buying UNUSED item

Hi everyone, this is my first time using Buyee, and I won my first auction, which was for a Meta Quest 2. At the time, I didn't think about a few things, and now I have a lot of doubts. I hope I didn't buy something that doesn't work or that I'm being scammed. My concern is the terminology used. Meta Quest 2s are usually used, and the listings clearly state that. In this case, it just says "UNUSED," nothing more. Reading this, I would have thought it was a new item and that it should work, but now that I won the auction, I have a lot of doubts. I'd like to know about your experiences with items that only say "UNUSED" without any further information. I'm worried and should have asked more questions about the item.

Basically got scammed by a seller and didn't get a refund

So basically i was buying on the fleamarket and spotted this DS Lite which i basically bought in an instant as the seller said "New and Unused", on the description it said it didn't came without the box but the rest of the stuff was included.

Okay, not that bad it's alright. But then the item arrived at the warehouse and it came MISSING PARTS.

I tried contacting buyee about this saying that on the announce the console was "New and Unused" and now that it arrived it came with missing parts. They said that my request of a refund was too "ambiguous" and told me a refund is out of question.

Dude i basically got scammed

Shipping cost questions

Hello, i am wondering about shipping costs from buyee, specifically shipping cameras to Australia.

i bought one point and shoot film camera the other day, cost roughly 35 AUD shipping via EMS.

im just wondering how much does shipping increase if i was to buy say two or three cameras and consolidate them or better to avoid consolidating? does it go up linearly or will it only increase a little bit per camera? bit annoying that you cant get the shipping price until after you have already chosen to consolidate! also found the "shipping estimator tool" to not be particularly accurate.

also wondering about the shipping options, i have heard EMS is a pretty good option to go with, but are the cheaper options that much worse, or are they just slightly slower? i couldve gone with one that was half the price of EMS, dont remember what it was called tho, how risky are they?

i have already bought two cameras for roughly 7 AUD each, so im not too worried if the shipping is expensive ish as they were already very cheap.

if anyone has some answers for me that would be fantastic! thank you very much.

JP Post to U.S.

Hey sorry I’m kinda new at this. Earlier this week I had the option to use JP post on my last shipment because the shipping was half the cost of ECMS air parcel. My main question is will I need to pay additional tariffs once the package arrives in the U.S. like when I use DHL or FedEx ? I probably should have asked this before already choosing the shipping message but just trying to prepare myself for a possibly super high tariff bill. Thanks in advance.

How much would shipping be for a single deck of playing cards?

Hello
I would like to purchase a party game from Japan which consists of basically just a deck of playing cards.
The size of the box would probably be 10x10 centimetres. A few grams of weight.
I’m a buyer located in Europe. Has anyone any previous experience with how much shipping costs for an item like this would be?

buyee being slow at placing orders has caused me to miss out on items numerous times now

like the title says… they really should streamline the ordering system, especially order via URL. this has happened to me too many times to count now but this most recent time is extra frustrating because I stayed up really late to place a purchase request on Buyee the moment the item I wanted released (12 pm Japanese time). it took them 6 hours to confirm the item stock, which I paid for immediately, but the item sold out a few hours later and Buyee never got around to ordering.

instead of check stock -> I confirm and pay -> wait for purchase, why can’t it be: I pay when I request them to check stock -> they check and order immediately if still in stock? it’s just the additional waiting, which sometimes means an extra day, that’s been really frustrating… 😵‍💫

I have used Buyee for years now and it’s been fine overall and I trust it as a proxy, but recently it’s been pretty slow with checking & ordering and I keep barely missing out on things I really wanted!

Should posters be shipped separately on Buyee to save money?

I've purchased two pretty large posters - one B3 (36 × 51 cm) and one B2 (51 × 72 cm).

I've also purchased a VHS and may add some other items (books, DVDs etc.) over the next few days. It's all currently sitting in Buyee waiting to be consolidated.

I'd like to receive everything in the cheapest way possible (to Australia), so I was wondering whether it would be better to:

  • Consolidate everything into one package once all items arrive? or...
  • Consolidate the 2x posters into a separate package (ideally together in the same tube) so they don't make the VHS/books package unnecessarily large and expensive.

I asked Buyee directly and their answer was basically "it's usually cheapest to consolidate, but sometimes it might not be", which left me more confused than before. What would you do?

How does vat work with a coupon?

So I’ve decided to get something which is over £135(I’m importing to the uk).
With a discount it comes down to about 170ish but I was wondering is all the import fees will be calculated on the discounted price or the original one.
Thanks!

Is there an accurate way to know shipping prices beforehand?

I've heard that buyee's shipping prices are crazy, and that a lot of people pay stupid amounts of shipping on small stuff, after already committing to a purchase. I was wondering if there was like a calculator site or a rule of thumb to go by when guessing shipping prices beforehand?

(Idk if this is important, but im buying manga from

book-off)

Insane shipping cost?!

Its 13 figures and consolidated packing. I feel like I'm paying way too much to ship. I sent an inquiry about it and the possibility of breaking up the package in two in hopes of reducing the costs.

Missing items

This is the second time I’ve bought a magazine where the seller states the inclusions will be included and they are not. I didn’t contact buyee last time about it just took the lost, but I did this time. Do y’all think they will do anything about it?

How accurate is the international shipping estimation for Small Packet (AIR)? + some other questions

My first time using Buyee, this site is genuinely terrifying with how uncertain I am about things. I'm tossing up buying an item, partly as an experiment for learning the site. It's a secondhand seller on Mercari. Item is about 800g, and for Australia the cheapest shipping price (AIR) is doubling the cost (unsurprisingly).
Together it's 1700 yen base price, plus 500 service fee, 500 plan (btw, is this one necessary considering its just a small item?), 1770 estimated international. Domestic says its paid for by seller so I assume I don't have to factor that in? Also 10% Aussie GST, eugh. Not sure which parts of that equation count for the 10%.

Still, it'll end up maybe ~20% better of a price than the average local retailers down here, and not many places even have stock.
I might even just wait for a stupid good deal from Buyee, even if the shipping cost doesn't change.
So, is the estimation accurate for single, small items? I don't want to end up paying a bunch more and making it not worth it, considering it's not a huge improvement from locals and is a step up from base value (I mean it's not that bad. I might just be greedy, I see way worse costs for other people).

Even better, should I know about any first time coupons or anything to cut down on that shipping?

Sorry for yap

Is it truly that bad?

I was looking at buying all of the jjk manga volumes off of book-off, but they don't ship overseas so I have to use a proxy. I've heard some good, but also a lot bad about buyee, and I was just wondering if what I heard was right? or if there seems to be so much hate because the good experiences just don't get talked about, and it's actually safe to use
