What Are Your Meanest Decks With Rare Commanders?

We all know about the Grand Arbiters of the world, but what about your more niche decks? Be it an uncommon commander or a common commander twisted into something more mean? I want all your most original, degenerate, and cruel strategies that spit in the face of John Battlecruiser to no end.

Personally, I’ve got a few fun ones—a [[Heidar, Rimewind Master]] B3 stax deck, a [[Mangara of Corondor]] control deck, a [[Kamahl, Fist of Krosa]] control deck w/ a MLD finish (don’t try this at home unless your pod is okay with it!), a [[Diaochan]] control deck that systematically removes everything that ever was…

And for common commanders taken in more unique ways, I have an [[Alela, Artful Provocateur]] Esper Pixies deck that has become a friend’s most hated deck ever, somehow, to the point of a blood vengeance against any Alela card whatsoever, alongside a [[Norman Osborn]] tempo/mass discard deck that has the punch of a discard deck without any of the weaknesses.

Finally, for the truly B4 decks, I have a [[Korvold, Gleeful Glutton]] stax-ish deck that ramps out Korvold on turns 2-3, draws a bunch of cards, and unloads stax pieces to stop people from catching up (w/ Protean Hulk combos as a finish) and, my favorite, an [[Ajani, Nacatl Pariah]] high 4 stax deck that has arguably been far and away the most successful of any of my brews in terms of raw power.

What do you have? Share some decklists and ask questions! If there’s a neat commander you haven’t made but want to break, share that too! Maybe it’ll give me inspiration, y’know?

Degenerate mono red chaos brew.. feedback pls?

Hey guys i'm brewing up a deck for each of the colors and with my original idea of zada aggro being discarded due to the SL coming out i pivoted to a different idea, krark without a partner, but all the chaos. Wincons are few, with the most direct one being [[chance encounter]] and i guess the occasional dmg spell and pressure from [[descent into avernus]], so far i didnt have the opportunity to test it out, not even online, so i'm posting here to have some degen heads take a look and maybe even give some suggestions. Any feedback is welcome, does it need more ramp? Have i missed any chaos causing cards? This is not something thats supposed to sit comfortably at b4 tables, but still be degenerate chaotic fun for the right pod,

Cheers.

*HELP* I need to trim, and tune Lumra

I keep finding cards that I believe would go great in a B4 Lumra deck, but honestly dont know exactly what direction to go with it to make it work. I am looking to budget build this as much as possible. If I could get some suggestions for cuts, additions, and overall direction, that would be amazing as I am looking to buy the cards this weekend to officially build for the upcoming magic night.

I labeled what cards I own vs have to buy on archidekt.

Deck Opinion

New to magic and have a pretty upgraded B3 hearthhull deck. A group I play with have been playing at my bracket with me as I’m new with one deck. They all have higher power B4 or Cedh decks though and I would like to make a B4 deck. Originally I was looking at proxying winota as she looked pretty fun. I do however have a light-paws I bought in anticipation of getting a silver quill deck (never got it) and was considering building up a light-paws Voltron deck, I understand winota is actually cedh viable (fringe I guess) and light-paws might be a bit on the boring side after a couple of games? Any thoughts? I’m not looking to be a cedh meta player just have a higher power deck which from my understanding would put me in a powerful bracket 4 since neither is meta cedh deck?

Vishgraz, the doomhive as powerfull and fun as it could be

So im trying to build the strongest possible deck for vishgraz and phyrexian mites and not be an aristocrat only deck.

At the moment i reached a point where i have 2 directions i could take, one is playing with a bunch of blink spells that allow me to blink vishgraz in my opponents turns so that i can surprise attack my oponents, and playing cards that make unblockable my mites.

Pros of this strategy: opponents are not expecting to be hit with 3 or 6 mites in a random turn or if everything goes well in theory you could sneak attack 1 lethal to 1 player.

Cons: you dont make a lot of mites at a time, you create a smaller board of mites but feel strongers since they dont die.

https://moxfield.com/decks/8OUPiaDIaECgH4NLVP-bpQ

Second play strategy, is going full creatures with etbs and spells like teleportation circle that allow me to blink any creature, and having creatures like [[ravenous chupacabra]] allows me to control a bit more the board while giving me a body and more options.

Pros: a little bit more control oriented while building a board, also more recuring blink effects.

Cons: tou look more of a theat to your opponents if you create a bunch of mites on your end step and since they cannpt block you are vulnerable to being focused and killed in one turn

https://moxfield.com/decks/j1jbmwC8skeufrHYxr4ijQ

Any card suggestion that could work in either gamplane is welcome, also i tend to go play to my lgs, so my opponents decks are always changing and matches typicaly end after turn 6 or later.

My lgs does friday commander night tournament for small prices, so other players are trying to win, not just building bad decks to be funny

How Do You Impress Your Friends with Your "Draw All The Cards" Deck?

Do we need disclaimers? I feel like I need a disclaimer.

My meta is High Bracket 3 / Bracket 4. Nobody is impressed by stereotypical combos/commanders/wincons - we've been playing for 10-30+ years and are deep in the spice. No cards/combos off limits if you can pull it off with style.

Draw-Grow

I'm working my way through archetypes that I haven't played in a while and I don't have a "CardDraw.dec" deck. I am looking to build something that will reliably draw almost the entire library every game.

BUT!!!

I need it to be cool. Just this one time, I need it to be cool. I need wincons that don't make the table groan in displeasure. I am a fast player and can find lines in a 60-card hand without taking a 20 minute turn, I just need some cool lines.

So far this is my decklist: Toluz, Clever Conductor (High Speed Railed)

Current wincons:

  • Draining out the table with [[Scrawling Crawler]] / [[Sheoldred, the Apocalypse]]
  • Milling out the table with a giant [[Windfall]], [[Whspering Madness]], or [[Jace's Archivist]] while strategically discarding a shuffle titan to keep myself from decking
  • Slamming a 40+ card [[Awaken the Erstwhile]]
  • Slamming a 40+ card activation of [[Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor]]
  • Zombie hordes with [[Cryptcaller Chariot]] and [[Tormod the Desecrator]]
  • I KNOW this one is gonna get me cancelled, but I keep having a sickening dream where I draw a game with [[Sickening Dreams]].

Any other cool Esper synergies/wincons/strategies that layer into this beautiful discard-y pile? Any spice that you recommend? Any cards I should cut for not being cool enough?

New to CEDH - How can I make this deck closer to entry cedh?

I have been working on a Zurgo Stormrender commander deck that has been getting quite powerful but is still having trouble keeping up with some decks in my pod. I would like to push it a bit closer to a true entry cedh deck. The deck currently revolves around creating and sacrificing tokens, using aristocrats to kill opponents with etb and death triggers. I often sac tokens for draw, mana, and direct damage. Ive thought about adding cars like grave pact to limit my opponents board state but feel that a 4 drop may be a little too slow for my end goal. I will link the Archidekt and Moxfield deck list and post it as a comment. I do not post on reddit often so if there is an easier way for viewers to see the deck and offer advice, please let me know!

Thank you for the input! I know this commander will never be CEDH but I do want to make it as strong and as fast as I can to at least be able to confidently call it B4. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Eshki Dragonclaw?

I play in bracket 3 and have been having fun doing this deck with prepared creatures and adventure spells while also mixing in extra combat stuff. however, I'm not seeing a lot of wins and was wondering what you all would do to try to make this a little more degenerate.

lets make choco great again

I have made a chocobo themed final fantasy deck linked below.

https://moxfield.com/decks/jsPzx4mkuEWeKv4xiZvxxg

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice on improving my Chocobo-themed Final Fantasy MTG deck. I built it mostly around flavor and keeping the Final Fantasy vibe strong, but I’d like to make it more effective and consistent without completely losing the theme. Right now it feels fun when it pops off, but I’m struggling with speed, card draw, and keeping momentum once the board gets wiped.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations for cards, combos, mana ramp, protection, or even cuts that would help tighten the deck up while still keeping the Chocobo identity alive. I’m open to both casual and stronger suggestions, especially from anyone who has experience building tribal, aggro, or Final Fantasy-inspired decks. Thanks in advance for the help!

I found this weirdo in MH3 and something tells me there's some nonsense here.

I'm back into MTG after a thousand years away, and want to come back swinging. How do I make this absolute unit busted?

$30 Budget Tournament

As the title says, I am looking for ideas for a $30 budget tournament.

I have two rules I've set for myself:

- No Gimmick decks (ie. 3 cards and 97 lands)

- Nothing that I've played in a budget tournament before. (Magda, Malcolm/Kediss)

Beyond that everything is on the table.

Some decks I've been theory crafting are:

[[Xyris, The writhing storm]]

[[Omo, Queen of vesuva]]

[[Joira of the ghitu]]

[[Eshki, Temur's roar]]

[[Svella, ice shaper]]

[[Chulane, Teller of tails]]

[[Brigid, clachan's heart]]

[[Iroh, grand lotus]]

[[Ovika, Enigma Goliath]]

[[Squall, Seed Mercenary]]

[[Zethi, Arcane Blademaster]]

I would love any and all ideas or thoughts on this.

Raffine, Scheming Seer - "Draw Tribal"

Hi there!

"New player" here, started playing MTG in November 2025.

I started brewing [[Raffine, Scheming Seer]] because I usually like "go wide" strategies, and having card draw built-in seemed quite cool (other than that it's a literal SPHINX DEMON, how cool could that be with the amazingly menacing art?!).

Here is my current build that aims to be high BR3 / BR4, to play with pods at my LGS with Yuriko / Y'shtola / Baral / Satoru / Green Goblin, etc.

https://moxfield.com/decks/LuucEB1xf0Wxc49LpqzIvg

The questions are:

  • Am I missing some secret tech piece that I should use?

  • Can I improve this list further without spending too much money? (I know that I can proxy, but I like to proxy only cards that I can then proceed to buy, not insane stuff)

For reference, here is my other "main" deck, that is a [[Terra, Magical Adept]] "as turbo as possible":
