I Think I Remembered a Life I Never Lived

I was around 15 and in high school when this happened and I can still remember it as I still have this story on my notes (I wrote it the time this happened to me, so I wont forget it).
So I was at my friend’s house and saw a group photo of some of their relatives. I didn’t recognize any of them and never asked my friend about the photo.
But the moment I saw the photo, something suddenly flashed in my mind. I saw myself with one of the men in the photo, we were in the garden of that same house. I was running away from him while he chased me, and we were both laughing and having fun.
It felt like a memory, a real flashback, even though I knew it had never happened. And somehow, I had this overwhelming feeling that he was the love of my life.

I’ve never understood what that was. Has anyone experienced something similar?

I've experienced Deja Reve for years, but this is a new one...

I had a dream within the last few years of walking into this massive stone building with ceilings that were probably 50-75 ft tall, massive stone steps leading up, and sculptures I couldn't quite make out. It looked so otherworldly I didn't think twice about it other than it was just another wild, but regular, dream.

Well I was watching this girl's reels on instagram about a horse riding trek in Egypt. The girl mentioned that they take you to the *brand new* Grand Egyptian Museum and put an image of it on the screen.

My jaw hit the fucking floor. This was the place in my dream...

This is a new one for me. I've never seen a picture of a place in a dream of mine before having been there. Even wilder that it only just opened at the end of last year!

So anyway, I'm planning a trip to Egypt now 😅

DAE know how to "force close" deja vu? It takes a massive amount of willpower, but a sudden movement completely deletes it.

Usually, my deja vu lasts for about 5 to 7 seconds. Most people just freeze up, stare into space, and passively wait for it to pass.
A while ago, I discovered a way to completely counter it, though I've only done it a few times and eventually gave up because of how much effort it takes.
The trick is to catch it in the very first split second. The moment the deja vu hits, your brain falls into a deep stupor. It feels like an intense, heavy wave of laziness—like your body desperately doesn't want to move. But if you force yourself, push past that "I don't want to" feeling, and make a sudden, sharp physical movement, the illusion breaks instantly. It completely wipes the feeling clean out of your mind.
It honestly feels like a "force restart" for the brain before the bug can even load. But overriding that mental paralysis is so exhausting that lately, I just stopped doing it and let the deja vu happen.
Has anyone else experienced this heavy stupor during deja vu, or tried pushing through it to snap out of it?

Recurring involuntary “memory flashes” that I can’t explain — has anyone experienced this?

I’m not diagnosed with epilepsy or any type of seizure disorder, and I’m planning to see my doctor and ask about a neurology referral. I’m hoping to hear from people who may have experienced something similar.
Over the past year and a half, I’ve had this happen a few times. The episode I had today was exactly the same as the previous episode. The only difference is that the previous time it felt more intense, so I remember noticing it more strongly.
What happens is extremely difficult to explain. I’ll suddenly get a millisecond-long flash in my mind that feels like a memory or a tiny scene, but I know it isn’t one of my actual memories. It also doesn’t feel like a normal dream or the usual déjà vu I’ve experienced before.
The flash happens so quickly that I can’t even describe what I saw afterward. It’s almost like my brain gives me a tiny fragment of something and then immediately takes it away. I don’t consciously think about it or make it happen. It just appears in my mind and disappears.
During an episode, I remain completely conscious and aware. I don’t lose consciousness or awareness of what’s happening around me.
I’ve noticed that when I’m overwhelmed, these flashes can happen more frequently — sometimes as often as every 10 minutes. Other times they’re much less frequent.
The weirdest part is that the flashes seem to have this feeling of being a memory that isn’t mine, even though I obviously don’t know whose memory it would be. I don’t literally believe I’m accessing someone else’s memories; that’s just the closest way I can describe the sensation.
I’m not asking Reddit to diagnose me. I’m just wondering if anyone has experienced this particular kind of extremely brief, involuntary memory/vision flash that disappears before you can even identify what you saw.
If you’ve experienced something similar, what does it feel like for you?

Hot showers trigger intense auras + dream flashes, but MRI and EEG came back normal? Lost on next steps

Hey everyone, looking for a bit of advice or to see if anyone’s experienced something similar.

Every time I take a hot shower, it triggers these really intense auras along with rapid, back-to-back flashes of past dreams (kind of like extreme déjà dream / déjà vu).

I went to a neurologist about it recently and they ordered an MRI and a standard EEG, but both came back totally normal. The thing is, the episodes haven't stopped, and I'm feeling pretty stuck.

Where should I go from here? Should I go back to my current neuro and push for longer testing (like an ambulatory EEG), or try to get a second opinion with an epileptologist?

If anyone’s gone through something similar with hot water as a trigger, I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts or advice!

I broke the Déjà vu cycle

Ok, bear with me, cause I might sound crazy.

I've had intense déjà vu for the last couple of days, and it's all been bad feelings. Like, I know whats going to happen and couldn't stop feeling like something bad was coming. Well, I finally had a moment where I knew what was going to happen, but I intentionally did the opposite. Now the ominous feeling of déjà vu is gone and I feel SO much better. Has anybody else experienced this, is it kinda like final destination where something bad is still gonna happen even though I beat it?

Frequency of Deja Reve Question

Hey all!

My question basically is.. has anyone found things that seem to amplify their Deja Reve? (Higher occurences, stronger visions, etc.) And also, vice versa, has anyone found anything that has dampened their occurences?

Im curious as to if i’ve been unknowingly doing something that could be causing higher frequency for me, TIA!

First off, just want to thank the community for being helpful and welcoming with my first post a little while ago.

To keep it short, I’ve had Deja Vu my whole life, pretty regularly, as early as I can remember from my childhood, to now being 31. I just recently learned what Deja Reve is and that some of the occurences actually fall under that more than Deja Vu.

For about 3 1/2 years, I was in the military, had zero dream recollection and zero Deja Vu, that I can remember. I always had it prior to that and it seems it has been coming back with a vengeance since I got out. Slowly building back up even stronger than before I went into the military. (Not going to get into why I think I didn’t have anything during my time in, could be multiple variables)

Daytime flashes of nighttime dreams

Does anyone else experience a flash of the prior night's dream during the day? It's like it comes to the forefront of my mind for a second only to slip away out of my grasp.

Déjà vu, but way weirder.

Information : Hi, so I'm 15, male, weigh around 130 pounds, and am around 5'3. I want to start this off by saying that I don't smoke, drink, or do anything considered illegal or irresponsible for my age. I'm currently taking prescribed Lexapro, one pill per night (or however you spell it idk, but i don't think that should impact what I'm about to say.). I live in Japan, but this has been happening for as long as I can remember, even when I used to live in the US.

So basically, whenever I zone out, or I basically remove my consciousness from my body for a sec (like just mindlessly, autonomously doing tasks, I start to see these things, like little blips/visions of random things (example : a bowl of soup on a wooden table). And when it happens, I'm aware it happens, and I get the same feeling in my gut as Déjà Vu. And since realizing what they mean (as in, in relation to my life, which I'll explain momentarily), I think really hard about what they could be, because I only see them for such a short moment (like when you think about a process of things, and the first or second thing on that list pops up into your head for a split second before you move on to the next thing.).

And if you're thinking, "That just sounds like daydreaming, or something like your imagination going someplace else." , then please just listen to this next part. Eventually, I forget about these "blips" and I move on with my life, until, lo and behold, it happens, that exact "frame" that showed up in my "blip" pops up in real life, with its own context and individual situation (example : the soup bowl from earlier, turned out to be the final dish at a fancy mexican restaraunt with my family).

This has really f####d with my brain (apologies for the poor choice of language, I'm just really emotionally stretched from thinking about this), and I really need to know if; A. There's an actual name for this, B. There's other people who've experienced this, or C. I'm just a rare specimen, and I'm probably going to die or something 😭.

Thank you for your time.
