Breguet Tradition 7097 alternative strap

Hi guys, I finally obtained a rose gold 7097 and is thinking of changing its strap. I’m thinking of ordering the strap from “Made by Tan” with the traditional spring bar.

If anyone had ordered an alternative strap, could you share the size for this watch? Is it 21mm lug and 18mm buckle?

Has anyone find an alternative butterfly clasp in rose gold that matches the rose gold watch color?

Thank you!

Al

Breguet type 20 with the khaki nato

Just love this watch.

Initially picked it up because I didn't have a pilot watch and wanted something different.

I wear it more than any watch lately because I just love the combination of the design elements in this watch: the oversized crown, the "fluted" bezel, the green hour markers and the oversized minutes counter just make it never boring to my eyes.

Bonus points for it's versatility with the various strap styles, this one makes it pop more.

That Barrel Shaped Case Is Something Else

one of the most distinctive case designs out there. That barrel-shaped silhouette gives it a really unique character

My first Breguet! and what happend next...

After years of yearning for a Breguet and in specific a 5817 with the Guilloche Dial, i made the plunge when i reached an important work milestone. After browsing the web, looking at watches for sale and negotiating with dealers I found the perfect example and pulled the trigger. A nice 5817 with full set box, papers and freshly serviced including 2 years of warranty on the movement.

But during the second day after wearing it to the office and leaving it on my desk while I was play hockey in the evening I came back to a watch that was running slow, by about 15 minutes. After being away for about 4 hours, which is an crazy amount to me. After leaving the watch on my desk overnight (without touching it) the watch was slow by about 6 hours in the morning.

After communicating with the seller regarding this issue they asked me to continue wearing the watch and to monitor the timekeeping. While wearing it the first few days the watch was keeping perfect time while worn, but if layed down during the evening/night timekeeping was completely off. And after 4 days the watch even stopped running while I was wearing it.

After notifying of them of the stopped watch during wearing. The seller want to take the watch back for inspection/repair. They think it might have been damaged during shipment to me (box didn't look like it had taken a beating) and suspect an issue with the power reserve.

I have several watches but something like this I have never encountered. So I want to reach out to my fellow Breguet enthousiast for information and advice, does anybody recognize this type of timekeeping in a 5817? And if so what was the issue and how was your experience solving it?

The dealer has been very helpfull and understanding and I have good trust in their willingness to resolve the issue. But I do fear a strenuous process of diagnosis and service, and i want to be as informed as possible during this process. And get back to wearing my favourite (for now) watch in the collection ofcourse.

I'd appreciate all the advice and knowledge you could share, thank you!

First Breguet- 7337

Got my first Breguet- was thinking of selling it, but liked it so much gonna keep it. Finishing is unreal - including movement finishing. Beveling is so well done, no machining marks that are obvious. Comparable to Patek, nicer than AP or VC imo

WTS Breguet Classique Grand Feu Enamel Dial with papers!

Up for sale is my Breguet Classique 5140BA, 29/9W6, an elegant and highly refined dress watch from one of the most historic names in watchmaking.

This example is in excellent condition and features one of the most desirable dial configurations Breguet offers: a stunning silky smooth Grand Feu enamel dial. These enamel dials are especially sought after due to both their beauty and the difficulty of production-Breguet's manufacturing rejection rates for Grand Feu enamel dials can reportedly exceed 50%, making flawless examples like this particularly special.

The dial is absolutely breathtaking in person, with remarkable depth, warmth, and a smoothness that photos struggle to capture. Paired with Breguet's signature blued hands, classic Roman numerals, and traditional guilloché-free enamel aesthetic, this watch embodies timeless dress-watch design.
This watch is crafted in 18K yellow gold and comes fitted with:
-Original Breguet OEM 18K yellow gold pin buckle
-Recently purchased brown leather strap from the Breguet Boutique on Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles (receipt included)—Two Breguet OEM straps included!
-Original Breguet warranty booklet/papers

Condition
• Excellent overall condition
• Case presents very well with only light signs of wear consistent with careful ownership (anything visible is just a smudge)
• Dial is clean and beautiful
• Strap is recently purchased and in great condition

Purchase Price: $11250+ shipping (Payment made by Zelle or Wire).
I'm happy to provide additional photos, videos, or answer any questions for serious buyers. Plenty of references available upon request.

Thanks for looking.

My rotation

My watch box has 16 watches with a good mix of Swiss, Japanese and German brands, so I appreciate all types and brands of watches. But, it ends up that these two beauties get almost all of the wrist time. I do wear suits to work often, so I may not be typical these days, but these two fit almost every situation for me outside of beach/beater and I usually wear a Scrufa in that situation. Do most of you wear Breguets most of the time?

7037BB vs 7027 (white gold, 37mm)

Got to check out the new novelty 7037bb at the boutique the other day, such an incredible watch. This is my 7027 in white gold next to it. And the second pic with the 7037 on my 6.5” wrist.

Ever since they announced this model, I have been thinking about “upgrading” my 7027. Not only is it far more sporty, it just improved on every part of the 7027 and is far more striking and handsome. The only thing that didn’t improve is the price!

I entertained the prior gen 7037 bc I loved the retrograde second complication so much. But the 38mm wears more like a 40mm bc of straight lugs and no bezel (and case being not-thin/barrel shaped) and it just was too much watch. Despite the new one being the same 38mm, I’d be willing to overlook it just given how awesome it is.

Anyone own one yet? Or had the opportunity to see in person? Curious your thoughts and experiences with it or any of the new novelty line…. Breguet has had a great last year.

Cheers

Breguet Serial Number Chart for Dating Watches

Found this online and thought I'd throw it up here as a reference tool for others. This is essentially from Investcorp's purchase through Swatch which kept the system.

Anything from the Roth/Chaumet Era is considered "Pre-A" and highly desirable and would run from 1975-1986 (Roth stayed until 1988)

From 1970-72 Breguet was essentially dead and selling old stock. The Chaumet brothers bought the IP from George Brown for some ridiculously small amount of money and sold it for $45M in '87.

The Browns owned Breguet from 1870-1970. IMO their best watches were during the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. There are also some excellent examples in mid 20th century with the OG Type XX in '53 and and the "Empire" watch but they mostly followed the fashion of the times with some tanks and chronos and what not.

Reference Note: The Breguet Empire is a rare, mid-20th-century dress watch (produced from the 1940s through the 1960s) featuring an 18k gold coin-edge case, hand-finished guilloché dial, and legendary observatory-grade movements like the Peseux 260
