I'm super hyped for Denzel's new album! Who else is excited for "ii" and what are your expectations? I think we are about to get a banger guys!!!

Title mostly. To me these albums (especially Imperial) are just so incredible, like they all mean a lot to me and are probably the reason I listen to exclusively rap these days. This is gonna sound corny but I’ll always be grateful to Denzel for these albums, but I also hope he can still deliver albums at that level, but I’m ngl his following work hasn’t met the standard for me, although I still like them a lot. Thoughts?

A common thing I’ve seen people say/ask is if we’re getting another album after ii, as Denzel said earlier this year there would be a Denzel Curry solo project in the works, and in their eyes, ii is a collab project. However, there are a few reasons to believe ii is exactly what he was referring to when he said he had a second album this year.

For one, he said the next project would be “his most lyrical for sure” around this time last year. Difference alone seems pretty indicative this album is going to be him flexing his lyrical prowess.

For another, he said “We might have a surprise for that” when referring to his next project, in his Spotify wrapped video back in December. It would make perfect sense for the “surprise” to be that it’s a fully Kenny Beats produced project.

Finally, it doesn’t make sense from a marketing/distribution standpoint to release a third project. The physicals for ii aren’t out until December. He’s going to have to market those as is when they’re out everywhere. Marketing that at the same time as another project would be hell. Also, he’s about to go on a co-headline (not opening) tour. You’d think if a third, larger release was coming, he’d have saved tour for then. I’d love to be wrong, but there’s no reason to believe we’re getting any more than ii this year. And that’s fine.
