Playing Vanilla deep into campaign. Why don't I ever see city maps anymore?

I got the Urban Warfare DLC (also Heavy Metal DLC, maybe Flashpoint too) and played city maps when they were part of the flashpoints earlier on, and I think I would see them randomly. But I realized I'm playing very deep into the campaign mode and I never get a city or tropical map. I will see an occasional Bullshark on the other side, so that should come from the Heavy Metal DLC.

Any reason I don't see city or tropical maps any more? I figured even once the scripted missions for each DLC were over, you'd still get to see those map varieties still. Any ideas?

BTA 3062 / Artillery ( 1 an 2 turn) and Mortar / how to implement it?

The idea of an AOE weapon is very interesting to me, but I haven't had any success with it. I find them quite underwhelming!

I have had some success using "2 turn" Artillery for destroying bases (mostly "attack and defense" missions). And the rest did not prove to be extremely effective.

What are your impressions, do you have any suggestions? It is especially interesting that they have different types of ammunition, especially for Mortars. But Acid and Fire also exist in SRMs and it is easier to use.

Some suggestions?

What are the big differences between Rogue Tech and BTA 3062?

For those who have played both, what are the major differences between both mods? I am looking to get back into the game, but I am having a time deciding between the two. I know that Rogue Tech has a more in-depth Mech Bay, but other than that, what are the big differences?

BEXT 3050. I got tired of Kamea, so I replaced Arano Restoration with the Aurigan Directorate instead.

The Directorate Advances. Stand Firm. Stand Armed. Stand Aurigan.

Interactable model of Lady Arano's Kintaro?

I am primarily a painter, but I did play this game, and I want to paint my Kintaro in Lady Arano's scheme to match her Kintaro in the game. I could (and tried) to just view it while in the first mission but it was difficult to get good angles/lighting in a way that I could clearly see the colors and patterns on the mech. Is there a way I could view her mech in the hangar? Did someone extract the mech's model so I can look around it and all? Any help would be appreciated.

Despite the success of the machine, the BRRRRTback didn't come out looking so good - BTA

BloodyDoves, my beautiful build needs a facelift. I need the inner beauty to match the outside. Your beautiful gatling guns are my new favorite toy, please dont ever change them.

Btw, four gatling guns at once chef's kiss

Grinds armor down into paste.

BTAU question:

I got an event that a convoy with one of my people on it (you, u/bloodydoves if you believe it) was gonna be attacked by some kill team. It sounded like there was supposed to be some mission to intercept the kill team, but I couldn't see one; I was doing a garrison contract. Was there a mission that I just couldn't take because of the conflict with the garrison contract?

Is this a Swayback or proper Hunchback?

I got enough parts for this Alliance Hunchback... and got an idea. Behold, the BRRRRRRTback^(TM).

It can run! It can fly! IT CAN FIGHT!

[BEX] Bug with targeting Clan mechs??

This "bug" popped up only in missions against Clan mechs and I want to ask if it's a bug or if there's some special tech/feature of Clan mechs I'm missing.

In almost every single mission against the Clans, there will be one mech that I can only target with indirect fire weapons. Even if I'm standing 20 feet away in visual range, I can't target them. They just show up as that "orange wireframe" model you see when you're outside visual range of the enemy but they're on your sensors.

When I sensor lock them, I can fire my LRMs at them no problem. But I can't fire any other weapons at them regardless of range or line of sight.

Is this possibly a bug or am I missing something?

Darius shade - just now noticing this "tip"

I guess I've never paid much attention to the tips/tricks displayed during the load cycle. This one gave me a chuckle.

Visiting Deep Periphery Systems in BTA?

First play thru using the mod, I probably have 50-75 hrs in it so far. It's totally renewed my interest in the game. It's March 3065 and I'm just noticing some systems are available to visit outside of the main cluster. Way outside. The furthest I can see is one called Waystation 531. It would take almost 1/2 year game time to visit.

Has anyone spent time exploring these outer systems? Are there unique mechs or drops, or are they mostly included for the merc net story events?

BTAU: My abominations!

Hey gang, it's been a minute since I wrote my guides for BTA. Now that we're in the BTAU era, I wanted to show off what I've been using in my mercenary company.

First up, assault mechs.
MCII-85: Wish this was faster, I'd love to put in a supercharger. Hits like a freight train though. Has some minor heat issues, but the mech expertise/quirk work together to fix that (mostly).
MAD-IIC-SC: I did get a supercharger on this one, and it gets where it needs to be. And still hits hard af.
Cyclops: Not a hard hitter, but a force multiplier. The Advanced Command Mod is a big help. Mostly spends his time protecting/supporting the Bane (see below). Slow.
BNE-DD: This thing is a workhorse. Being able to drop 450 points of damage on a single target is huge. Slow, though. This is usually Revostae's ride (I use the BTA pioneering comrades pilots)

Next, heavy mechs.
VQ-BB: The vision quest is a pretty nice platform for a debuffer. This mech's whole purpose is to jump around and hit two targets with acid and INARC and two different kinds of debuffing lasers. Very useful to set up targets for missile attacks.
Legend Killer: Insane single-target damage. I usually put Shade as the pilot since he has bonuses with kicks.
Guillotine: My jumping backstabber! This thing is good at getting into a rear arc and tearing a mech open.
Thanatos 4S: This is wulfbane's ride (note all the SRMs). The tandem ammo is excellent at exploding vehicles and does significant damage to mechs as well. The sensors quirk on this one works well with the tactics skill line and I also try to include a Sanctuary probe to make it even better. If the Thanatos isn't in range or LOS of targets, I can usually sensor lock or probe ping if there's a big group.
Orion IIC-SK: A workhorse. I usually put Grampa in this one to give it a little extra damage, but it is a very good single-target damage dealer.
MAD-GLG: I could probably do better here with some other platform, but it delivers some ATM hurt very well.
Black Python-3: This is Turtrus' ride to keep the laser heat under control. Excellent long range sniper alongside the Legend Killer.
Black Knight LJP: This is Bloodydoves' ride (his bonus synergizes with the mech's quirk). Another long-range sniper.

This team (plus four LRM carriers) has been absolutely kicking serious ass through the campaign, so I felt they earned their chance to show off the builds. Hope you find it interesting and/or inspiring!

3 main reasons why I prefer BEXT over BTAU

Mech Bay with BTAU:

- After repairing/replacing the core and engine, the repair alert still shows. Even after confirming, we still get a popup saying repairs are needed. It’s a bit confusing at first, and still annoying after.

- The “MAX Armor” button actually maxes out everything, but it goes way over the tonnage limit. So it’s basically useless, and we have to do everything manually.

- There’s no STORE shortcut from the Mech Bay... Damn it... You just spent 10 minutes micromanaging everything (without a useful MAX Armor button...), then you realize you’re short on ammo... Great... Now you have to cancel everything, go to the store, and start all the repairs again.

Am I doing something wrong ? Since everybody seems to prefer BTAU, maybe I’m missing something ?

Then of course BTAU gameplay is great but unfortunately these QoL quirks put me off every time.

***EDIT : thank you for the answers, someone pointed out there is a shortcut for MAX armor, here it is (and it's funny)

no STORE shortcut though...

https://www.bta3062.com/index.php/Keyboard_Shortcuts#Mechlab

Mechlab - Ctrl + Max Armor: This will enable the stupid vanilla-style max armor functionality that doesn't actually work don't use this.

Mechlab - Ctrl + Strip Equip: Will only strip weapons and ammo.

Mechlab - Shift + Strip Equip: Will strip all "grey" equipment (actuators, heat sinks, engines, gyros, upgrades, etc).

Mechlab - Shift + Armor Increment: Will increment armor by 1 point up or down instead of 5.

When you forget to pay your phone bill...

Not paying for your long distance call to Terra and end up fighting 16 ComStar mechs in a 1.5 skull Tag Team mission.

Love what you find in "dropped" cargo

Well, this is different. Picked up 3 cargo containers that got accidentally left behind by a convoy and hidden amongst the dozens of rounds of SRM ammo was this little monster.

Tempted to take Dr Banzai out of his Neanderthal and see what he can do with it.

Advance Primtiveness

Did I do a good job at fucking this up?

I bet this thing handles like a brick covered in lube and if the ammo detonated would wipe out a small mountain range.

I feel bad for making this. I feel shame.
