Seaver & Barstow Parking Lot

Lately, especially with the warmer weather, the parking lot has turned into a complete drug fueled garbage dump. Many of the homeless are running back and forth across the street yelling and screaming, littering everywhere. Has anyone else seen or experienced this? Police have been called multiple times (per the ECPD dispatch) on the problems around that parking lot and the Catholic Charities. The nuisance is growing and turning excessive.

Input Needed for Summer Guide

I wrote a summer guide for adults in the area and wanted to share it here (and get some local input).

I covered what felt like the heavy hitters: Blue Ox and Country Jam for festivals, The Brewing Projekt and Phoenix Taproom for the craft beer scene, The Joynt and The Fire House for dive bar energy, 3rd & Vine and Helix for the wine/cocktail crowd, Big Falls and Carson Park for outdoor stuff, and the free Thursday concerts at Phoenix Park.

Here’s the full thing: https://www.hillcrestestates.net/articles/best-things-to-do-this-summer-around-eau-claire-2026-adult-guide

But I know there are probably places I missed. What are some of your favorite places or things to do around the area that I should add?

Young professional relocating to Eau Claire — best apartments, safe areas & social & dating scene

Hi everyone! 😊

There’s a very strong chance I’ll be relocating to the Eau Claire area from Cincinnati soon for a Sales Manager role covering NW Wisconsin, so I’ve been deep-diving into apartments, neighborhoods, social groups, and honestly just trying to figure out where I’d realistically enjoy living long-term.

I’m a 36F young professional originally from the Cincinnati area. I’m also an EDM producer/DJ, super into fitness/wellness, coffee shops, brunch spots, music, fashion, creative spaces, etc. Social life is important to me, so I know I probably don’t want to go TOO rural or isolated.

That said, I’m also looking for a balance:

  • nightlife/social life nearby
  • young professionals
  • places to meet people organically BUT ALSO:
  • very quiet apartment
  • safe area
  • clean/well-maintained
  • secure building
  • preferably gated or very secure access
  • somewhere I can decompress after long work days/driving the territory

I’ve already joined some Eau Claire/WI social groups + EDM groups on Facebook and IG, but would love more recommendations for:

  • places to meet new friends
  • where young professionals in their 30s-40s hang out
  • fitness/wellness communities
  • music/creative scenes
  • coffee shops/bars/restaurants
  • places to meet nice single professional men because apparently I need help there too LOL 😅

Apartment-wise, I’m looking for:

  • studio or preferably 1 bed/1 bath (furnished, if possible)
  • elevator
  • secure/quiet building
  • clean + modern
  • washer/dryer in unit
  • balcony preferred
  • fitness center preferred
  • underground/garage parking preferred
  • close to coffee shops, gyms, restaurants, Target, etc.
  • more young professionals vs heavy college/student vibes

Here are some of the apartments I’ve already looked into:

  • The Cannery
  • Andante Apartments
  • Station 955
  • Paragon Apartments
  • Woodspire Apartments
  • Prairie Heights
  • The Current
  • Howard Apartments

I’ve heard mixed things about certain areas/buildings and wanted honest local opinions. Are there any of these you’d strongly recommend or avoid?

Also open to:

  • other apartment recommendations
  • “boujie” or more upscale areas/complexes
  • quieter but still social neighborhoods
  • safest areas for a single female professional
  • areas with more young professionals
  • places that feel safe/clean but still have energy

I’ve also seen people mention Graystone and Rooney being good management companies and warnings about Foxboro/Abode/Jcap. Curious if locals still feel the same way.

Would appreciate ANY insight on:

  • best areas to live
  • apartment experiences
  • dating/social life
  • winter reality 😭 (I currently live in Cincinnati, but have also lived in states where winter is a thing, like Chicago and KY.)
  • hidden gems
  • making friends in Eau Claire (nervous and anxious to start over again, since it's harder to make friends as you get older, but I'm excited for a new chapter in my life.)
  • things to know before moving

Thanks so much!!

Rollerblading/Skating

I'm looking for paved trails to rollerblade on. I would like to skate on those shaded by trees but it isn't necessary. Suggestions? I wouldn't mind traveling to nearby communities (less than 20 minutes away) if necessary.

Looking to connect with Eau Claire locals for Wisconsin documentary project

Hey all,

I’m a Wisconsin-based filmmaker currently in the Eau Claire area working on a documentary project exploring Wisconsin culture, traditions, and the places that bring people together.

Over the next couple of days I’ll be filming interviews with people/places including writers, bar owners and the Chippewa Area History Center.

One thing I’m especially interested in is the role local taverns and gathering places play in everyday Wisconsin life. I’d love to connect with anyone who has a favorite Eau Claire/Chippewa Valley bar or tavern they feel really captures the spirit or personality of the area.

Not looking for “wild drinking stories” — more interested in the people, atmosphere, traditions, regulars, conversations, sense of community, etc.

If that sounds like your kind of place (or your kind of perspective), feel free to message me.

Thank you

Looking for recommendations for a good company for a new furnace/AC

Seeing as its impossible to get pricing on how much a new furnace or AC cost without having to contact companies, I figured I'd see what suggestions are out there for good HVAC companies and go from there.

Roofing Advice

Sorry this will be long, but I’m about to embark on an expensive journey and need advice!

We recently met with a salesman from Rock & Tait about some possible damage to our roof.
He did find hail damage so we decided to submit a claim with our insurance company. Regardless of whether or not the insurance claim gets approved, there are spots on the roof that need repair (smaller job that we will pay out of pocket for). With that being said, I have a few questions I’m hoping my fellow locals can help with.

  1. The gentleman from Rock & Tait said that he would meet with the insurance adjuster to show them his findings and if the insurance company did end up denying our claim, he would help with an appeal. I thought this was very nice, but is this standard practice for most roofing companies?

  2. The insurance adjuster/sales rep are coming on Friday to look things over. At this point, it’s probably too late to get other estimates (although, I haven’t gotten an estimate from Rock & Tait either). Have I made a mistake?!

  3. If the claim gets approved, will the insurance company require me to get multiple quotes? I ask this because Rock & Tait wants us to sign a contract. I have not read it yet, but I think its essentially saying that we must use them if we have any work done. If they are sending someone out to advocate for us with the insurance adjuster and will help file an appeal if necessary, this doesn’t seem umreasonable, but maybe I’m missing something?

  4. Has anyone had any first hand experience with Rock & Tait doing work on your house? Are they generally competatively priced? More expensive than others?

  5. Any recommendations for us during this process? Money is tight and we don’t have room to make a mistake! I got a good vibe from the guy from Rock & Tait, but I don’t want to go on feelings alone.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer in helping us make an informed decision!

Amazon Warehouse

I was offered a job at Amazon with a start date of May 21st. I had previously applied and it says my drug test, background and I-9 forms are already submitted from the prior hiring process.

But it is saying that I can't order my work shoes "until screenings are completed" I was wondering if anybody could tell me if I still have to go in to retake the screenings and if so. If they are by walk in. I can't find any information in the "my jobs"

Thanks for any help.
