How does everyone feel about this dude?

How does everyone feel about this dude?

Right now I only have medium mechs, so everytime a heavy shows up on the field im cautious. But whenever I come up against one of these dudes I wanna puke. I have learned to respect and keep a wide birth of these derby looking dudes. That shoulder packs a whallop!

What's the point of building up evasion ticks if the enemies are going to land every single shot anyways.

I'm fighting a mercenary lance and no matter how much I move, no matter how far or close, every single fuckin pip of the enemy fires off and maybe one of their shots miss on my like 4-5 tick evasion mechs, while I consider it lucky if even half my shots land on 3 evasion tick enemies. They always manage to land their shots on the exact same spots everytime, like they have a fuckin permanent precision strike on at all times.

BTA3062 - Rattler in V19.8.2

I had some time and got around to redoing the Rattler in V19.8.2. It ended up taking forever because I made a fumble with that 2nd Kalki and almost restarted, but decided to push through and finished at 1am. Still not happy with it, so i'll have to pen in a re-redo. Then it'll be off to trying the silly plan to win from the map center default suicide spawn location.

Player coming back

I first played battletech back when it launched. Somehow managed to get through a few missions on a really crappy PC.

Just acquired a new PC and would like to come back.

I see the mercenary collection is on sale on Steam now (lowest price ever) and I know that GOG sells it for 12eur.

Where should I buy it from?

I understand there are some mods, hence Steam is appealing, but not all mods are on Steam?

I'm using the newest SteamOS release with ryzen 5 9600x and radeon 9060xt. I understand modding manually on Linux maybe somewhat difficult as opposed to Windows.

What happened to "Mech Commander Edition Mod"?

Basically what the title says. I've seen BTAU and BTE but to be honest they seem fairly daunting and very, very expansive I'm not sure I consider myself a "Casual" but I like to jump on Battletech and do a few missions then log off (I'm 41 and have a busy life so gaming sessions that last 8+ hours are becoming a thing of the past).

I've seen on YT a series by a person I followed where they were playing "Battletech Mech Commander Edition" and that mod seems to me to be a mid-way stepping off point between the bigger expansive mods such as BTAU and BTE whilst adding some additional depth to the game.

I realise Mech Commander Edition is a mod - but is this mod still around/available? if yes, is it stable when played etc?

Mission length and performance BTAU

I’ve finished the Arano restoration campaign and just started fighting the clans. But holy hell the missions are starting to take MANY hours to complete. Last one took 8 hours! It was an elastic defense mission which does say they can be long but…8 hours!? With a mod that disables being able to save and quit during a mission? That’s crazy! I’ve noticed too that performance starts to suffer after the game has been running that long (known memory leak issue right?), lots of stuttering, lag, v low frame rates. Shouldn’t be a hardware issue, except maybe my 1TB SSD with 200 free GB has been rewritten too many times although it’s not very old. 32gb ram, run at 2556x1400, windowed. Followed the BTAU performance recs. Play on lower graphics settings. Any BTAU vets able to chime in on how to address these issues? Not sure I can justify playing 8 hour missions

Enemy lance

Is there a way to tell when you’re likely going to be facing off against a high value enemy lance? I know sometimes in the mission verbiage it will mention high value or heavy resistance. But are there certain mission types or other clues that provide any intel?

I took a mission and took max credits instead of salvage and I ended up squaring off against an Atlas II, Victor, Marauder, and Battlemaster. I even managed to headshot the Atlas but couldn’t pick my salvage. Big sad.

My Obligatory "I Finished Kerensky" Post

It's finally done!

I decided to embark on my first (and certainly only) Kerensky run well over a year ago as a sort of capstone to vanilla Battletech. People aren't kidding when they say it's a slog--it took so long mostly because I got so bored after ~900 in-game days that I set the game aside for about a year. When I hit the score with about 120 days remaining, I was so done that I just ran out the clock from there.

I didn't want to reroll missions, which meant that 'Mech dissection was going to be my path to success. This made it take a lot longer in RL time, but did at least provide a novel challenge and made some of the missions pretty tense. I also didn't map out my route ahead of time, and just kind of figured it out as I went with the aid of the jump distance map.

In my eventual main lineup, I had two "can-opener" 'Mechs: an SLDF Warhammer and a Grasshopper. These were mostly personal preference, but both maneuverable, capable of delivering a lot of pinpoint damage to a leg, and with reasonable heat management. They were complemented by two (eventually three) SLDF Marauders to perform the remaining surgery and gently bonk the patient on the head at the end. The TAGs were essential for knocking out the pilots of 'Mechs with badly damaged center torsos.

Overall I'm not sure I'd recommend the experience, and I'm not sure I'm happy I did it, but it's definitely a relief to have gotten there.

Purchased Battletech on Steam today and performance is really bad

I purchased Battletech for a replacement for xcom and holy smokes... the lag is strong with that game! It is so choppy its practically unplayable.

Are there any links/instructions to get the game working smoothly?

  1. I tried windowed mode. But nothing else seems like it worked.
  2. EDIT: I FORGOT MY PC SPECS: VIDEO Settings: 3120/1440 with settings on High.
  3. CPU: AMD 5800x3d RAM: 64gb HD: 2 TB NVME GPU:Radeon 7900xtx
  4. Windows 10

Any mods that enable full mechlab and let you do refits, without going full RT or BTA? I kinda want to actually finish the campaign, something I've always petered out on near the end.

How to force end a mission?

It's probably been asked.

But is there a way to force end a mission, or a mod that allows this.

I just had a mission finish but not end because the enemy sent in reinforcements before I extracted and the optional mission to kill them appeared to stay active and lock the game after I extracted.

I also happened to be trying to melee an enemy with the last move (it extracted as soon as I touched the extraction zone mid move).

BTA - St Ives Compact Mechs

Other than the Black Market and Battle Royales, is there anyway to acquire special St Ives Compact (specifically the Community Content) mechs once they merge with Clan Ghost Bear?

How is performance in BTA vs. RT?

I'm thinking about reinstalling BT and one of the big mods.

I enjoy RogueTech, but it strains my PC (8GB VRAM/16GB RAM).

Is BTA likely to be any better in that respect?

BTA question about armor piercing weapons

I have tried the lance lasers, tandem charge srm ammo, sanctuary worlds srms, basically all the stuff I could find that would do internal damage before blasting off all the outer armor. The weapons did structure damage but never caused any critical hits that I could see.

Are there any weapons that can do crits through the outer armor?
