If a customer wants a name provided for them so they can report to corporate, am I allowed to not provide a name or do I have to provide one?

Hi, so I currently don’t have a manager and basically got thrown into the management position without knowing what the hell i am doing do i figured id ask you all, Penny items. Do i damage them out and toss them? Do i send them back to dc if so how the hell do i do that? I’m stressing out and my dm is no help whatsoever. i asked everyone else at my store and they said the last manager would just throw them away without damaging and idk if i should do that or not lol TIA

So today probably around 2:30 ish a customer came in and hit his vape, So I said okay cool maybe he was blowing it out from hitting it outside. I’m at the register I see him hit his vape again. Multiple times. And at that point I decide to say “hey can you please not hit your vape all through out the store next time please” and he said “ Excuse, I didn’t hit my fuckin vape” so I replied “ yeah you did I watched you do it multiple times” and he goes on to say “ Fuck you bitch no I didn’t” so I tell him to get out of my store and he continues to babble about how he’s gonna whoop my ass, So I walk behind the register towards the office to remove myself from the situation and the dude throws a Lemonade pitcher at me and hits me lmao. I clapped and said good job that’s assault. Then I go lock myself in the office because I’m not about to get killed for dollar general. I asked this dude nicely, And he was very belligerent about it, He had a crazy look like I don’t wanna deal with this shit today. There were people there and kids go in my store all the time. I’d rather them not vape in my store 🤷 sorry it’s state law.
End of my story. I’m an ASM. And that was the first time I’ve had to deal with that. I was an ASM at Casey’s and never had an issue. Why me 😂

Local DG has completely emptied their frozen food section. Asst Manager said they were in a “blackout week” and aren’t getting deliveries.

Yeah I turned in my keys after a rough start as a store manager. My DM told me when I was hired that I would have to replace almost all of my team members and she was right. I took the sites a month and a half out from inventory and my DM didn't bother to show up until a week out. I had cycled through two ft key holders and two pt key holders at that point. Chalk it up to bad talent in the area.

Soni hired from what I had and come truck day, I had four people scheduled to work 13 rolltainers. Except, my new lead keyholder claimed a seizure, my PT key took her to the hospital, and the cashier called in.. my t1 day is also my pday.

Man, I’m getting tired of being on the receiving end every single day about not putting up enough totes.

I work the register, so every time I start putting up two or three items, another customer walks in. Then one customer turns into a whole line, and I’m stuck at the register for 10 to 15 minutes or longer before I can even touch another tote.

But somehow, I’m still getting fussed at every day like I’m just standing around doing nothing.

Now they’re also getting on me about not straightening my 30-foot section and keeping it accessible. What really gets me is when I go to the back of the store, the aisles aren't swept or mopped half the time, and there’s stuff thrown in the wrong spots everywhere.

I’m not saying I don’t have responsibilities, I do what I can. But it feels like I’m being held to a completely different standard, even though my main job is taking care of customers at the register.

Anybody else deal with this at their store, or is it just me?

As per the title, my SM is on medical leave and I'm literally moving Wed-Fri to somewhere about 30 minutes away. I walk to work mind you. And a bus wouldn't really be an option for morning shifts and Ubers and lifts are like $30 ONE WAY. my roommate can pick me up when she gets off work but she goes in too early to take me to work as well and next week I'm scheduled 3 morning shifts. Opening. I let her know before she went on leave that I was moving and once I moved, I couldn't do mornings. I also kind of can't work with one of the racists (I may be white, but even I take offense at her calling our Hispanic customers "dirty") at my store cause I've stopped taking her BS and we now argue. So I messaged my manager about those 3 days and she just she's on leave so I'll have to find someone to swap or cover. But I genuinely wouldn't even know how to ask that in a way that's like,"hey, I can't spend the $90 it would take to come into these 3 shifts, could anyone swap? Also I can't work (employees name)" like I get this is a hole that was dug by me but I genuinely don't know what to do if no one can cover 🙃 I'm applying to other jobs and calling around but I haven't found another job yet

My manager dislikes me. It’s not even an I think anymore it’s real, I’m in school and I have another job at a local ice cream shop too that I’ve worked at for three years. My manager will not respond to my messages, when I have to find something out i usually find out from my co worker who is a key holder. I should not be receiving information from my coworker when I come to you for it. Nor should I be having to get a side eye from you when I walk in on a day off due to nothing I had control over.

My co worker has informed me that the store was closed multiple times when I haven’t heard a peep from my coworker, has informed me that I’m not able to punch in early, and many things that my manager should be informing me. And on top of that she has blatantly ignored my messages. If I were to show you my texts with her it would my walls of my text and one or two replies from her every five texts. Yes I may message a lot but I ask questions that I want to know from her and this is my first job that is for like an actual corporation.

My boss from the local ice cream shop shops at the dollar general, and had asked the assistant manager to talk really quick because I had requested off for a certain day (Thursdays) every week so I could work at the ice cream shop and train people there but repeatedly I had been scheduled over that day, my boss at the ice cream shop is also my friend mom so I’m alot more familiar with her. I at no point asked her to talk to my boss. She had asked me to give her number to my manager to talk to her and I didn’t think it was wrong so I sent that message(the message was blatantly ignored. No communication ever occurred between my two bosses) and so that’s why my boss asked to speak to the assistant manager, from what I was told about the conversation was she talked to the assistant manager about me requesting the days off and he claimed that I never did, which she knew was wrong because I did it infront of her, and I asked for her help to make sure I did it right and wrote politely the reason I needed it off and then said that they must have been scheduling over my request off, the assistant manager said it wasn’t even possible and my boss said well it must be if I was still being scheduled and then as far and I know the conversation ended there but they were both pretty upset and I suppose understandably so.

Fast forward to me coming into the store with my friend on a day off when my manager was working. I saw her and said hi, I in return for a dirty look and a very unpleasant “hey” in response so I quickly got my shopping done and I left. And then at a school event I got the story said above.

She already doesn’t care for me. She reiterates to a few people that I work slow and I need all my work checked and has called me “drama riddled” and said I plaid “childish games” when I went to a coworker for advice on what to do in a situation because my manager said a racist comment and was unpleasant to a costumer. I understand that may not be the best way to go about it but again it my first big corporation job and I was unsure if that was something to report.

She also sent me through flood water to pick up my coworker. The entire town was flooded and she made the decision to open the store. I suppose I’m asking if I should tough it out and such or quit and just work at the ice cream shop full time or find another place to work

This has been the worst company I have ever worked for. I got hired outside of the company to be ASM, I had 4 days of training and was thrown into the store by myself to open, nobody came in until 4:30 so I was there from 6-4:30. Not to mention the alarm code didn’t work so the cops showed up. Move to next day and same thing happened but this time the cops accused me of robbing the place 😐 I don’t even have any numbers to call and get a hold of anyone for help. I’ve never seen a company run so poorly in my entire life, I start a new job in a week but I feel so much better not being there anymore.
