL left only)

The Modified Beaufort Spectator in sizes XS or S, $290

They've got the Baracuta Tyne coat in Navy, size S or M for $420 as well as some Portons left.

The big one the US missed this year isn't waxed at all, but at $1000 the Ventile Endurance probably wouldn't have been much of a hit. At $580 though I'm almost tempted! Sizes S thru XL left.

New Bedale in Rustic

Finally here my new Bedale jacket in size 42. Now it was the turn in rustic color. I already have a Beaufort jacket in black, Ashby in olive and Border in sage so was missing rustic syle. Recencia effect or not is my new favorite color for Barbour jackets. One small concern, that kept crossing my mind, was that it might not be made in England, given the increasing number of Bedale and Beaufort jackets made in Eastern Europe...The only real "problem" now is to wait at least 3 months for autumn and as many months to see how it looks without as much wax as it has now

Having a Blast or Two

The Blast is a particualrly weird one. At first blush it's a handsome Lightweight with what looks like fold-over chest pockets and classic harrington-style button waist pockets. It wears quite well too, even if I personally prefer not to have to fiddle with buttons to put my hands in my pockets; it's a short jacket so that's not really a big deal.

Things get weird though when you lift the snap-button chest flaps to find that there's absolutely nothing there on the right side. Fine, there's at least a zip pocket on the left... except it just goes straight through to the interior 😂  The only sense I can make of this is that it's for accessing the chest pocket on an Oxford shirt maybe?

Other details are well-thought-out though; the back vent is functional suggesting this would make a good warmer-weather option (if it weren't for the polyester sleeves we all know and love so much). It's got two interior pockets, and the waist is cinched by a cool internal belt design.

Having hunted down a couple red jackets now though, I think I can see why Barbour hasn't done too many. The brighter color really shows even the slightest bit of dirt; as the wax layer wears the darker and lighter spots also just look dirty rather than worn-in the way an Olive or Navy jacket does. And similar to my thoughts on the red Sapper I posted up last week, I think in red the Blast looks a little too much like your average mall-brand windbreaker. I think it still does a bit in the light brown too (I think these also came in Navy or maybe Black) but has a little more of that classic Barbour character.

If you go hunting for a Blast, you'll probably find it listed as a To Ki To collab, something I've seen multiple times and especially for the red ones. There's nothing to indicate that's the case though, I think people may have just mistaken the South Shields interior patch of the time for the similar-looking LE patch. Maybe I'm wrong though and a catalog entry would be great to find, if anyone's got one from the late 2000s.

Repair and rewax - drop off?

I'm intending to get my jacket rewaxed and have some minor repairs carried out. I live just over an hour and a half's drive from the South Shields factory outlet store and was wondering if I can drop off my jacket to be repaired and have Barbour post it back to me?

The drop off would be tied in with some annual leave and would be a bit of a day out hence why I'm not wanting to drive back over to collect it.

Sizing bedale

Hi everyone! I’m planning to buy a Barbour Bedale jacket and I need some sizing advice.

I am 165 cm tall (around 5'5") and weigh 58 kg (around 128 lbs). I am looking for the classic, traditional English country fit, not slim or tight, but properly proportioned to my body with enough room to layer a normal sweater underneath.

Based on my build, I am thinking about getting a size 34. Do you think a 34 will give me that authentic, traditional look without being overly boxy or swallowing my frame? Or would you still recommend a 36...

What is this model of Barbour ?

I can see that this Barbour jacket is on sale at the moment, but I can’t find the same model online.

How to store a Barbour waxed jacket during a UK heatwave?

Hey everyone, with the upcoming heatwave in the UK, I’m worried about my Barbour jacket melting or ruining other clothes in the wardrobe. Any tips on the best place/way to store it so the wax doesn't run?

Cat pee on Barbour jacket

Went on holiday for a couple of weeks and my cat has peed on my Barbour, it has now started to get mouldy as well. The smell is on both the wax and lined sides and seems very set in.

Is there any chance at all of saving the jacket with a professional clean or should I cut my losses and buy a new one? Really don’t fancy spending £50 on their cleaning service (or an alternative) if I’ll have to replace it anyway :/
