Help! I'm rerooting a barbie for the first time. I had gotten all the hair out but now I see a lot of the holes where her bangs and part line used to be have gotten pretty enlarged.
Do i need to fill these holes with super glue and punch in new holes or can i get away with putting in a thicker bundle of hair into them? I have 0.6 mm and 0.8 mm rerooting needles. Thank you all!
Used a Millie sculpt to make this Kill Bill doll! My first ever Ooak, thinking of adding some blood for more realism. What do yall think?
Body base is a Rainbow High Sunny Madison doll. I hand sewed the dress and made her shoes from scratch. The bells hanging from her wrists were found in a charm store's rummage bin.
I’ve been wanting to get into this hobby for a while and finally made the jump! I painted my reptilian oc Lacerta onto a Create-A-Monster MH gorgon. The face sculpt really helped guide me. She did end up with a bit of a thousand yard stare 😩 but I can always repaint her in the future!
I have a couple of cheap dupes or characters I didnt really want and im becoming interested in this community so as a newb who's only watched videos what should I know?
Do I need special tools for rerooting? Is there a way to tie the hair? What glue do you use to set the hair?
What are the best tools for face ups?
What are some things to do or not to do when repainting?
Any other helpful tips are welcome, like telling material apart
Thanks!
One of my dolls eyelashes keep getting pushed back into her eyelid. How do I fix this?
Finished another doll relly love this one
I rerooted this frankie doll and realized too late that there was a tear in the hair part. I decided to just keep going and now it looks funky. Would it be better to just try and style the hair to disguise it or is there a way i can take out the hair without ruining it (i dont want to spend more money on hair 😭)
Any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated!
Just finished another girl what do you all think
Recently got Carina for my birthday and wanted to do something fun with her. Definitely the most time i've ever spent bedazzling something lol. Excited to practice it on new projects in the future!
Hi guys ! I managed to repaint my Peach Riot Poppy doll, as I bought her especially for this purpose ! Here is the after / before. Can’t wait to bring her with me as a travel buddy, and maybe give her some news clothes ✨
She's my first custom doll. Her skin is so dark that trying to use red, orange, and yellow on her makes the colors all wrong. I was using watercolor pencils, just drawing on her. Should I use chalk pastels or paint instead? Also, would y'all blush her with traditional colors like pinks? Or colors like purple and light blue? Any and all opinions and suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Any idea of paint i should use instead ???
And what do you think abt the eyes??
Howdy! I've spent the past week working on a custom doll of my VTM character. I've been using some chalk pastels and watercolor pencils. But I'm having a hard time lightening the whites of her eyes. I do have some Liquitex paint; should I use that to get her eyes completely white before adding on the irises, pupils, and shading with the watercolor pencils? I was also planning on using the paint to darken/detail out her eyebrows, hairline, beauty mark as well as outline her eyes. Any advice is appreciated! I'm using a G3 Nefera.
Hi!!
I’m currently working on a custom Rapunzel and I’ve run into a bit of a problem with choosing the body.
I really want to use a petite body for her. It’s actually quite important to me that the final doll has that smaller, more delicate body shape, so I’m trying to find a way to make a petite body work rather than simply choosing whichever body has the closest skin tone.
The BMR Kira body is pretty much the best match I’ve found for my Rapunzel, but buying one just for the body would cost me around $75, which is honestly way too much for a body 😭
I’ve also been considering the Barbie Looks #20 body and the petite Gloria body. The Gloria body is especially interesting to me bcause it gives me the petite proportions I really want, but the color isn't quite right. It’s not necessarily just that the body is “too light” — the tone/undertone is a little different from the head, and you can see the mismatch when they’re next to each other.
So I started wondering if I could just slightly adjust the color myself.
I definitely don't mean painting the entire body with an opaque layer of paint. I was thinking more about something very subtle, like a really thin “cloud” of color over the larger visible areas — especially the décolletage, shoulders and upper torso — just enough to bring the color a little closer to the head. The rest of the body wouldn't really need to be painted.
Has anyone here tried doing something like this on a Made to Move body? Does a very thin layer of paint actually hold up, or does it eventually crack/rub off because of the joints and movement?
And if you were in my situation, what would you do? Would you try to subtly adjust the color on the petite Gloria body, go with Looks #20, accept the color mismatch, or somehow justify spending $75 on BMR Kira? 😭
I’d really love to hear what you guys would do, especialy if you've actually experimented with repainting/color-matching MTM bodies!
Hello! I am new here, however I have seen many talented individuals share their custom doll pieces here, so decided to share mine! The base is a non branded doll, and I decided to make her with whatever materials I had lying around at home. Hence the ribbon hair. She does look cute tho!
I left the original screening and added to it with acrylic paint. 😊⚡️
