CORDLESS CAR PLAY

I have an older car but want to get a touch screen mount for maps since I’m no good with directions, but it seems like they all have chords that go over the front of the stereo system.

Is there a way to cut out the chords?

There has to be some sort of solution, something that connects a Bluetooth charger plug to the device instead of a cord… not enough space in my car to have chords flying around everywhere & illegal to use phone

Carplay to av?

Is there a way to do this? Id imagine there could exist a product that acts as a carplay unit that displays out as hdmi. Then youd have to just buy an hdmi to av adapter. Im fine with losing touchscreen functionality, but I cant seem to find any product that works that way.

A rare driving companion experience in any ecosystem - launching today

Hello,
I’ve been working on a driving app called Speedometer: Driving Tracker for a while, and it recently got approved for CarPlay in the Driving Task category.

That approval process is surprisingly strict - very limited UI, no custom buttons, and a strong focus on safety; so getting through it meant a lot.

The app originally started as a simple speedometer, but over time, I expanded it into something more like a driving companion. It tracks trips, shows analytics, and tries to make driving data more visual instead of just numbers.

Some things it currently supports:

  • Trip tracking with detailed stats
  • Route playback (including 3D-style views)
  • Visual trip sharing
  • Fuel, maintenance, and expense tracking
  • Driving pattern insights and comparisons
  • Video recording with speed + map overlays
  • iCloud sync across devices and backup
  • Privacy-focused (no ads or tracking)

The idea is to offer something beyond what most built-in dashboards show, while still working within CarPlay’s limitations.

Would love to hear any thoughts or feedback.

Issue with Apple Music sorting

I'm facing an issue with listening to my Playlist in newly added order.
The sort order in my phone is set to newly added, but the moment it connects to Carplay, it goes to oldest. Then I'll have to re-sort while connected.

I keep doing this everytime i connect. Any workaround?

CarPlay Infotainment System Issue - Chevy Trax

I bought a brand-new 2025 Chevy Trax 1RS back in 2024, and I’ve had ongoing issues with the infotainment system. It was glitchy, and the backup camera would randomly switch to a fisheye view and even stay on while I was driving.
About a week ago, the dealership replaced the entire infotainment system. Unfortunately, the day after I picked it up, I realized that wireless Apple CarPlay no longer works. It works perfectly if I plug my phone in, but not wirelessly.
I’ve tried just about everything I can think of: restarting my phone, forgetting and reconnecting both my iPhone and MyChevrolet, resetting the infotainment system to factory settings, testing my boyfriends android… no luck.
I do have it booked back into the dealership, but the earliest appointment is three weeks away. Has anyone else run into this after having their infotainment system replaced? Any suggestions or fixes I can try in the meantime?
Sincerely,
A very frustrated Chevy owner. 🚗😅

Continuous Siri Not Working via CarPlay IOS 27 DB2

I see videos on YouTube with reviewers using the new Siri AI (iOS 27) in a continuous mode( like having a conversation). I have a 17 pro max and use a ottocast for wireless CarPlay because my 23 Camry doesn’t have native wireless CarPlay. I can not get continuous Siri to happen. I can say hey Siri and I get a response but after that Siri will stop. I get continuous Siri to happen on my phone but not CarPlay. Is the adapter preventing this?

Audio not pausing for Google Maps directions

I had to delete and reinstall Google Maps on my iPhone. Ever since the reinstall, whatever I am listening to (car radio, podcast, Apple Music, etc) doesn’t pause. Instead both the Google Maps navigation and what I’m listening to play simultaneously. I cannot figure out how to change this back to the way it was before.

Same issue on Google and Apple Maps

Once I hit “start” it’ll flicker to the proper screen with directions and immediately go back to this view. Happens on both Google Maps and Apple Maps. Any idea?

All I want is for the now playing module to remain large vertically

In the first picture, I can see the whole song name and I am happy. As soon as I turn on directions (using Google Maps) the directions stretch vertically to squish the music module, so I can’t see the whole song. There is so much wasted space on the directions part, it drives me crazy. Is there any way to force the now playing module to maintain its height? Please help, thanks in advance!

CarPlay Split Screen Disable?

Hi all!

My CarPlay in my 2020 i3 is not full screen. On the left I have my normal CarPlay and then on the right I have the BMW iDrive software. Disabling split screen in the iDrive simply takes away all info from the r/h side of the screen but the CarPlay still only takes up half of the screen. Is there any way to go full screen?

Thanks in advance!

Fixed persistent CarPlay issues on iOS 27 Beta (iPhone 17 Pro + Honda CRV) by hard resetting the car’s electronics

Hey r/ios, r/CarPlay, and r/Honda,

Just wanted to share a fix that finally solved my frustrating CarPlay problems after nothing else worked.

The Problem

After installing the iOS 27 beta, CarPlay on my iPhone 17 Pro in my Honda CRV started acting up badly:

•  Connections dropped intermittently (sometimes every few minutes, sometimes once an hour).

•  Eventually it stopped connecting completely — both wireless and wired.

•  I tried everything:

•  Restarting phone and car multiple times

•  Forgetting the car in iPhone Bluetooth/CarPlay settings (and vice versa)

•  Resetting iPhone network settings (RIP all my saved Wi-Fi networks)

•  Full restore back to iOS 26.x

•  Different cables

Nothing brought it back. I gave up for a few days and resigned myself to waiting for Apple to fix it in a future beta.

The Fix That Worked

Out of desperation, I decided to hard reset the car’s electronics to factory defaults. This wipes all settings in the car’s infotainment system (Bluetooth pairings, radio presets, navigation settings, etc.), so only do this if you’re okay with that.

Steps I took:

1.  Went into the car’s settings menu.

2.  Performed a full factory reset / hard reset of the electronics (exact menu path may vary slightly by CRV model/year).

3.  After the car rebooted and reset was complete, I tried connecting my phone again (I had gone back to iOS 27 Beta 2 because my Apple Watch wouldn’t downgrade properly).

4.  It connected immediately — both wireless and wired.

It’s been several days now and CarPlay has been rock-solid with zero drops. Feels like it did on stable iOS 26.

Quick Notes

•  This seems to be a deeper compatibility issue between the iOS 27 beta and the car’s head unit that a normal “forget device” or phone-side reset couldn’t clear.

•  Resetting the car (not just the phone) was the key.

•  If you’re on iOS 27 beta and having similar CarPlay hell with a Honda (or possibly other makes), this might be worth trying.

Would love to hear if this works for anyone else or if Apple has acknowledged similar issues.

TL;DR: When phone-side fixes failed for iOS 27 Beta CarPlay on Honda CRV, hard resetting the car’s infotainment system to factory defaults fixed it instantly.

Hope this helps someone avoid the frustration I went through!

Tried everything still can’t connect to CarPlay for my Audi A4 2017

I never had a problem with my wired connection with my iPhone 11, switched to an iPhone 16 and cannot get CarPlay to work.

What I’ve tried so far:
- Bought an anker usb a to c cable which says data transfer and specifically mentions CarPlay
- Updates iOS
- Reset my Audi to factory settings
- Forgot all the connections to the car on my phone

Still doesn’t work. The phone charges but nothing happens on the car. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Oddly specific - Toyota IQ

A very specific question but has anyone added CarPlay to an early model Toyota IQ?

I’ve got a basic solution added to mine at the moment but has zero cable management etc.

Has anyone here added one with the add-on head unit or something similar???
