I walked out on the 3rd. Told the Store Manager I was done with her lies and manipulation. I was tired of being willing to work Non stop but Constantly be told *just a cashier*.. i watched many things that were against the 'Code of Conduct' happening' and probably never be stopped. I saw gross health violations even tried to help fix and clean But was told I CLEANED TOO MUCH! The Meal worms and gnats are taking over the store.

Point to this, and the advice I want is what Now? I Never Wanted to quit. I love working and the customers. Why doesn't Anyone in the company Care about whats going on? The District Manager wouldn't even do anything!!

as the title reads, fresh didnt show up until 7:20pm last night which i can’t really get mad at the driver — he had an incident at the previous store with a rolltainer making a mess, but he left that store at around 4:30-4:45. our delivery window is 4-6pm.

my sm told me to refuse the truck because we close at 9pm, i only had one associate with me who was injured and couldn’t move from register and so i did . . because the truck wouldn’t have been unloaded until about 8pm or so. i did have an employee on call to come in but even with 2 people doing it together, it still takes a good 2+ hours on it. our trucks aren’t even that big (161) but it’s hot as hell in our store and i wasn’t going to pass out trying to get truck out in an hour. i don’t think it’s even possible.

regardless, the driver said he would have to call his boss who would call our dm or rm, as my dm is on vacation. needless to say, at around 8:45, i got a call from my rm bitching a fit because i refused the truck without her permission, who then tried to tell me that i could’ve gotten a 161 piece truck out in an hour, alone. like what?????

absolutely not, physically impossible to do. the asm at a neighboring store took 4 hours to do their fresh truck alone, as their sm instructed her to do it alone while her two coworkers were working dry truck. and even if i did make a dent in it, i would’ve prioritized fresh and there was absolutely no way the entire frozen uboat’s would fit in the backstock freezers.

just needed to vent about the whole situation, because that lady is absolutely insane for yelling at me over denying a truck that should’ve taken 45 to get to our store, what was he doing for over 2 and a half hours? i assume maybe traffic was bad as the previous store was only 30 minutes away from ours.

So I just started my own store officially yesterday. Well my asm has had an issue with me since I found out I was going to be her SM. So she took off last week and I had to train then close the store for 3 days. 6 am-10:15 everyday. She said it was personal issues and she was not in a good place. Ok, fine. I’m a team player so no problem.
Well then she sends me a text wanting her vacation the very next week. No notice, nothing. Ok. I’ll see what dm says. We actually worked it in. That pissed her off I guess so she has given her 2 weeks, last day would be last day of her vacation. She sent this to me, dm, rm. so then she started cussing a boy from my training manager’s store who came to help me with everything.
So I was told that she would need to go effective immediately. Not termed, still rehire able. She comes in with an attitude because I was getting my crew together and filled her position starting after her departure. She comes in mad as heck, threw her keys and said I had been wanting her gone. I haven’t said anything like that. I just don’t think she wanted to work with me or have to listen to my direction. Now she is terminated. Non hirable. How is this my fault? I’m not sure what she expected. Someone has to step up, store won’t close because she’s no longer there. It’s a mess. I have to hire a key, 2 cashiers and now an asm. Wish me luck. Interviews are Monday.

what do I search in the computer to find both the indoor and outdoor rugs / mats?? can’t seem to find them in the ordering system.

Since I know every blind spot and weakness in the store I have been cleaning house. Less than 30 days since I was fired and I’ve almost cleared 1k in merchandise. This is what happens when you shit on the people who actually came to work and did their job. My next move is showing all the blind spots and other security issues to the boosters in my area. I’m going to work on bumping up the stores loss by as much as I can.

I got fed up. I couldn't take it and reported the store I work. We have this electronic doorbell that sits at the registers that go off everytime a customer is there. It's to ensure the customer doesn't have to wait. We're expected to run back and fourth from the register to whatever else we're having to do that day. We get griped at for "camping at the register" so "we have to have the bell".

Anyway it's annoying as fuck. I feel it's made me psychotic . It's all I hear as I'm trying to fall asleep. I have fucked up my drawer due to it going off whilst checking out a customer (my fault I know) but I have told my manager it's extremely overstimulating while trying to focus on the customer and nothing has been done. Why does it need to ring when the customer IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME?

I expressed my feelings to my key holder today and he YELLED at me that he'd rather hear that then a customer shout "hey". Like whatever happened to a manual bell?! Anyway... I lost my shit and called corporate but fucked up giving them my phone # for call back... I was told my DM was called and they'd call me back... shiiiit. I feel bad because I did this knowing he's had 7 complaints against him the past year but he's also the only one that enforces the stupid ass bell.

That's all I have to say.

I hope I can get approved for a better job. I have put in so many applications just waiting till I can go.

Is there a way as an SM to change or work on your schedule from home?

I really don’t understand why line voids are even a big freaking deal compared to the litany of other issues our store and DG in general has, but I also felt like saying that half of the line voids that I have to do are because 75% of our products aren’t in the right place or priced correctly because SM doesn’t do a single planogram reset and doesn’t give a f&$/ and I fail to see how that’s my fault.
and we can’t use price checker anymore? Why in the hell not?? so I have to take the time to locate and sign into the handheld to check a price.

Hello, imma just go ahead and outright say that this could be completely blowing it out of proportion but today, July 4th around 9:15am I found an extra $10 in my drawer. I notified my store manager and the customer saw the extra 10 dollars, so I know I did not put it right there. My store manager said that it’s the five dollars missing from the deposit from last night. (This happens pretty frequently, so I didn’t bother asking tbh.) then we found a $20 bill in my five dollar stack as well. The customer said himself that he did not give me a 20 and not only that I just started my drawer and came in. I tell him that it seems very suspicious and he said the same thing and went to check cameras, now he’s walking off and acting like nothing happened? There has been another instance like this but an extra $20 bill????? That doesn’t sit right with me.

Basically as the title says, trying to prevent 5 cart fulls worth of stuff last time I went through all the dates... It was bad..

Ok so I ended up getting a part time key holder job here at my local dollar general I just wanted a few extra $ to pay my mortgage, but this is my second time stocking and I’m already getting coached that I’m supposed to be doing 1 rotainer per hour. I was stocking HABA and it’s very particular and a lot of small boxes i felt like I was going in a good pace but it really un-motivated me with the choice of words and tone my SM used to tell me that im not going fast enough. I feel like there’s better ways to coach people but it doesn’t seem like my SM has the Capability of it. I’m already looking for another job because this doesn’t seem like it’s going to go well. Thank you for hearing my rant.

My store manager recently was fired for theft. He stole $7,000 from deposit bags and several hundred from us his coworkers. He took hours we worked and added them to his. The DM came down with a few other people and fired him. He hasn't been charged yet, but I can see him getting some time fs.

So a lady came in to buy a fan tonight, mind you it's been 100+ here for a few days now so they're selling like hotcakes. Anyway,she said she didn't want her receipt so I threw it away. A few hours later they came back and the fan had been opened and had a crack in the blade. Per policy we cannot give exchanges or refunds without a receipt. She said she's either getting a new fan or her money or she's calling the cops. Idk what's going to happen but she demanded my name (just mine,not my managers) and I politely gave it to her. Let it be noted that I was courteous throughout the interaction.

So I work at Dollar General. First things first, middle of my shift, a guy started arguing with me because the Cash-app deposit he made wasn’t showing up in his app. I don’t fucking know. I’m not Cash-app. I just make your transaction. Call Cash-app. I can’t do shit about it. And then he made me dig through the trash for his receipt and I never found it.

Our store closes at ten. I started my cashier closing at 9:30 and never finished. There’s a basket full of go backs left. Never swept the store. We were packed with people until about 9:45. The line was all the way across the queue line. Luckily my key hadn’t counted down her til yet or I would’ve been stuck with that line by myself all the way until closing. It’s like, go home, why is everyone doing their shopping at 9:30 at night. This lady was holding up the line because she was asking a question about every deal and if it came off and didn’t even understand that some things weren’t on sale. Some other lady left a cart next to her car and when I went to go get it she looked me dead in the eyes and said, “It’s too hot. You’re younger than me, you get it.” I just shook my head and walked away. That’s so fucking ignorant. You walked all throughout the store, you can put it back. The cart drop off is right there next to your car.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, it did. That same lady was with this really heavy set guy, they rode together. He has to be at least 500 pounds, and he’s a regular. I have nothing against heavy set people, but I do when you’re an asshole. He OBLITERATED the fucking bathroom. My key told me to check it and see if it needs cleaned because he apparently always does, I’ve just never ran into it on my shift. The second I opened the door I started gagging. I’m not kidding. I had to step away because I started coughing and felt sick to my stomach to the point where I could puke. I ran out of there and started leaning over and coughing. HOW do you obliterate a bathroom THAT BAD to the point it makes me SICK?! How does ANYONE do that?! There was SHIT on the FLOOR, SHIT covered paper towels in the TRASH CAN, it wasn’t fully flushed, and I had to throw away a full roll of toilet paper because it was COVERED IN SHIT! What the actual FUCK!

I never finished my closing because I was stuck cleaning the bathroom. I had to wear a cleaning mask because I couldn’t breathe in there. I would’ve passed out without one. I could even smell it THROUGH the mask but at least it blocked out the smell good enough to where I could be in there to clean it. I currently have a headache as I type from how bad the smell was. It was as bad as when I had to clean up my dog’s diarrhea. Dog owners know that shit stinks BAD. We forgot about the sidewalk sale as well with all the chaos and had to unlock the doors to bring it in after my key finished counting down the money. You could tell neither of us gave a fuck at this point tonight because there was a rolltainer from outside left in the middle of the walkway, we left all the go backs, and she let me walk out with a yellow store bag.

To the former associate that sucked at their job and decided to have a piss-baby fit over getting fired: fuck you, you deserved it.

You will be forgotten, your story will not be told here to even give you validation that you made enough impact to warrant this because, at the end of the day, you’re a piece of shit that doesn’t deserve a second thought.

We all hate this company, we all do what we can to just make do with what we have at these stores, but YOU were the prick that wanted to do less but get praised.

How busy should I expect, I work from 2pm to 10:15pm and it's set to only be me and the Key Carrier on sight so 2 people all day for the most part.
