Slide Projector Slides: Confirmed Unnamed Slide Name Reveal

Edit- TL;DR: One of the 3 mystery unnamed Slidescapes is possibly called "The Void".

In both Control and Control: Resonant, we are given names for majority of the 9 Confirmed Slides that Jesse and Dylan found at the dump.

They are:

https://preview.redd.it/xynt9hn0hwuh1.jpg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5901d8fbed9540966b744dd5b76c2778c6accd72

The Temple, The Playhouse, The Meadow, The red slide (the one Trench took), and The Hand/Slidescape-36.

Out of the remaining 4: we now know that one of them is The Gap which is confirmed to be the 9th slide that was the conflicting information between Jesse and Dylan's stories.

That leaves 3 Unnamed slides that are still a mystery.

However, I believe I've discovered the name for one of the remaining slides!

I'v mostly been replaying all of the Faults looking for clues and information that we may have missed.

In the Faults, the landscape is made out of whatever it can use. Jesse and Dylan, being the only things of substance in there, means that it takes from their very essence, even repressed/suppressed memories, to create structures for them to traverse the Fault. I wanted to see what could be learned from this place that seems to be built based on both Jesse and Dylan.

The Oldest House Fault and the First Hedron Link:

I found something interesting when traversing through final Fault at the Oldest House and more when reaching the first Hedron link to sever.

While going through this Fault, unlike the previous Faults, this one is now using images and structures from memories of the Oldest House.

One thing the Control games like to make a point of is that Signage is important for making your way around the maps. By following signs you have a higher chance to make it to where you want to go.

Interestingly, the Oldest House Fault also has signs, however, the signs aren't for leading you anywhere. They have interesting information hidden in them.

https://preview.redd.it/m2kcgi5pjwuh1.jpg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d4167fbe85d8c57690e6153b2845f8b76c8c544a

As you're making your way to the "Source of the Patterning", the signs start pushing Dylan in an interesting way. The first sign you see, and the few following, point Dylan toward Ordinary and Home.

Reaching the end of the Fault it starts getting somewhat more interesting.

https://preview.redd.it/6f3942c7kwuh1.jpg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82415dc70f1dac273e61da43b4ef70fd6338e142

Not only pushing Dylan towards memories of home, as well as possibly facing his trauma during P6 training, the signs are now starting to point towards Slidescapes.

After completing the Fault, Dylan's next task is to sever the Hedron link on the roof of the Oldest House.

When entering the Fault (is it a Fault?) we are still presented with Oldest House structures, with, guess what... MORE signs.

https://preview.redd.it/821oyqvwkwuh1.jpg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e2e920fbf4bd6791b67ce1401fc655a3b3f85777

This time the signs have Slidescape names!!!

While on the the way to the first Hedron boss we are given the names of some of the named Slidescapes.

But ONE caught my eye:

THE VOID.

Could this be a reveal?! One of the 3 remaining unnamed Slidescapes is called "The Void"? Or is it referring to the Faults that they're in?

Naming convention would follow that this is the name of a Slidescape. Am I onto something?

Anyone else would like to chime in with thoughts?

I wish you could lift up cars and launch them

I absolutely love this game. But i feel like there's so much more potential for gameplay in the city if you could throw cars, street lights, or order object in the environment at your enemies. I hope we get a dlc where these types of abilities were are possible.

It is absolutely fucking ridiculous the swarming difficulty of this game. I'm in the middle of the sink hole and I swear to god they are doing everything to make me not wanna play this game anymore.

Fucking sick of this shit.

Soul crushing boss fight (Spoilers)

Anybody else had their soul crushed fighting The Deserter? When I first saw em I was amazed by his size then I felt so sad thinking of his story, eyes got watery seeing how he fought and the music just made it worse. I was not expecting that at all. This game is so amazing in ways I didn’t even expect.

What would you like to see in an update/patch?

You can throw out your ideas for DLC story content, but I'd really like to know what y'all would like to see in gameplay mechanic / quality of life updates.

  1. Weapon Swap. This one seems obvious. Give us a way to swap to another aberrant form on the fly.

  2. More Aberrant forms. My dream would be an Aberrant Shield form that unlocks a parry mechanic (I know Remedy said they played with idea but it slowed combat down too much). Maybe you have a little meter that builds up with offensive attacks and then only when full could you activate a parry that could fill the falter meter or something.

  3. Zoe playlist in free roam. another obvious one. have it mute or muffle when talking to NPC's. bonis if it comes with a walkman accessory. (I wanted this feature in the first death stranding so bad). swipe touchpad to access caseette settings.

  4. I wouldn't mind seeing a little breadcrumb trail on the map so we can see the last 50 steps we've taken (like in Breath of the Wild). makes exploration a bit easier (could toggle off in settings if not your jam)

  5. Saved outfits. Give us three to five slots for outfits we cobble together that we can choose without having to go in and assemble it piece by piece every time.

  6. Small nitpick. when we use fast travel doors, let us move around map or zoom in and out as opposed to being locked to only seeing the small area around each door.

  7. More skins. let us play as Zoey or Langstrom. Alan Wake or Jesse, Ahti. Still with Dylan's moveset just a skin, no story relevance. I like this feature from Goldeneye or even MGS5 where you could take on missions with just about any skin featured in game. just fun.

Dr. Darling's fate

This is one of the mysteries I was expecting Control Resonant to expand on, but I don't think was adressed at all. Darling disappeared shortly before the start of Control. I always assumed he had ascended or transitioned into some other dimension or plane of existence with the help of Hedron. However, with what we've learned about Hedron, it seems likely that he would have had a similar fate to the resonants in the new game. In one of his final videos in the first game, Darling mentions that he can feel the Hedron resonance chaning him after he exposed himself to it. There's no physical trace of him, but he somehow managed to communicate with Jesse through the Hotline. To me, it seems like the communication was not from the past, or at least from after he dissapeared, which suggests that he retains a sense of self resembling the person he was before his disappearance, unlike the resonants. So, what do y'all think happened to him?

Spoilers regarding ending

Considering what we now know Hedrons to be capable of in terms of their powers and the patterning - is it possible that the OG Polaris patterned Jesse Dylan Faden into the siblings?

Maybe this makes no sense I was just wondering about it. Perhaps since the original child was a powerful parutiliarian it didn't work like it normally does? Also since CR states it was old and dying.

CR also states to not think of Polaris with any human emotion in terms of it's actions (which I agree with mostly) but considering Jesse says that it helped with closing the slide projector when they were being attacked by the not mother stuff I kind of assume more agency than just destroy hiss.

This game is a masterpiece

I'm baffled by some of the reviews. It should have been a 9 minimum. Genuinely one of the most engaging impressive well thought out level design and just plain trippy and weird in the best possible way.

GOTY

Wait. What Polaris was chanting was...

...Patterning!

"Grow brighter" = Dylan was basically lit-up to the max by the Hedron

"Around one constant, they revolve" = Patterned things typically look like revolutions of an object many times around one axis!

Was Polaris trying to teach Jesse how to Pattern??? Or maybe tried to Pattern her in some minor way?

What's wrong with this puzzle?

I was exploring the map when I came across this puzzle in a coffeeshop. You're supposed to turn on the appliance in order from smallest to largest but no matter how many times I tried to turn on soda machine or the microwave (the blue rectangle) the puzzle reset itself. So I eventually gave up and turned on the espresso machine... AND THAT WAS THE CORRECT STEP!!!

I was so confused that I just closed the game.

Ending Thoughts (spoilers ahead)

Soooo, finally finished it. Tbh I kinda predicted the ending, though I had thought that Jesse would also live. As far as guess, she took his place, right? Like in some way they exchanged their meta physical places? And no, I don't think she's actually dead, per se. Pretty sure she's in another dimension or something that the next game could potentially explore.

The hiss also becoming the weapon itself was something I did not see coming. Pretty cool that part. And then going through the entire ending to kill the Hedron was really awesome.

Getting the CD Player as a reward is also something I found amusing. Pretty rad. And them keeping the ending open ended is kinda bittersweet, but honestly, with the kind of story it is, this was the best possible ending.

Dylan's character arc, seeing his and Jesse's relationship, him finally finding a place and friends who genuinely care for him... All in all 9/10 ending.

10/10 game though. Had a blast playing it. A beautiful journey and some rather jaw dropping game direction. Can't wait to see what they come up with next.

UPDATE: Visited Jessie. And now, the story is officially completed!

P.S. did anyone find themselves wishing that we had explored Pope's relationship with Jesse a bit more in maybe a dlc of the last game? I'd have loved seeing that develop I think. The story about watching the stars together again was so sweet. Low-key sad remedy took that from us. Maybe in the next one?

Wall blocking "Into the Sinkhole" exit?

There's this wall here, and I have no idea how to move it? Every tutorial I watched doesn't have it in the way. I... have no idea what to do?
