Tinkered on a bi-amp rig

Was in a semi-creative mood. Tried with just the OB1-500 heads, but I was not very happy with the results.

I am using the RPM as the dirty, the RBI as the clean channel. Each goes to a dedicated OB1-500. Both OB1-500 amps are set to "clean". The RPM and RBI receive their signals from a Palmer GA-03 Y-splitter from the pedal board.

I sidechained the clean, unaffected signals from the RBI and RPM to the DBX266XL. The RPM/RBI out signals of both go through the individual channels on the DBX. Each channel out on the DBX goes to an OB1.

I am running the compressors for each channel at 2:1...I tried it "Off" (since I already have one on my board), but it sounds better when engaged.

Clean is at the bottom of each section
Dirty is at the top of each section.

Cabs are rated each at 800 watts (AES) and 8 ohms. Each OB1-500 will deliver around 350Watt at 8 Ohms

There will still be a slight hiss at elevated volumes. But the gate takes care of this for the most part. I can live with that.

Definitely wall-shaking.

Busking Amp Recommendations

I’m looking for a portable amp for my keyboard player and myself(bass) to share when busking in Seattle. We will be playing with a saxophone and drummer as well.

I found a used 50W Roland Street Cube Ex for $300 that seems like a good deal, but am not sure if it would be a good fit, or handle the low end well. Curious if this is a good fit, or if I should find something else.

Thanks in advance!

New small amp day

Picked up this Ashdown Studio 10 in Tweed on sale this morning.

Needed something small and light for my bad back for living room & cottage playing. I did have a Traynor YBA100 & 115 but it was just a little too bulky for my townhouse life. No intentions to gig with this little one as that what my DI pedals are covering (for now)

Alembic F-2b preamp

I was recently gifted this preamp but I am very naive when it comes to rigs. I have only ever used a small combo amp in the past. I know I will need a power supply and speaker cab. How do I know which power supply works with this preamp and what would you recommend? I have tried to do some research but i don’t know very much about rigs and it starts sounding like a foreign language the deeper I dig. Any tips or information about building a rig would be greatly appreciated!!

best used head and cab for 1500USD? ampeg svt 4 pro vs fender bassman 800

hey guys! i play bass in an alternative rock band and after some time playing bass directly from my gt-1000core to a roland KC500 keyboard amp, its finally time to upgrade to a proper nice amp. i had an amazing experience playing an ampeg svt 4 pro with the big speaker cabs in a studio. however the fender bassman 800 really grabs my eye because of the looks, mojo and being lightweight. are there any other models that you guys recommend in that price range? cheers!

Thoughts on Gallien Krueger 400-RD?

I’m looking to upgrade my rig from a Fender Rumble-40. I’m in an alt-rock/alt-metal band. I usually play with a fairly clean, mids-heavy tone, though occasionally I’ll play with distortion or chorus. I’d likely pair this with a 4x10 or 6x10 cab. Would this be a good set up? Any other recommendations?

How would you stack these?

I have my preference but a buddy disagrees.

Sunn Bass Cabinet

“Picked this Sunn Bass Cabinet up last night it's huge Cabinet is roughly 30”x30”x15” and barely fit in my Corolla 😂 Got it from a church setup. Looks old-school and HEAVY. Anyone know the exact model/year or what speakers these usually came with?” currently stuck in my car, I will look at the back of it when I get it out lol.

I Got it !

I got the peavey bass amp from my last post and its amazing. The Tone is SO good. Both Guitar and Bass. Especially with my distortion pedal. But what is this stuff in the back? What’s it for ? I have no idea

This is VERY loud!

Amp = Steamroller 300(Watts) with 6xKT88 tubes

Cabs: HEVOS (2x10) + (2x10+T), each rated at 800 Watts - 8 Ohms

You can feel this in your guts.

I like it.

Enjoy

Help me get some opinions

Found this amp on eBay for a good price. And I can’t find any reviews of it or anything. Anyone know anything? I guess it’s old and stuff but it’s probably good right?

Cheap pc speakers for home practice?

Hi, has anyone tried cheap PC speakers for home practice on their bass. I have full range speakers called Creative Pebble.

AI says Pebble (original) is 4.4W. It seems to be loud enough to hear clearly when im practicing, and it hasnt seemingly farted out on the bass notes. So is there any downside to using these as opposed to what would be a much more expensive bass practice amp

Peavey 1516 or Seismic Audio

I currently own a GK 400RB that I'm running through a Peavey 1516. I've always wanted a 6x10. My local Music Go Round has a Seismic 2x10 and 4x10. I was thinking about trading the peavey for. Another factor leading in that direction would be the ability to just take out the 2x10 or 4x10 depending on the gig situation. Not to mention that 1516 sounds good but is heavy a sin. So, what do y'all think? Bad move or good move?
