Do we still recommend the AT-LP60X?

Hello! I have a question that seems quite divisive on these subs... Is the LP60X still a good beginner turntable?

I got into collecting records earlier this year and I'm in love with it. I started with a victrola suitcase player for a few days before I decided I wanted a real setup. This is all I could afford at the time, but I am receiving a bonus at work next month and I was wondering if it's even worth upgrading? I was looking at the LP120X

I'm not sure about moving to a fully manual turntable, and I can't decide if the sound quality or my experience will really be that much better with a 120X. What do you all think? I'm still new to this hobby - does the LP60X cut it for someone who really just wants an automatic turntable to listen to records at a normal audio quality? I'm not an audiophile by any means so I don't even know if i would notice a difference with a higher end turntable.

Basically just wondering if an upgrade is worth it if I am currently pretty happy with my setup, if you all think so.

And yes, I know the speakers should be on their own stands but I don't have space for that at the moment 🤪

New Turntable(To me) Who Dis?New to vinyl, how did I do?

Alright peeps, what do ya think. I’m new to all this. Been a audio and music lover my whole life and recently started buying records(within last 2-3 months. Figured with my birthday coming up why not treat myself to a record player and nice stylus. I got a Technics SL-1600 refurbished and recapped with an AT-VM95ML. My Schiit Mani 2 will be here next week so that’s what’s up. My table and stylus showed up this week and I had the time to put on my first ever record and wow, what a blast. I’m hooked, line and sinker. It sounds so much better than streaming, at least to my ears and brain. I can hear so much more in the music than when i stream and I’m interacting physically with the music more. Top that with being a guy that likes to tinker, I’m fascinated at the engineering of it. I’m literally in love. So what ya think about my rig. My record collection 😂 any thoughts, comments or concerns are most welcome 🙏🏼

How exactly does a pre amp or amp fit into the set up of a system?

So atm I have a basic setup consisting of an Aiwa px e860 that is connected to a stereo via the aux connection and then using the speakers connected the stereo system. I currently have an adapter that converts the turntables rca red a white connectors into a 3.3mm jack. The record player has a built in pre amp and the sound is good enough but im curious as to how I could improve it. One of the ways im thinking is by using an external pre am or plugging into an amp. Would I then have to connect the stero into this too or would I have to use separate speakers for the turntable?

The attached photos are my turntable and a pre amp I have seen at a decent price

Fluance RT85N stylus

Hello everybody, I’m new to turntables and I had a quick question. I recently purchased a Fluance RT85N and followed all instructions from the setup manual.
I was wondering if my stylus needles is bent or am I applying more weight on the tone arm.
Thank you for your time.

How to connect an audio technica turntable to a vintage stromberg carlson speaker

Hi all, I have an audio technica turntable (AT-LPW50BT) and a vintage Stromberg-Carlson radio/turntable with a built in speaker. The turntable is unfortunately out of commission and not fixable according to the shop that refurbished it for me.

Since the speaker still works, I'm wondering if I can connect the audio technica turntable to it.

  1. is this possible? If so, do you have any good resources on how to do it?

  2. do i need additional equipment like an amplifier?

I've tried googling it but I'm still not certain and don't wanna screw it up without tapping into the human knowledge (and not AI overview) of people who have done this before or know what to do.

Attached are the back of both devices and the cable I have. Those green and yellow wires are also not connecting to anything, if they are of use.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read my question!

all in one turntable?

was thinking of buying this all in one turntable because I love the look of it. was goina to buy some fleamarket speakers along with it because built in speakers are usually garbage. after reading reviews it seems mostly positive, some complaints about a crappy stylus however the jb hi fi website says it has a diamond stvlus which I read is the best kind to have? need advice on any good alternatives or if this is a safe buy for higher quality and safer playback than my current suitcase player 🫩 total cost for turntable and speakers is $460 AUD.

Starter recommendations?

Hi !! I am looking to get a turntable and speakers for myself as my first real set up now that I'm an adult with an income. Preferably a turntable under or at $300! Every thread I have seen give conflicting advice, so at this point I am begging for someone knowledgable to help me out on this one because I feel lost. I am truly not picky, up until now I have had a suitcase player that I have maybe used 3 times ever because I am so worried about damaging my vinyl. I have a collection that I would love to be able to actually play and listen to in my room. Thanks so so much!!!

Fluance RT82 or RT83 (?)

Hello folks. Hopefully someone an help me decide. This isn’t going to be my first turntable but my first in decades. My last turntable was a Sony circa 1997 semiautomatic-the pre amp was a Sony 5.1 system. Prior to that was my parents’ Kenwood circa 1980s.

I gave away my Sony system which I’m regretting now. At the moment I have the all in one 🤪😆🤪 cause I also need a CD and a cassette tape player. BUT I’ve decided to upgrade and here I am now. I thought about vintage but don’t know much about electronics just in case there’s something to be replace etc. Regarding a CD and cassette player I’ll just look into a micro system.

Going back to my question- which would you guys recommend between RT-82 or RT-83

Thank You 😊

Turntable recommendations

I’m looking for a player that’s an upgrade to my suitcase one. I’d like one under 200 (300 if I have to), a tone arm with a counter weight, and a decent MM needle.

Optional:
- built in pre amp and headphone jack
- anti-skate
- belt or direct drive (either as long as it keeps accurate speed

I was looking at Best Buys brand Insignia turntable. It has everything in the list above, but I’m not sure if the build quality is good enough long term. Thoughts? Any recommendations?

Upgrade!

So I was gifted my first turntable for Christmas 2025 which was a Lenco LS-100WD that comes with its own speakers. Used it for 5 months and already wanted an upgrade. So I sold it and used the money to buy a used Technics SL-1500 MK1 turntable, Q Acoustics 3020i and a Yamaha AX-396 Amplifier. Sounds Awesome and very happy, this will be my set up for a long long time. Upgraded the cartridge to an Audio Technica 95E/M.

What do y’all think?

Need some advice about record players/speakers

Hello there !

I have had a somewhat cheap bad quality record player for a couple of years and wanted to get a better system to appreciate my records better and get some new ones too.

After some research, i found that the entry level record player that most people tend to aggree on was the Audio Technica LP60X so I wanted to get one, but i'm a bit confused about the speakers I'll have to get with it.

The amazon page I was checking out said there was 3 versions of the product, bluetooth, usb and analog. I'm wondering if one is better than the others ? I tend to not like bluetooth very much as it can be a hassle to connect.

From other research I found some people recommended the Edifier R1280DB, is that a good choice for this approximate price ? I can see these are bluetooth and digital, so I would have to get the USB version of the LP60X ?

I can send the exact links of the amazon products if need be, they are just very long and would polute the text more than anything.

I am not closed to these products and if you guys think there are better deals for these kinds of entry level range, please tell me !

Cartridge install

I'm finally upgrading from an old lp 120-USB to a Teac TN-5BB + Hana ML cartridge!!

Are there any good installers around Portland ME or Portsmouth NH? I would want someone with an oscilloscope or fozgometer. I've never installed a cartridge on a headshell and i heard this particular cartridge is not easy to setup.

Looking to buy gifts and need HELPPPPP

Okay, LISTEN…I would love to surprise my hardworking, generous, thinks-about-everyone-else-before-himself fiance with a new (open to used equipment!…would love it, actually) setup…we have an every growing vinyl collection and have sort of become enthusiasts of sorts, but our very modest turntable, receiver, and speakers…just aren’t cutting it anymore.

Which leads me to- I need serious help upgrading us without him knowing it. I would like it to be a gift…my budget is around 1000 bucks, all in. I am just absolutely so lost and need all the recommendations as far as an all-in-one setup with everything I’d possibly need. This is for an in home system- larger living room space…we enjoy warm, rich sound and I’d like most of the budget allotted to speakers if that’s the general consensus…ease of use is very important…also phone connection/bluetooth connection capabilities a plus…there are just so many options 🫠Please, send help. Send all the help. I’d love to put something really incredible and memorable together for him. 🙏🏻 Thanks in advance!

Please help picking my next turntable

So I’m upgrading from a super basic entry-level player (Exibel BXLP-45). Just moved to a new country and I’m building a proper setup for long-term listening at home.
I’m kinda stuck because every model I look at has people loving it hating it at the same time 😅
What I care about:
-solid sound quality (main priority)
-built-in phono preamp
-anti-skate + adjustable counterweight
-upgrade potential (cart/needle later on)
-AUTO-STOP is actually important for me (I don’t always stay in the room)
-Bluetooth is nice but not a dealbreaker

Right now I’m looking at:
Argon Audio TT MK2
Audio-Technica AT-LP120X
Pro-Ject Debut RecordMaster II

But I keep seeing mixed opinions like “Argon is cheap plastic”, “AT is too DJ-ish”, “Pro-Ject has QC issues”, etc… and I’m kinda lost.
So yeah, what would you actually pick for my use case?
And is auto-stop something I should just give up on if I want better sound / upgrade path?
Would really appreciate real-world experience 🙏
