Dress Update!

I’m doing pretty good! Although, the one on the right is a bit loose, so I probably need to fix it…

I need help finding a Leighton Meester look a like doll.

So I recently purchased this 2011 SDCC Exclusive Green Lantern Carol Ferris movie doll in the likeness of Blake Lively with the hopes of making a custom doll of her character Serena van der Woodson in Gossip Girl to add to my collection, but I need help finding a good look-a-like doll for her character’s frenemy Blair Waldorf played by Leighton Meester. If I could get my hands on a brunette Argigi or Brigigi I would use one of them to portray her because they kind of resemble her to me, but they’re so hard to get when in stock plus a little pricey imo. Does anyone have any options for me? Sorry if I’m breaking any guidelines mentioning another doll line other than Barbie by Mattel.

Rerooted a doll using nylon cord from the dollar store

Pics 1-3 outdoor lighting, shade

Pics 4-5 outdoor lighting

Pic 6 is pre boil wash

Pic 7 is the strands to be rooted

Pic 8 is the original 8 strands from the braid

Pic 9 is the original nylon cord.

So I have actually done this before but never bothered to document it! This cord had 8 strands but others can have more or less. I separated each strand in half and rooted that (so 16 plugs/wefts per section of cord).

Then I glued, boil washed, brushed brushed brushed.

There are some empty holes but that is because I was trying a new glue and it didn't work as well as my usual glue. not the fault of the cord!

This is great if you have time and don't mind some fucking around, an entire reroot takes $1.50 worth of cord from Dollarama. I've also used nylon cord from Home Depot. If you use white nylon you can use synthetic dye and make whatever colour hair you want!

How to turn this ribbon into mini Barbie dress-sized bows?

I’m trying to turn this into bows for my Tea Party Erika’s ripped tulle, but I can’t seem to tie the bows, even with a fork…

…any advice?

Medieval Creature #2

Had fun creating this guy! Will probably add to him over time but this is it for now! Need to buy some more Apoxie sculpt to finish a lot of these guys up! What should we name their type of creature?

Doll repaint help??

Hello I’m very new to both reddit and doll collecting/customizing. Recently I tried to repaint a barbie doll to resemble a drow, but the paint keeps peeling and chipping off the body, is there a good primer or anything that would help?

Flexible sealants for vinyl dolls

I’m looking to customize vinyl doll heads, I know most people use MSC but I frequently change the heads of my dolls since the bodies I like are expensive, and I worry about the head cracking and chipping. I’ve done some research and it seems “testors dullcote spray lacquer” and “ the army painter anti shine matt varnish” have some flexibility while still helping to give the vinyl some tooth. I’d love to know if anyone’s has used these and what their experience is.

Did I screw up?

I’m trying to make a doll of Ellie from Tokyo Afterschool Summoners (who‘s gonna be my first) but I think I got in way over my head.

Most of the stuff I purchased at my trip to Michaels today was stuff to fix my Tea Party Erika (like ribbons) or tulle for another doll I want to fix up.

The only thing I got for Ellie was blonde yarn (since I forgot about the brown streak,) and I’m gonna need a lot of stuff (like watercolor pencils, tissues to help with face removal (since I’m struggling with it currently,) and stuff to make the wig/clothing/face.)

I think I got in WAY too over my head, and I don’t know what to do…

…any advice?

New Here, Customization Question?

TLDR: Can these RH legs be used on non-RH dolls? Thank you!

I am entirely new to customizing dolls, but have a small collection of Living Dead Dolls and Monster High which has led to a curiosity on making my own characters. My partner and I are chronic thrifters so I've tried my hand at restoring dolls, but this is a new area for me!

I've not been a big fan of the way Rainbow High Dolls look as a whole, BUT this line with the lava lamp legs is a cool look. I believe they're called sparkle and shine, but not the ones with glitter or slime.

I was curious if anyone here would know if the legs on these RH Dolls can be removed and if they're compatible with any other common doll brands (or less common)? I'm not sure how they're attached to the doll to know if removing them would damage the containment of the lava, let alone if they'd be a good candidate to combine with another doll. Figure this sub may be a good place to ask as presumably you lot are much more knowledgeable about what may be compatible as parts!

Found some fabric in my mom's basement and I feel there is a custom in my future

It may not be entirely screen accurate but I think it works (it's more of a Jem-pink in person)

Dr Grace Project Hail Mary (update)

Made a new set of clothes for my Ryland Grace as I didn’t like my first attempt of the pants, and I got a hold of some iron on vinyl to make the shirt print. Rocky is still coming, he’s just taking longer than planned!

My first Custom Blythe !!

I have been customizing Monster High and BJD dolls for 6 years, but this is my first custom Blythe (Won't be the last, these dolls are so special !), this is why the number "1" is painted on the back of her head.

Her name is Annie, she is a cheeky little redhead with freckles, and She really hopes that someone will adopt her.
