Contemporary estimates put the first wave as high as 15 feet and moving at roughly 35 mph. It killed 21 people, injured about 150 and smashed buildings and elevated-rail supports. A court-appointed auditor later found that structural weakness—not the sabotage alleged by the company caused the collapse.
I previously posted about understanding my great grandmothers death certificate, now I am very appreciative to those who responded and shared ideas. I think I can now comfortably come to a conclusion. Thanks all.
Now this one really gets me in a puzzle, as I can’t find a case like this in this age bracket.
BORN - 1956 in Southern England
DIED - 1998
AGE - 41
GENDER - Female
LOCATION - at the freeman’s hospital after being transferred. Near Newcastle upon Tyne
ill for 3 days.
In an I.C.U
Any help on understanding her cause of death is greatly appreciated.
This is the UK death certificate of my great grandmother:
BORN - 1908
DIED - 2003
AGE - 94
GENDER - Female
Smoker - No, however I can believe that her farming life and upbringing may have exposed her to perhaps a weak lung, as her husband and fellow farmer had Farmers Lung.
In terms of family heritage - her mother was 80 (double the life expectancy), she did not know her father. all of her immediate family members lived past the life expectancy, often significantly.
Life - not in a home, living with her daughter and grandchildren. Active person. Good lifestyle.
I just can’t understand how a 1 step trip killed her, and I also can’t understand why she couldn’t have made a recovery.
Any help on understanding her cause of death is greatly appreciated.
A note on this funeral home form (13 year old girl) regarding a request for the cosmetologist....:(
According to newspaper reports the couple were both ill and had decided to end their lives together. My great-grandfather stayed in Ireland and his three brothers went to the US so I'm not sure if he ever knew what had happened to him. He was the brother on the right in the photo.
She was only 33. She left behind a husband and a 12 year old son.
I don't have an Ancestry subscription anymore, so I'm not able to look up how long they were married, but it couldn't have been very long.
Here's Ricky and here's Donna.
Tragically, Ricky's brother Robert (24), a lineman, died from electrocution the following year. Then, just 5 months later, his wife Christine (21) died in a car accident. I do wonder if her death wasn't exactly an accident.
Two young couples dead in two years.
