Revisiting the Campbell/Newsome deal

How would you grade Andrew Berry's decision to trade Newsome for Campbell?

Campbell is under contract through the 2027 season with an annual salary of $19M per year. While Newsome did not resign with the Jaguars, and opted to sign a 1-year deal worth up to $10M with the Giants.

Was locking in Campbell for the next three seasons the right move, or would you have rather kept Newsome and handled the position differently to free up cap space?

In honor of r/RustyCrusty73's post from earlier this week, what's a game we've had where you STILL cannot believe we found a way to win?

2007, the 33-30 overtime win over the Ravens. We choked a 27-14 lead after a 100-yard pick 6 near the end of the 3rd quarter. The double doink FG at the end of regulation ended up saving the game for us and we later won with a shorter FG (all hail Phil Dawson, the best kicker in expansion Browns history).

Where are you seeing the Browns this year ??

I hate this time of year because it drags on until we get to see the boys on the field in Berea during camp.

I am stoked to see them in Nashville, New Orleans and possibly Cincy.

I am also planning on attending a few games at home, but not sure which ones aside from the Steelers TNF game.

Curious where everyone else is seeing Monken and company.

Go Browns !

Browns social media stays committed to being just as embarrassing as the team themselves.

Because I'm a glutton for punishment, is there a game we've had where you STILL cannot believe we found a way to lose? Anything specific stand out.

I've been getting a lot of old random Browns highlights on my YouTube feed.

Most of them are depressing because they're losses.

But occasionally I'll see a fun one that we won.

I actually just watched the 2014 comeback against the Titans and it was fun.

This had me curious ....

Is there is a specific loss that you STILL cannot believe happened?

Before we start I want to rule out a few because of how obvious they are.

  • The Dwayne Rudd helmet game in 2002.
  • The Steelers & Chiefs playoff losses in 2003 and 2021.

^^ Please DO NOT select these games ^^

I have two games that stand out like a sore thumb:

First is in 2007 on the road in Pittsburgh. I think we were up 21-3 early in the game and found a way to completely blow it and lose 31-28. The offense just completely shit the bed in the second half and couldn't do anything. We needed that game badly too. I remember listening to it on the radio while I was working a 12-hour shift at Circuit City. We were doing store setup so it wasn't actively on any televisions anywhere.

Second is in 2021 on the road against the Chargers. Our offense was absolutely clicking on all cylinders that day and we had a 27-13 lead in the 3rd quarter and somehow ended up losing the game 47-42 because our defense was putrid. That was the game where we had over 500 yards of offense and zero turnovers and still lost. I think we were the only team to ever do that. That game was an absolute back breaker. I think we would have been 4-1 had we won.

What specific loss still makes you want to drink bleach?

PS - I know this might be a doom-and-gloom kind of post because we've been such a skid mark on the NFL's under pants since returning in 1999, but I genuinely do like the roster that AB is building right now and think we're a good QB away from entering a good window of competitive and competent football. I hope we can get said QB1 next year in the draft. Hang in there everyone. Good days are coming.

Who’s your pick for our starting O-line?

“Here’s the Browns offensive line situation heading into training camp:

Todd Monken said they have 4/5 starting linemen figured out.

🔸LT — Spencer Fano (R)
🔸LG — Zion Johnson
🔸C or RG — Elgton Jenkins
🔸RT — Tytus Howard

Here are the guys battling for that 5th spot:

🟤C — Parker Brailsford
🟤C — Luke Wypler
🟤RG — Teven Jenkins
🟤RG — KT Leveston
🟤T/G — Dawand Jones
🟤T/G — Austin Barber (R)
🟤G — Zak Zinter (just kidding)

Who do you think will lock down the 5th starting spot on opening day?”

JEUDY Top 10 in Receptions, with 2:00 remaining.

I was honestly surprised here.

Of course we're all wondering about drops on the final 2:00; but I digress.

PLASTIC

I'd love to hear more about the head "split open" from a plastic beer bottle.

Y'all remember this?

You'd think the Refs would do their fuckin job afterwards? ...but NO

Why doesn't this happen more often?

Why can't the NFL have FULL Time Refs, and a public rating system for their performance?

Not resigning to Joe Flacco to trading Sanders….

I pray Sanders wins the qb battle but am I only who is worried me might see a repeat of the 2024 offseason?- the browns decline to bring Flacco as the back up (even though he played well and got them to the playoffs) to avoid there being pressure of Watson a the start of the 2024 season. If Sanders loses the qb competition would they be dumb enough to do that again? Trade away sanders so Watson doesn’t have to look over his shoulder?

Arnold ?

Would AB be crazy enough to pick up Arnold with his horrific legal situation right now ?? He is a great young Corner... who is in a lot of trouble right now.

The PLAYERS of the NFL overwhelmingly want to play on grass. The data shows grass is safer. The BROWNS new field HAS to be grass regardless.

So, did Clay forget we got a whole new Offensive Line; is this ranking based off anything tangible?

I feel like OUR BROWNS get thrown at the bottom of a list as a placeholder, or predetermined Washington Generals for kicks.

The Offensive Line should absolutely be capable of MID tier play, if not better; realistically.

New Stadium in Brook Park

After watching this video about the Bills new stadium opening this year, I can't help but feel disappointed the Browns chose to go the indoor route. I get all the benefits of indoors, more events (ie more income), possibility of hosting a Super Bowl, etc....but this Bills stadium seems to really address the problems of outdoor stadiums well....especially when you consider that the weather is arguably worse in Buffalo thanks to the lake effect snow blowing east off Erie.

I fear this new stadium will price out most of the typical crowds we've seen at CBS (I'll never call it by its stupid corporate name), going from beer and brats to wine and cheese. Sure you'll always have the dummies living beyond their means who will pay exorbitant prices for a nosebleed PSL, but the crowd will definitely change. It already has a little since Muni.

Edit: Later on I shared this with r/BuffaloBills in this thread and it's interesting to see the different responses.
