What car shuld I buy (Budget 13-14L )

Hello everyone,

I’m planning to buy a new car in the next few days and would really love some suggestions from the community. Currently, I drive a Hyundai i10 Sportz, and after almost 12 years, I’m finally planning for an upgrade 😊

My budget is around ₹13 lakhs, and I’m specifically looking for an automatic car with mostly city usage. Since I’m moving from a manual to an automatic, my biggest priority is a smooth and comfortable drive within city limits.

The options currently on my mind are:

• Hyundai i20 Asta Knight Series (Petrol)
• Skoda Kylaq (Petrol)
• Toyota Taisor (Petrol)
• Toyota Glanza (Petrol)

For EVs, I’m considering:

• MG Comet EV
• Tata Punch EV

I’ve been getting mixed reviews about the Skoda Kylaq — especially regarding service costs, spare parts pricing, and long-term maintenance. Some owners say the driving experience is fantastic, while others mention expensive upkeep and inconsistent service experiences.

Similarly, for the Tata Punch EV, I’ve heard great things about the car itself but mixed feedback about Tata’s after-sales service experience.

Would really appreciate honest suggestions from owners or anyone who has driven these cars extensively. Please help me choose the best option for reliability, smooth city driving, comfort

Suggestions/Guidance

I am first time car buyer. Learning rn, And we are looking for a good car for around 10-11, What i shortlisted till now is Amaze VX CVT, Sonet HTK (O) 7DCT, usage will be less cause i am in metropolitan city so two wheeler makes more sense. under 40km and occasional highway experience

Amaze: 10.20 L (on road with tax + everything) 3+2 here too (1.2L)

Sonet: 11.17 L (On road with tax + everything) it giving 5 years unlimited km warranty (1.0 L turbo TGDI)

I really liked Sonet Interior and it's colour scheme, but amaze interior wasn't very appealing in short amaze was giving me commercial feel but sonet was like personal vehicle feel

What are your views and suggestions. Would appreciate your guidance!

any other you wanna suggest?

I built a free EV trip planner for long drives in India

TL;DR: EV Grids — free EV trip planner for India. Enter start/end (and optional stops), get a driving route with ranked charging stops, battery % along the route, and one tap to open the full trip in Google Maps. Not a nav app; it’s a planning layer on top of Maps.

Why I built it

Most “EV route” tools either dump every charger on a map or assume Tesla-style dense networks. On Indian highways you care about which DC stop is worth the detour, whether your car can reach the next reliable CCS point, and what happens if your first choice is down.

I wanted something that:

  • Plans long domestic trips (multi-stop, round trip, or A→B)
  • Filters by connector type and minimum kW
  • Explains why a stop was picked (detour vs power vs rating)
  • Estimates ₹ charging cost (editable ₹/kWh)
  • Lets you share a trip link with family/friends

What it does today

  • Trip planner — vehicle presets (Nexon EV, Punch EV, MG4, BYD Atto 3, Ioniq 5, etc.) or custom range
  • Charging stops — primary + fallback stations along the corridor, not only “nearest pin”
  • SOC chart — estimated state of charge along the route
  • Food near stops — quick Places lookup (~1 km) for breaks
  • Corridor guidespopular India routes (highway notes + one-click prefill into the planner)
  • Google Maps handoff — full route with waypoints when you’re ready to drive
  • Share trip — copy a link; others can open the same plan

Stack (for the curious): Next.js frontend, FastAPI backend, Postgres/Supabase cache for routes & chargers, Google Geocoding/Places/Directions.

What it’s not (yet)

  • Real-time charger availability (uses Google + cached data; always verify in app before you commit)
  • Live traffic / dynamic rerouting while driving — use Google Maps for navigation
  • Perfect coverage in every remote pocket of India — vague region names (“Kashmir”) work better as specific cities

I’m still improving reliability and speed; it’s a side project I use for my own trips.

Try it

Site: https://www.evgrids.in

Example flows:

  • Hyderabad → Visakhapatnam
  • Bengaluru → Chennai
  • Delhi → Jaipur

Or open a corridor page under Routes, then hit Plan this trip.

Feedback welcome

I’d love to hear from people who actually road-trip in an EV in India:

  1. Are the stop suggestions realistic on highways you drive?
  2. Which car presets or connectors are missing?
  3. Would you trust this more with PlugShare / Statiq / Pulse style data?

I’m one developer — be blunt. If something breaks, tell me the origin → destination and car/range you used (no need to share account details).

Disclaimer: Pet project, not affiliated with any OEM or charging network. Always confirm charger status on-site or in your usual apps before stopping.

Buying MG Comet EV. Is this the best price I can get?

I'm looking to buy a MG Comet EV - Excite Variant in Bengaluru. This is the quote that sales person has shared. He is further offering a 10k cash discount or in accessories.

Is this the best offer or is there further room for negotiation?

Below is the accesories list and their price. It seems to be that these are slightly inflated price.

How can I optimize the purchase? I'm not going for the loan. I'm thinking of using a Credit Card. Which one can give the best cashback? What were your experience?

Swift or Fronx

With a budget of ₹8.5 lakh, I’ve narrowed my car choice down to the Maruti Suzuki Swift VXi and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx Delta. But now I'm confused between the two, Swift seems more practical for its size in a city like Delhi, as I used to drive one before (2012 model), while Fronx feels more SUV like and looks good too, honestly I'm leaning more towards Fronx only.

My usage is very very less. I commute by Metro only for work. Which one would you recommend and why?

Why is there no good online space for Indian car enthusiasts? (Not CarWale, not Facebook groups)

Been a car guy for a while and I genuinely can't find a decent place online to talk about cars with other Indians.

Team-BHP is great but feels like it's stuck in 2005. Facebook groups are full of spam and "bhai konsi car loon" posts every single day. CarWale is just listings. Reddit is decent but very basic.

What I actually want is a place to find local car meets near me, buy and sell OEM parts without getting scammed, talk about mods, find road trip buddies, and connect with people who own the same car as me.

Does something like this exist and I'm missing it? And if it doesn't, would you actually use it if someone built it?

Drop what you wish existed in the comments.

Loving my new Mercedes CLA 250+, but the ground clearance is giving me anxiety. Need advice on underbody scrapes!

Hey everyone,

I recently took delivery of a new Mercedes CLA 250 Plus, and honestly, it’s an amazing car. Everything about the ride, the tech, and the look is just incredible.

One thing I was genuinely terrified about before buying it was the sunshade/panoramic roof. I live in an area that gets insanely hot, and I feared the cabin would turn into an oven. To my surprise, it’s not a problem! The insulation and AC handle it beautifully.

But here is my dilemma: I am completely new to cars, and the low ground clearance is giving me minor heart attacks. I’ve already scraped the underbody a couple of times on nasty speed bumps and steep inclines.

I have absolutely no intention of stopping driving it or letting this ruin the experience, I love driving it way too much already. But I want to protect my investment.

I have a few questions for the owners here:

  1. Is there any realistic way to raise the ride height of this car? Higher profile tires? Suspension tweaks? Or is that a terrible idea?
  2. What kind of actual damage am I looking at when the underbody scrapes? Should I be rushing to a mechanic every time I hear that awful sound, or is there a protective guard down there?
  3. Any tips or driving techniques to avoid this?

Would love any advice, ideas, or reassurance you can throw my way. Thanks!
