She is a brunette? 🫣

For her audition tape and role preparation to become Elle Woods in the Prime Video series Elle, natural brunette Lexi Minetree spent six and a half hours in the chair for the initial color-correcting process to achieve her signature blonde shade

This show is not really 90's socially just has a lot of denim.

I just don't think it's 90's enough it feels very Gen z, without cell phones. It was a very difficult time to be different, rather that's gender, sexual orientation or race but they are portraying it like everyone is cool with everyone that's not even remotely how it was for ppl in school. Even in 90-00's movies they weren't afraid to show how bullying really was. Maybe the creators didn't want to go that hard into the racial and gender issues. Play it safe to get ppl from younger gens watching. So it's more like going to HS now and less like the anxiety of really being different back then. I think it's a Gen z show with denim and plaid and someone's bad 90's Spotify playlist. Also, I did watch it all, I don't believe in judging something that you don't see for yourself. At the end of it all I think nope try again in another 20yrs.

This show doesn’t even make sense

I’ve not completed it yet, but ok it’s so not actually set in the 90’s, (ie “nobody checks email anymore” uhh email was the new crazy technology in the 90’s everyone was always on their email). It’s like they’re pretending they’re pretending it’s the 90’s it’s really really odd and takes me too out of it.

Elle is learning all the lessons she learned in legally blonde… but like before legally blonde so what why how does she learn all these lessons yet again after going through college as a ditzy blonde sorority girl? She has no recollection of being torn from LA and spit into Seattle and rejected / finding her place / proving herself?

And why is her mom so involved in her life, I thought her mom was a rich wine/xanax mom that paid 0 attention to her child - not necessarily in a bad way as clearly Elle was still taken care of via money, but definitely not the kind of mom who’s going to help their child revive their high school, talk to them every single day, have heart to heart discussions etc.

This show makes no sense in connection with the movie, I don’t get why it was made at all this way. I was expecting more of a mean girls type of thing where maybe Elle and her friends (in LA) learn to accept the outsider new kid from Seattle, or something like that, which wouldn’t totally disrupt the sensical timeline of events from before college to after college.

How similar is the show to the movie?

I haven't seen the show yet, I'm interested but from the trailer the plot looks like it's exactly the same thing as the movie; Ellie goes to a school, is judged and underestimated for how girly she is, and in the end proves she's capable and there's nothing wrong with being into her femininity.

Anyway, question is, is it really like the trailers marketed it, or is it not at all like the movie? Asking bc as much as I love the movie I'm not interested in watching the same plot twice, especially bc it would annoy me since it would make the movie redundant if Ellie is going through the same experiences.

Wednesday vs Elle

I was thinking recently, and I'm convinced: Elle is the Prime's Wednesday.

Think about it.

Both took from well known movies, same start since they both start a new school, same boy dilemma.

Probably not the first to notice, and an useless post, but since I have found nothing on the internet I wanted to point it out.

That's all, have a good day :)
