Food Policy in regards to expired food

Can someone please explain the policy in regards to expired food at the venues.

How is eating one piece of expired food considered theft? Why is it grounds for immediate termination.

So if a chef tastes something to check flavor and temperature, is that also consider theft and is this grounds for immediate termination.

Please explain the rationality with this rule!

Shoes for Galaxy Edge

I just got assigned my role in galaxy’s edge attractions. I know we are allowed to wear brown boots and found a photo guide of what is allowed but just wanted to double check if these boots would be alright. I am just worried that they won’t be allowed because of the gold buckle. I need to know if should buy new boots or not because I want to have time to break them in before training starts and I don’t want to have to buy new boots if I don’t have to.

Missing Roommate?

I moved into FCV 2 days ago along with 2 other girls into our apartment. Everything’s been great but the girl i’m supposed to be sharing a room with us nowhere today be seen. All of her stuff is here and I think she’s been here awhile but she’s hasn’t actually been in the apartment for at least the last 2 days and we think it’s actually been longer. I understand having a man or friends to stay with but I was just wondering if this was normal??

First Week Scheduling

Hi! So I got accepted and start my program Aug 24, so very very excited. WDW is the only park/resort I've never been to so I went a little crazy in my arrival planning. I decided to book a fancy hotel to celebrate my getting in and start date, the Grand Floridian. That reservation begins on the 23rd of August. The plan originally was to move my things in that morning and join my family mid-day at the parks so we could all experience it for the first time together. I assumed traditions, and all other orientation-related events would happen sporadically, and now that I research a bit more, it seems like that whole day is going to be packed!
What is that move-in day and first week going to look like? Would it be worth it to just push it forward so the last day of my reservation in the 24th? Whatever happens, I'm so excited.

Unable to Sign Into Dorms?

I arrived two days ago and I was just trying to log into Dorms, but I can’t sign in. I saw earlier posts on here saying it was down yesterday, but I wasn’t sure if this was related to that or if they fixed it since then and this is an isolated problem?

What attracts older adults (35+) to the DCP?

Hey everyone! I want to start by saying this is absolutely NOT meant to be judgmental, critical, or shady in any way. I am just genuinely curious and trying to understand a perspective different from my own!

I’ve noticed there are a decent number of people over the age of 35 who do the program. I’ve even met a handful who aren't currently in school (since Disney doesn't strictly check enrollment status after a certain point).

I totally get the practical side of it, especially with how brutal the job market is right now. The DCP at least gives you guaranteed hours and stable housing, which is huge. But apart from the financial/housing stability, I guess I'm trying to understand the appeal of the lifestyle swap? Personally, the idea of going back to a dorm-style living situation with a bunch of 18 to 20 something year-olds sounds exhausting if you've already lived on your own for years.

For the older CPs (or anyone who knows people who did it later in life): What was the main draw for you?

GSO-GFR Concierge

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for some insight into what it’s like working as a Concierge / Guest Services Officer at Disney's Grand Floridian.

I have prior Disney operational experience (alumni here!), so I’m familiar with the general company culture and day-to-day cast life. However, the resort concierge world, seems like a whole different ballgame, especially at GFR.

If anyone has worked GSO there (or at another Deluxe resort), I’d love to hear your thoughts:

Is the management pressure or expectation for formal "show quality" significantly higher because it's GFR?

Are you mostly handling standard check-ins and tickets, or is it mostly high-stress, complex guest situations?

Also standard things like hours and the guest dynamics?

Would love any honest pros, cons, or tips you have. Thanks in advance!

Switching Units at FCV

PLEASE HELP ME AAAAA

Hey everyone,

Im currently set to move in to Flamingo on June 1st. This is my second time living there and the first time was fine but Im extremely nervous about this go around. I was searching for my roommates on facebook and someone responded saying they had the unit I'm set to move in to and that it’s a mess. Dishes piled in the kitchen, bugs in the cabinets, overflowing trash with stuff growing inside, and mold in the bathroom.

The unit that they mentioned is what Parcel Pending says I'm currently in, but I know this is not concrete and can change before I move in (and I know to take it all with a grain of salt, the person could be exaggerating but I don't think they are?). But I'm scared it wont change and I don't know how likely it would be that FCV lets me change units, maybe if I bug them every hour of the day?

Basically, any suggestions or advice y'all have would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!

Hello everyone! I hope your summer has been great! I have been luckily selected to be one of the character attendants at EPCOT. However, I am secretly a nervous ball of wreck and I really do not know what to expect. I completed like Welcome to Operations and One entertainment class at Disney University. I would appreciate as much survival tips and hacks regarding being a character attendant and maybe share with me (if you are a past participant), what are your must dos and somethings you would like to do over all over again. Thankiewww!

What should I do after moving in, before Disney Traditions?

Hi, my start date was today and I just finished moving in at Flamingo Crossings Village. I had my background check appointment today, but my Disney Traditions isn’t scheduled until May 22nd. In between today and then, are there any other things i’m required to do? When do I start training for working in my role (Costuming)? Is there a way for me to check my work schedule?

Also, I was so busy moving in and unpacking stuff that I accidentally forgot to go to the “Making the most of YOUR program” thing, which was supposed to be at 6 pm today for me. Was that required? I kind of assumed that it was just going to cover the same information as in all of those zoom meetings. But if that actually was an important meeting, is there a way for me to reschedule it?

Dorms Log In Not Working

Anyone else’s DORMs not working? I am a June 8th arrival and this is my second program. I went to go to login and pay my fees when it showed up with this message. I submitted request but I’m not sure if this is happening to anyone else!

I'm thinking of self-terming. any advice?

I work food & beverage at Hollywood Studios. For context, I have a few things going on that make the environment a bit harder for me than others. I'm autistic and I have accomodations but the place is so large they are often overlooked and it's kind of exhausting to keep reminding leaders. Also, I appear to do fine in training so they pass me but, I'm so overstimulated and exhausted when I come home from the consistent switching of tasks, loud noise, & masking. I have time for nothing else and I'm miserable. I'm trying to stick it out through training but, I'm having a really tough time. I also have PTSD. I keep waking up with panic attacks, not sleeping, and am an anxious mess at work. My trainers are nice. Everyone is decently nice but it's so fast paced and loud, it sucks everything out of me. The pay is good and keeps me coming back bc I'm not paying rent. Any advice? Should I give it longer? Did any of you eventually adjust? I hate it so much. I cannot envision myself in this role for 8 months. I don't even know how I'll last a month, honestly. I've worked food service before and was fine but, this is a whole different level. My parents won't want me to self term till I have another job and I get that but, I don't even feel like I have time to find another job bc my schedule is so exhausting 😭. I also don't know where else to look? I'm planning to go back to school eventually but, I just need a money maker for the time being. Lastly, I am kind of going back and forth between waiting till training is done and working a few solo shifts just to try it and just terming now because I don't want to make the place complete my training and then quit shortly after. That's a lot of resources and energy into someone who might not stay. I'm trying to be respectful of the location's time and resources.

June 8th arrival 2nd fee due date

Has everyone with the June 8th arrival received the email about paying the second fee? Because I haven't gotten a single email about paying it and its not showing up as an activity on dorms. I'm just getting nervous that I missed the deadline or something.
