Dear Brompnots, Titanium Advice

So as more financially astute tri-fold cyclists I'm seeking your advice, due to the vast savings you have made on your bike, you have possibly lavished it with after market parts to make it better in all ways. Me having stuck with the old faithful brand, made in Britain, purchased a P-Line, not the new heavier version, and I'm aiming at 10kg with mudguards, lights, and inclusive of the wheel reflectors. I'm considering a titanium stem, looking through historical posts, there are comments, for example, too flexible, didn't like it, went back to steel, aluminum won't fit.

Now I'm not adverse to a Frank-N-Brot, personally i feel they’ve sat on there hands, but this isn't the path I want to head down on here, so my question is any of you guys running titanium stems what are your thoughts on them?

My foldie bike has heavily rusted even though I’ve only been using it for around 5 to 6 months, and I’ve never ridden it in the rain. Is there any way to remove the rust and save the bike?

20" Brompton clones: Cranston D20 vs LitePro S20D vs Hexati Ti frame? Worried about future part compatibility

Hey all, hoping to get some informed opinions before I commit. I'm set on a 20" wheel Brompton-style trifold (which I understand is not "true" Brompton geometry). The three options I keep circling back to:

  1. Cranston D20, aluminum, disc brake, seems to be one of the more popular 20" clones floating around AliExpress / various resellers.

  2. LitePro S20D, also aluminum, disc brake, 11kg, 9-speed. LitePro seems more established as a parts brand, which makes me think aftermarket support might be easier.

  3. Hexati / Comeplay titanium frame from tibicycles.com. They offer a couple different "titanium tri-fold 20inch" and sell individual Ti frames/components. Pricier but obviously the dream long-term. One thing I did notice which drove me to write this post is how distinctly different these two frames look, even though they are both 20 inch. See this one versus this. Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me here, there would seem to be minor differences throughout each frame. Or maybe it could be the angle the photo was taken making stuff like the rear fork look "taller" in the latter listing? I'm just not sure.

My situation: I'd like to start with one of the aluminum bikes (D20 or S20D) and upgrade individual components to titanium over time, seatpost, handlebar, stem, fasteners, maybe rear triangle eventually. The endgame would potentially be swapping the main frame itself out for a Ti one down the road (probably from Hexati).

My questions:

Between the Cranston D20 and LitePro S20D specifically, is there a meaningful difference in build quality, geometry, or hinge design? Or are these basically the same frame coming out of similar factories with different stickers?

  • How standardized are the dimensions across 20" Brompton-style clones? I know the standard Brompton world has well-known specs (74mm front OLD, 112mm rear, etc.). Is the 20" clone ecosystem similarly consistent? The LitePro 20" frames I've seen list 100mm front / 135mm rear OLD with 33.9mm seatpost. Does the Cranston match? I noticed the rear rack designs are different between the two, so it got me wondering about how the rest of the bikes match up.

  • If I buy 20" Ti parts from Hexati later, am I rolling the dice on fit? Specifically thinking about seatposts (diameter), handlebar/stem clamp sizes, rear triangle/dropout spacing, hinge pin compatibility.

  • Has anyone actually swapped a 20" clone frame for a Hexati Ti frame? Did the rest of the build transfer cleanly?

Basically I want to avoid the situation where I sink money into Ti upgrades on a Cranston and then find out the Hexati frame uses subtly different spacing/diameters and half my parts won't carry over.

Any first-hand experience appreciated, especially from anyone who's done a partial or full Ti conversion on a 20" clone. Thanks!

Title: Ordered an A-Line as my first Brompton! Rear rack advice needed.

Hi everyone,

I just ordered an A-Line as my very first Brompton! I am looking for some advice on which rear rack I should buy.

My main goal is to have good stability and comfort when the bike is folded so I can roll it around easily. I am trying to decide between two paths:

  1. Going with the official Brompton rack.
  2. Buying an aftermarket option, like this Aluminum Alloy Folding Rack on Amazon.

I want to minimize costs, but I also absolutely do not want to void my 7-year frame warranty. Ideally, I'd like a rack that is easy to install and easy to remove from the frame just in case I ever need to take the bike in for a warranty claim.

Does anyone have experience with this specific Amazon rack on an A-Line? Should I just bite the bullet and buy the official one?

Thanks for your help!

Some Java Neo tuning options & tips

I am continuing to add the parts to the bike that I ordered before the bike even arrived.

See the Cybrei cranks on the second pic... Well that is a normal road bike crankset with a 24mm diameter, 92mm length axle that I assumed was a standard Shimano Hollowtech II, or rather I thought the Neo was using a normal road BB. But when I took the stock crankset off (Cranks, rotor, pedals: 1106g) I realised the BB width was huge, I could not tighten the bolt on the Cybrei cranks enough, the spindle was not long enough. I was sure I wasted a ton of cash on cranks I could not use. But as a last resort I wondered about the BB standard and took it out... To my surprise there are 7mm of spacers in there! Remove the three spacers, cranks fit! So to others out there, I am not sure about all Java bikes, no idea about all Neo's even but before wondering what cranks fit, remove your BB and confirm what you actually have to work with.

So Cybrei cranks, Rotor chainring and KCNC Kyrex pedals along with a seat I have laying around added.

Total weight now is: 7.89kg.

I want any suggestions for light weight basically anything I haven't touched. Bolt kits, latches, the rear suspension etc. I am deeply looking into a drop bar conversion also, I already have a 25.4mm drop bar on order, i'll try shims to get it to clamp in the I think 28.6mm clamp. But the drop bar conversion will add weight, might have to go insane replacing kind of everything brakes and all to make up for it.

If I can still have the fat tyres, drop bars and maybe a rack while still being under 8kg that will be ideal. It's the dream.

Finally got my Java Neo 3 Carbon

So I ordered this a long time ago, got it delivered today. First pic is with new wheels, tyres and rotors. Second pic is stock, 3rd pic is my Canyon Grail and forth my Tyrell CSI, just for perspective on my comparisons.

So... Stock.. Its fine but coming from my other bikes it needs work. First off I run out of gears just getting out of my street (low top end speed). The brakes require half the lever travel to do anything but then bite hard. Lots of stopping force but all of it in like 20% of the travel. The stock pedals barely spin, the rear suspension block clanks metal against metal if you get air or lift the bike and the reach from where I sit to the bars is far too short. For perspective I am only around 166cm tall, but I want about 5cm more reach. I want to add drop bars but finding compatible ones will be tricky due to the small clamping diameter of the stem (was going to measure it but I seem to have sabotaged my own calipers). And on that none of my mounting gear I use on my Grail or Tyrell work as the bar diameter is too small, need a specific out front mount or shims/something.

The Wheeltop EDS is fine. Coming from the wireless Sram Eagle honestly its fine. I do have issues shifting however I have not tried to fine tune it yet as I will replace the cranks and rotor soon. It seems like once I dial it in a little for 1x SRAM vs the EDS is more or less the same thing, except my SRAM Eagle supports a 52T on the back...

Stock the bike is 8.87kg. With the new Odin wheels, Continental Contact Urban 405 50mm and SwissStop 140mm rotors its 8.55kg.

I still have Cybrei cranks, rotor chainring (52T, might need to by something like a 56 given my first impression), Kyrex pedals and a carbon saddle to put on, which I haven't bothered with till I buy a hollowtech 2 tool which I didn't realise I needed to remove the stock cranks.

I plan to make a video on this but I will give my initial impressions here first. Oh, almost forgot, the stock rear hub is crazy loud. Embarrassingly loud.

Mint T9d from Alibaba to EU (Germany)

Hello, I’m interested in the Mint T9d, which can be bought quite cheaply on Alibaba. The bike itself costs around €430 including shipping when purchased individually. I had calculated an additional €100–150 for import VAT and customs duties. However, I recently learned about an anti-dumping duty of around 50% on the purchase price when importing a bicycle from China. Because of that, I canceled the purchase.

Still, I keep hearing that people ordering from Alibaba often didn’t have to pay any customs duties at all. Those normal customs fees wouldn’t really bother me, but the anti-dumping duty would definitely make the bike unattractive for me financially.

So how does this look in practice? What are your experiences, and do I really have to expect the anti-dumping duty?

Best regards,
Christian

Mint T9D 349D Rear wheel hub / freehub noise, is this normal?

I recently get the Mint Parts T9D 349D 16" model. I found that the noise from the rear wheel freehub when rolling is too loud.. is that normal?
What can I do to dampen the noise?

BrompNot Shipping from Poland

Called an Evercross but it's clearly a white label Cranston. Apparently an early bird deal so price could go up after this first batch are sold off but this is a great sign that these bikes are now being brought into EU warehouses.

Cranstonbike.com scummers

Don't order a bike from them. I placed an order through their website on April 21, 2026. I still haven't received a tracking number from them. It's been 20 days already. And now they've stopped responding to WhatsApp, even though they were quick to respond at first. The most interesting thing is that I read reviews here that people received their bikes. I think these are most likely front people.

Electric D10 (Aceoffix®) Incoming ?!

No info from me. I had to download the RedNote app just to find pics and vids of this (I'm not even Chinese (but you can still option any language)).

Aesthetically, the seat post battery may not appeal to most, but for a commuter like me ... I need this bike!

I'm surprised there's no e-shifting as well (or does it need it?).

Keyde® rear-hub motor?

New to BrompNOTs!

New to the BrompNOTs scene!

20", 10-spd, chrome steel.

Was doing XC, then roadie and stopped riding for 6 years. Not familiar with foldie before this, but the ride is quite impressive actually. Best thing of course is the possibility to fold, dump in car and go. 😂

Questionnaire Coming Soon - Please contribute questions / data points to Questionnaire

Fellow BrompNot/TriFold owners!

I will soon ask volunteers in the community who are owners of these bikes to fill out a questionaire about purchasing a BrompNot or Trifold and their experience in order to help all people who wish to purchase one as well.

What questions should I ask / data should I gather to help all of us? Please contribute below.

So far I have thought to ask these questions:

If you bought a BrompNot or Trifold -

  • Bike model name, wheel size, gearing # (external or IGH) frame material
  • Where did you buy it from? —> Business - Link or Physical Location
  • Purchase Cost TOTAL - Please if possible break down all costs: Retail Price, Additional Sales Tax, Delivery Cost, Additional Fees at time of purchase
  • Additional fees once imported into country? Complications? --> Which country?
  • Time to Deliver to your address?
    1. Packaging Quality?
    2. You live in Major City, town, or very rural?
    3. What country was bike delivered to?
  • If you communicated with seller, good service? Modifications requested?
  • Tracking Number? Delivery Updates were provided?
  • Weight of bike upon delivery (before any modifications)
  • Folded measurements upon delivery (without pedals, saddle) .....

What other questions should I ask / data should I gather to help all of us? Please contribute below.

BrompNOT options in México

Hi, I'm from México and I'm really interested in purchasing a trifold bike but their not sold by local retailers in my country.

Does any one have any experience buying a BrompNOT bike and importing it into México? I'm especially worried about shipping and tariffs from Aduana, so I'm looking to see if there's any preference on buying from Aliexpress or directly from manufacturers like Cranston or Litepro so I get my bike and minimize the chance of it getting lost or damaged in transport.

Any guidance or feedback on what the best options could be would be greatly appreciated :)
