Looking for clarity

I have a letter from my doctor saying that having an esa would help me.

I live in Wisconsin, I read online I dont need to register my cat as an esa but after looking again last night it says something completely different. I'm worried that there is something that I'm missing and I'm going to loose my cat.

Thank you in advance,

Sorry for typos I'm very tired,

Blatantly denied because an ESA.

Hello!

Location: Oregon

This is happening in real time, just looking for others opinions.

I am a disabled veteran and I recently applied for a house in north bend Oregon. I currently live in Corvallis Oregon. I called the rental company, which was just finding a renter for the owner. Me and my partner applied and marked that we have no pets. I scheduled a time to come down, which is a near 3 hour drive one way, and once getting into their office I said I am here to deliver my check for first months rent and deposit, sign any paperwork and I’d like to submit our paperwork for our ESA’s. The tension instantly was felt. The agent handed me her business card to show me the email to send it to and I did so. The agent then continued to have us sign all paperwork while telling us that she knew the owner wasn’t going to be happy about us having ESA’s and then taking us to show us the house that we hadn’t seen yet so we could start mapping out our new house. She also felt the need to tell me how she was uncomfortable about the fact that I made her lie to the owners because I didn’t disclose my ESA’s and so she told them I didn’t have any pets. Next day I’m going about my business starting to pack up my house and I’m not expecting any problems but come around 3-4 I check my email and I get an email explicitly stating that the owner is retroactively denying me because of my dishonesty. I keep it cool and I reply that I know that I am within my rights and if needed I can contact the appropriate authorities tomorrow (today) if needed. This morning I received another email from a second agent at their agency stating they are not denying me because I have an ESA but rather because I did not disclose it on my application. There are many other small nuances to this story to make it even more wild as well… Obviously this agency is filled with people who don’t know their laws or expect their customers to not protect themselves and are just so confident they are right.

I have already spoken with FHCO and they were baffled that they would actually put that reason for denying me in writing. I have expressed to them that I do not want to live in that residence anymore and that I want to get money for fixed costs of moving into whatever other residence I can find, potential emergency moving costs and/or needing to store my belongings and live in a hotel until we can find one as well as non-economic damages (emotional damages). I am a 100% disabled combat veteran who completely within my rights requested to have my ESA’s and instead of trying to find a legal wrap around to try and tell me no they instantly went to calling me dishonest and even backed it up in a second email from a second agent.

This has now caused me to scramble to find another home because they denied me for not disclosing my ESA until being there in person. Knowing I’m a disabled veteran, knowing that I had to get out of my place by the 20th, knowing that the housing market in the area is small and us finding a house that we actually approve of and want to live in is hard…

What can I do here??

Looking to get ESA for dorm

Hello! I am planning on adopting a sweet kitty for my dorm as an ESA. I have had ongoing issues with my college not giving me accommodations due to my doctors and therapists going away and not having long-term relationships with me.
I am planning to work with a psychiatrist in 4 or so sessions to talk about an ESA letter, will this be enough time for her to write the letter, and will the school accept a letter from a psychiatrist who does not have months of experience with me? I only have limited time and I’m so worried it won’t work out.

The rental application at a place I am applying for specifically asks “Do you gave Pet(s) or assistance animal(s)?”

All the advice I have seen is to not disclose until after your application is approved and before you sign…since they specifically asked, am I compelled to disclose this?

Best ESA Letter Websites (RealESALetter)? How to Get a Legitimate Emotional Support Animal Letter

I’ve been doing a lot of research trying to figure out the best ESA letter website and the right way to get a legitimate emotional support animal (ESA) letter.

My apartment recently informed me that I’ll need to provide an ESA letter or start paying a fairly expensive monthly pet fee. Since an emotional support animal would genuinely help me, I want to make sure I go through the proper process and obtain a legitimate letter from a licensed professional for my 10-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog.

The problem is that there are so many ESA websites online that it’s difficult to tell which ones are reputable and which are simply selling paperwork without a proper evaluation.

I’ve looked into several providers and, based on the reviews I’ve read, RealESALetter appears to be one of the more highly rated options. I also noticed it has a BBB A+ rating, which gave me some confidence, but I’d still like to hear real experiences from people who have actually used it or other services.

For those who have gone through the process:

  • What do you consider the best ESA letter website?
  • Which services are legitimate and involve a real evaluation by a licensed mental health professional?
  • Were there any providers you would recommend or avoid?
  • How was your experience with landlord verification, if applicable?

I’m looking for something legal, reliable, and stress-free. My goal is simply to get a legitimate ESA letter that meets housing requirements and won’t create issues down the road.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations or advice!

EDIT: Just to clarify, I’m not trying to game the system or avoid fees without a legitimate reason. I’m only interested in obtaining an ESA letter through a proper evaluation with a licensed mental health professional and want to avoid any letter mills or questionable services.

Petscreening process, 2 ESA

Just wanted to put this out there in case others have questions about the process. Here's what I've gotten so far:

1st response after submitting letter from GP for 2 ESA:

Your accommodation request for an assistance animal needs more information to continue with our review. Our review team has provided details in the Comment History at the top of your Assistance Animal profile.

Thank you for your request for accommodation. We are requesting supplemental information to proceed with our assessment of your request as follows:

Before we can move forward with your request, we need a little more information from your healthcare provider. When asking for more than one support animal, your documentation should include the following information:

Proof of Disability: A note confirming that you have a disability (defined as “a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities”)

The Number of Animals: Exactly how many animals your doctor says you need to help with your health.

The reason why: An explanation of why the patient's disability-related needs cannot be met through fewer than the number of animals prescribed.

Right now, your paperwork covers Point(s) #1, but it is missing information for Point(s) #2 and 3.

Next Steps:

Please talk to your healthcare provider and ask for an updated letter that includes the missing information. You do not need a separate letter for each animal; one letter that covers everything is fine.

2nd email after submitting amended ESA letter:

Your profile's status has been updated from Reviewing to Verifying. This means the request has been deemed to have met the HUD guidelines by the Assistance Animal Review Team, and now they are in the process of reaching out to the medical provider to confirm the authenticity of the accompanying documentation. As standard practice in our reviews for support animals, we contact medical/healthcare providers by email, fax, or phone to authenticate documentation submitted to us by the animal owner (Requester). Our purpose is simply, and only, to confirm the validity of the letter; that is, we ask "Did you issue the letter dated ___ on behalf of ____?". We do not ask about the Requester's condition, treatment, or any other information related to the specific nature of his/her disability.

** Will update if any new response from them
