Which is better, Maribank or GoTyme?

Alin po ang mas worth it? 1% cashback ni Maribank or goreward points ni Gotyme?

For these purposes:
- Dining
- Grocery
- Shoping (uniqlo, sm store)

I’m not sure if it’s legitimate or a scam

Hi everyone, I received this email and I’m not sure if it’s legitimate or a scam.
Has anyone received something similar before? I’d appreciate it if you could take a look and let me know if there are any red flags I should be aware of. Thankiee

Maribank Credit Card Approved in Seconds

Finally, the long wait is over. Been a Maribank user since 2021 (Seabank then) and akala ko di na ako makakatanggap ng offer for Maricredit. Lo and behold, pag open ko nang account ko, may offer ako. Clicked the application by 16:18, application submitted by 16:21 and got approved by 16:21.

Although yung credit limit ko is 50k lang but I have an option to increase once nagpasa ako ng payslip but unfortunately hindi pa siya available right now but I’m happy na kahit papaano may credit card na ako and got approved in seconds. Yes, first cc ko po.

Maya virtual card to Google tap-to-pay

Hello, I'm new sa digital banks and I want to ask if I can use this virtual card sa maya for google wallet for the tap to pay feature? I don't have any physical cards kasi eh and everything that I see online is yung may physical maya cards lang naka connect sa google wallet nila. Hindi na sana ako bibili ng physical card since may gantong feature naman pala. And another question, diba sabi ni maya, may 1% cashback din daw, nag apply din ba yun dito sa virtual card? Please help, beginner hereee

First paycheck: What % breakdown and e-bank setup do you recommend for a beginner?

Hi everyone! I’m about to receive my very first paycheck and want to set up good financial habits right from day one. I’m earning around ₱20,000 – ₱25,000 monthly.

Since I'm completely new to personal finance, I’d love to get your advice and perspective on two main things:

  1. Salary Percentage Split:
  • How much of my income should realistically go toward Needs (rent share, groceries, utilities, daily commute)?
  • What percentage is reasonable for Wants / Fun money without feeling restricted or guilty?
  • How should I split my savings between an Emergency Fund, Short/Long-term Goals, and Retirement?
  • Is the classic 50/30/20 rule realistic on a starting salary here, or did you use a different split when starting out?
  1. Bank & E-Bank Allocations:
  • Which banks or digital banks (UnionBank, MariBank, GoTyme, Maya, Pag-IBIG MP2, etc.) do you use for each specific category?
  • How do you separate your spending money from your savings so you aren't tempted to touch your emergency fund?

I'm really eager to learn and build a solid system early on. Any advice, bank recommendations, or lessons you learned from your own first job would be greatly appreciated! Thank you and have a good day!

Help me choose the best savings account as a college student

Hello guys! I'm still a student with no source of income yet, just relying on my allowance, but I also want to start building good spending and saving habits. I want to organize the allowance I receive and set aside some of it so I won't be tempted to spend everything. I've read a lot of posts here already about the best digital banks, and I've decided to open a MariBank account mainly for cashback and spending purposes. For my savings, I'm currently choosing between BanKo and GoTyme. I only need one account specifically for saving, so I don't really need the multiple accounts/features offered by GoTyme. I currently have an account din sa bdo but planning to switch din to other traditional bank, If ever what's my best option din po dito?

I also excluded Maya from my options since I've heard mixed feedback about their customer service like mahirap lumapit whenever there's a problem. For someone in my situation, which would you prefer between BanKo and GoTyme for both convenience and growth?

need your insights/inputs about BanKo App

I’m currently saving money on Maribank and may nabasa ako na better mag-ipon dito sa BanKo of BPI. Can you guys help me to trust this bank. Tama ba yung ginawa ko na na simply open this account without going to their physical office? Plan ko sana na dito ko na ilagay yung savings ko and just use maribank as panggastos na card.

Thank you so mucho!

BDO phishing scam. What to do?

Problem: I received a suspicious SMS containing a link claiming to be a BDO pre-approved card offer.

I accidentally clicked the link, but I did not enter any personal, card or online banking information.

I have already locked my card and changed my passcode. May I ask what other security measures or steps I need to take to make sure my account is safe?

How to close extra BPI Deposit Account?

Hi! Quick question lang regarding BPI Savings Account.

Originally, I had a branch-opened savings account, but I recently added a second deposit account directly through the BPI App. Realized I don't really use/need the second one anymore, so I want to get rid of it.

Is there a way to delete or close an in-app opened deposit account remotely, or do I really need to go to a physical branch to close it officially?

Also, if I just empty it out to ₱0 balance and leave it alone, will BPI eventually close it automatically without charging dormant/below-maintaining fees?

TYY sa makahelp!😚

[Insert ko lang yung pic for reference, yung may 5k yung branh-opened account, them yung 0 yung in-app na gusto kong tanggalin.]

Digital Banks for EF? Is it Safe?

For context, I am building my emergency fund for a while now and putting it into a regular savings account in a bank but my problem is the interest is so low.

I’ve been looking at digital banks for a while now and thinking of transferring my EF (around 80-100k peso) to it. My only question now is is it safe? Maybe a dumb question 💀 lol but this is my hard earned money.

Saw this on threads. Do you also keep all your debit and credit cards?✨💳

Hawak niyo padin ba lahat ng debit and credit cards niyo simula noon? Some people collect and keep them. Kayo ba?

Can I open up a digital banks account purely acc just for saving

Hello! I’m kinda new to this subreddit since I recently found out about how you can save money in digital banks and they have the chance to grow. As a beginner with no savings at all. Which digital bank would be the best? I can only save about 500- 1k a month since my allowance is not that big, thank you so much in advance for ur inputs!
Is it advisable to just open up a digital bank account purely just for savings? I plan to do this kasi and just use the bank for saving and not spending at all.

Maya Wallet Card not working for tap-to-pay?

I've been using my Maya Mastercard for a while now, and I noticed that whenever I tap on any terminal (including Maya's terminal and the MRT-3/LRT-2's fast lane gates) leading me to insert the card and enter my PIN instead. The only sole exception is in 7-Eleven where it actually works for some unknown reason. I've tried explaining this to Maya Customer Support but they straight up told me that it depends on the POS (but isn't it weird that Maya's own terminals do not accept their own cards?).

Does anyone else have this problem? Hopefully this gets fixed when these cards eventually arrive to Apple Pay 🤞

Beginner in digital banks (student)

Hi, first yr college here. I want to try digi banks such as Maribank and Gotyme.

For maribank, lalagyan ko siya ng weekly spending allowance ko from main bank (kung saan naghuhulog parents ko ng allowance ko), then use it for everyday spending. So meron akong daily interest and cashback right?

Do u think this is wise or would work already as a beginner huhu. And can you suggest iba pang pwede gawin?

FINALLYYYY, may MP2 Savings na ako

Finally, after ilang years, nakapag-start na rin ng MP2. Matagal ko na siyang naririnig sa mga ka-work ko and hindi ko siya talaga pinapansin dati kasi marami pa akong responsibilities. And now na almost 30 na ako, saka lang ako nakalaya. So now, ang problem ko naman is yung unang hulog ko, di pa siya nagre-reflect. May delay ba talaga yun? Curious lang, although nakapag-research naman na ako na within 3-7 business days siya. Hindi lang maiwasang kabahan.
