this might be a dumb question but if i was to make a doll based on a character from like an anime, movie, or game, could i face copyright strikes? even if i didnt sell the doll.
i already use good watered down paint. it isn't the paint. i use short brush, use long brush, no matter what i cannot keep my lines thin and controlled. the brush just goes all over the place. i cannot draw a good eye shape. forget about eyelashes that is not happening. in case you can't tell im very frustrated right now lol
Finally finished this buety. I take a lot of pride in the fact that I made all the clothes removable. I'm a little bummed that I couldnt make her a wig to give her interchangable hair, but i'm still really happy with it.
I'm considering selling/trading it due to lack of space and my own kitty being too much of a rascal to have it safely in the open and none of the glass cases i have have the space for a ft doll. Loved making this though 💕
I worked all day on sewing Clawdeen's new outfit!!! I made a few changes compared to the initial plan bc my technical abilities are still limited for sewing unfortunately... I will work on the repaints and re-roots later on, I am too scared of ruining the whole dolls yet! Also I will add some details to the shoes.

Biggest custom of my entire hobby. I bought this handless giant Rapunzel doll like 2 years ago and it took me a while to get this idea.
I'm really proud of the eyes and outfit. My first pair of socks was handmade but i spilled paint on them, so i put a pair of kids' socks on her. The hair took the longest bc the yarn wefts take forever to make
This was such a "trust the process" doll for me because i basically had to remake the leg and I realized just today that she had two left arms, thankfully not two left hands.
I really love how the earrings came out. I designed them to come off and maybe make an alternative outfit for her too, but right now i'm only planning to make her 13 wishes look
Her torso and lower legs sadly got warped from the heat when i dyed her and i wonder if there's anything i can do to fix it or should i just accept the flaw since she has knee high boots
Saw this video on tiktok and it really bothers me. The custom doll artist refused to make her eyes the right color because THEY couldn’t depart from the blue. My issue with this is the fact it’s a COMMISSION. If they were keeping the doll for themselves it wouldn’t be an issue. But someone is paying this person for this commission, and they’re not even going to bother making the eyes purple? It just looks incomplete. As a fellow artist, if someone commissions me to make something for them, I’m going to make sure it’s as close as possible to what they asked for. This person did not. And I personally would be pissed off.
This person is getting slammed in the comment section, and their defenses just make me even more frustrated. Just kinda wanted to vent because I know I would be mad if i was the commissioner.

I just got this draculaura secondhand and her head is covered in dark marks that weren’t in any of the sale photos! I tried using some acetone first because I’m planning on using her to practice face painting anyway and it did not remove or lighten the stains at all AND I don’t understand how but I discovered another faint mark underneath her lip paint. Will the hydrogen peroxide method I’ve heard about work for this? I don’t have any so I wanted to get some opinions before going out to buy anything
I finally finished Frankie's full outfit!! It took at least 10 hours total to make patterns with the trial-and-error method and sewing all these tinee-tiny details with an old lunatic sewing machine and not so much skills. It's far from perfection but I just tried my best and am happy with the result! ^^ Next doll restyle is Clawdeen's because I happen to have some scrap pieces of fabric that fits her aesthetic
Just wanted to share the process for my Pet Shop + LOL head swap! I modified the body a little by building paws behind the legs and covering the hands to make them into paws later. For the LPS head, I removed the neck hole part, cut out the LOL doll's one and squished it back into the LPS head them glued the edges and secured with some Milliput epoxy putty, so the head is posable! Hope this is clear enough if you want to try out this method
