From trash to statement pieces for my living room !!!

Hi 👋 !
I found those on the curb , and I thought that would be an awesome project . They did came out really nice .

Let’s go see the process :

Made of stoneware, from the Portuguese extinct Campos e Filhos from the city of Aveiro , these bottles were made with a distinctive glaze : salted glaze or “casca de laranja” ( orange peel ) . The process : Salt glazing is a traditional ceramics technique where common salt is introduced into a high-temperature kiln. The salt vaporizes and the sodium reacts with the silica and alumina in the clay body, bonding to the surface to form a durable, glossy, and subtly textured "orange peel" glaze.

It was really hard to drill but with patience I was able to finish the task. I had to find and fit the brass from my “collection” of brass fittings. Applied a selective polishing to get more depth .

The shades were found on the trash. A just clean them up and painted . My skills on the painting are astonishing 😂😂😂🤷‍♀️. Well, I just applied some very cheap acrylic paint ( the only colors that I’ve had in the house in that moment)

High end fabric cord and old school replicas switches .

I think I’ve made some pretty decent job with those .

What do you think?

Comment/ share / ask about !!!

Stop buying “luxury” bathroom decor that becomes disgusting after two weeks

I’m convinced half of modern bathroom decor is designed for photos and not actual humans. Especially bath pillows. I said what I said. Every ad shows somebody peacefully relaxing in a spotless bathtub with candles everywhere like they live inside a spa commercial. Meanwhile in real life most people use the thing for maybe a week before it starts trapping moisture and smelling weird. That is not “luxury.” That is bad design. I bought one earlier this year because honestly my tub is uncomfortable and I thought maybe it would help during long baths after work. Reviews were glowing. Thousands of stars. “Hotel experience.” “Game changer.” All the usual stuff. First few days? Actually great. Then reality showed up. The suction cups stopped sticking properly. Water got trapped inside the mesh padding. Drying it became annoying. And if you forget it hanging there even once, it starts feeling questionable fast. I even went down a rabbit hole comparing different bath pillows online, including random Alibaba listings where identical products somehow had ten different brand names attached to them. Same photos. Same descriptions. Same fake sounding reviews. That instantly killed my trust honestly. And before somebody says “you just bought the wrong one,” maybe. But that’s exactly the issue. Too much bathroom decor is built around appearance instead of daily use. Here’s my opinion: If something lives in a wet environment, it should be easy to clean completely. No excuses. I’d rather have plain towels and a solid bath mat than ten trendy “spa” accessories collecting mildew behind the scenes pretending to be self care.

restoring two headed lamp

I found this lamp on the street. It has two necks. One of them seems intact and I was able to put a lampshade in it. The other side is missing the cover for the lamp socket, and the holder for the lampshade. What parts could I potentially need? I’m okay with the two sides of the lamp not looking the same.

Need ideas for ceiling

I really need advice on what to do with my bedroom, specially with the ceiling/walls. So I have taken basically everything off of my walls, because I am going to re do them, and then I decided I want to re do my ceiling as well. I definitely want to keep the same style with having little to no white/blank spaces on my walls, and I kinda want to do that with my ceiling as well, but probably a little less. I also don't think I am going to put the vines on my walls again, just ceiling. I found an idea of putting LED strip lights to on the ceiling in a spiral shape, and I thought it looks really cool, but people on Reddit said it wouldn't look good and would also be hard, and I don't doubt that. I have tried searching up things to do for my ceiling but nothing is really coming up that I like. I am getting some more colorful garlands to hang, but other that than all I've seen is tapestries or posters and I don't really like the look of those. I also added some pictures of these I found for my wall that I thought look cool to show the aesthetic/look I'm going for, (but with less blank spaces). Any advice and recommendations is appreciated!

Has anyone designed a room around an aquarium without it becoming too distracting?

I’ve been thinking about adding a fish aquarium to my living room because I really like the calm atmosphere they seem to create, especially in spaces that feel a little empty or flat. The idea of having soft lighting and movement in the room sounds relaxing. But I’m still unsure how practical it is long term in an everyday home setting. I’ve seen setups where the aquarium becomes the main focal point of the room and others where it blends naturally into shelves, cabinets, or divider walls. Some designs look incredibly peaceful while others seem too bright or visually overwhelming for smaller spaces. I even spent some time browsing eBay, Alibaba, n Amazon to compare tank styles, lighting setups, and stand designs. But it is difficult to know what actually looks good in a normal home versus staged photos online. My biggest concern is balancing appearance with practicality because maintenance, wiring, filters, and cleaning all seem like things that could become frustrating if the setup is not planned properly from the beginning. For people who already have aquariums as part of their home deco. Did it genuinely improve the feel of the space over time, and what size or placement would you personally rec for keeping the room calm and visually balanced?

Vintage Kars Kazak

A wonderful Turkish Kars Kazak with an eagle design, handwoven with vegetable dyed wool. Kars Kazaks are usually wool on wool pieces, making them deceptively heavy rugs.

Size: 5’6 x 7’10

My bedroom is very large and has attic slopes. I am very confused about what art to fill in. How to make it better. I am not very much into making in designer like but it should feel cozy and comfortable when I go to sleep. Due to the size of the room, i had to take two pics to capture entire room. My son also sleeps in the same room in his bunk bed

  1. Please tell me what do you think about the current set up. What should i add . What should i remove.
2 I have put art in 4 walls but i don’t like them anymore and I am wondering what art to put in.
