Is this worth it? Can it game?

Title. Budget is around 650-700€ max so I think this is pretty good for a brand new machine within my budget.

Got free upgrade from ancient laptop parts ^^

I hope Im using this flair right.

I upgraded my G50-80 ram from 8gb to 12gb. Then instead of dual booting windows and Linux i dual drive dual booted them. It was kinda hell the process cuz of my mistakes but windows runs so smoothly now. 10 years of gunk lol. So with my 1tb hdd, I added 320gb of extra storage for linux. Some sectors are bad but I dont mind. As Im hoping a year minimumn. Might get a sata ssd if it doesnt.

I hope my hinges will last a year in college. Im hoping I can unscrew two screws so that I can try repasting it. Performance wasn't boosted that much, but its much more capable. I remember dreading the time when a friend turned it off and it took 30 minutes to boot up. If we dont need advanced or heavy software Its definitely gonna be capable. If I can manage my hinges haha.

Im hoping to be able to convince the fam for a refurbished thinkpad in the future so I can actually use this flair right.

MX330 on Subnautica 1 and below zero

Specs:

I5 1135G7

8GB single channel DDR4 ram

MX330

Subnautica 1;

Preset: low

Resolution: 1080p full screen

FPS: 50fps with occasional stutters that reduce some performance (like 20fps) in the creepvine area, lava zone and alien gun turret, and some other areas with heavy foliage

My settings were just low preset with bloom turned off, I got basically the same as the low preset fps

Preset: medium

Resolution:1080p full screen

Bloom is off

30~ fps with occasional stutters that reduce performance a lot, especially in the creepvine areas

Subnautica BZ:

Preset: medium

Bloom: off

Resolution: 1080p full screen

FPS: 50-60 fps consistently with occasional stutters that impact performance minimally

What would be the best High-End gaming laptop money can buy rn?

ok real question… are expensive gaming laptops finally GOOD now or do they still come w a bunch of compromises??

i move around a lot these days so desktop isnt really ideal anymore, but spending that much on a laptop still feels kinda insane lol

main things i care about are thermals, build quality, screen, and not sounding like a jet engine while gaming

what high-end laptops actually impressed you??

C2D E8400, 9800GTX+, benchmark spreadsheet in progress

I finally had some time to test games on an old PC I have, and I created a spreadsheet that shows the resolution, graphics, frame rate, and 1% lows. The operating system used is Windows 7.

The spreadsheet is a work in progress. I will continue to update it as I test more games. If anyone would like me to test certain games, let me know.
