MAA denied my ESA application

I’m looking for advice from anyone familiar with the Fair Housing Act, ESAs, or MAA apartments.

I submitted documentation from my therapist requesting an accommodation for my ESA and a waiver of the pet fees. This is a therapist I’ve worked with consistently for 4 years.

This is NOT someone I found online for a one-time ESA letter. I’ve also never had an issue having these fees waived at previous apartments.

I completely understand the purpose of stricter documentation requirements is to prevent people from getting generic ESA letters online just to avoid pet fees. That’s not my situation, which is why I’m confused by MAA’s response.

My therapist feels that some of MAA’s wording is essentially semantics/a trap, particularly their statement that “paying the fees does not hinder my ability to use and enjoy the space.” They are using that reasoning to deny the accommodation.

I also understand that there were changes to HUD/Fair Housing guidance in** **May 2026, so I’m trying to make sure I’m not relying on outdated information.

I’ll attach the documentation my therapist submitted and MAA’s response. Is this a legitimate basis for denying an ESA accommodation, or is MAA essentially using the wording of its questions to create a reason to deny it? I’d especially appreciate input from anyone familiar with the current 2026 HUD/FHA rules or MAA’s process.

My honest experience as an Oracle SDR (1 year) — Pros & Cons

I just wrapped up my last week as an Oracle SDR and wanted to share my experience for anyone considering the role. This is only my experience, and yours could be completely different depending on your org, manager, and timing.
Pros
Strong resume recognition and a respected brand.
Great exposure to enterprise tech, cloud, AI, and business concepts.
Solid onboarding/training for learning Oracle and the industry.
Excellent benefits, PTO, paid lunch, hybrid schedule, and a nice office.
I had fantastic local leadership and an amazing manager.
Good incentives depending on performance (WFH, flex days, leaving early, etc.).
You’ll become very adaptable because change is constant.
Cons
Expect frequent reorganizations. Teams, managers, territories, products, and even your job responsibilities can change every quarter.
There can be long periods during transitions where you have little or no work while waiting for new territories or direction. Getting paid to do nothing sounds nice, but it can make you feel like your sales skills are stagnating.
Internal promotion is heavily relationship-based. Networking with hiring managers is essential, and timing often matters as much as performance.
I experienced a cliquey/“mean girl” culture at times, although that will vary by office and team.
Depending on your organization, you may spend significant time on initiatives like AI adoption campaigns rather than traditional SDR prospecting. As a result, some people may get less cold-calling and prospecting experience than peers at other companies.
Overall
I’m genuinely glad I took the job. Oracle gave me a recognizable name on my resume, taught me a ton about enterprise technology, and forced me to become comfortable with constant change. It also helped me land my next role as an Account Executive.
That said, if your goal is to become the strongest possible SDR, your experience may vary depending on where you’re placed. Some of my friends at smaller companies developed much stronger prospecting skills simply because they spent two years consistently cold calling and building pipeline, while I had periods of downtime and quarters focused primarily on AI marketing initiatives.
If you’re considering Oracle, I’d think of it as an excellent place to learn enterprise tech and build your resume—but not necessarily the “typical” SDR experience.
Happy to answer any questions about training, compensation, culture, day-to-day work, or the interview process.

Asian inspired ground beef and Portobello mushrooms over white rice

SKIP IF YOU DONT CARE ABOUT WHY I MADE THIS. THIS IS THE REDDIT EQUIVALENT OF WHEN A RECIPE ON A WEBSITE HAS A FIVE PARAGRAPH ESSAY BEFORE THEY GET TO THE RECIPE: Doesn’t look appetizing now that I’ve dug into it haha but I threw this together on the fly when I had a lb of ground beef that needed to be cooked and 4 portobello mushrooms I got from a Whole Foods too good to go bag. I HATEEEEE mushrooms, But didn’t want them to go to waste and was well overdue for a vegetable. I googled how to disguise mushrooms and saw you can use a food processor to grind them up and cook with ground beef. This is an Asian inspired ground beef and mushroom over white rice PERFECT IF YOU HATE MUSHROOMS BUT WANT ADDED PROTEIN AND FIBER!!!

Ingredients:

4 portobello mushroom heads
Garlic
Ginger
(Raw, fresh, ground, frozen, whatever)
Onion powder
Soy sauce
Salt
Sesame oil
Brown sugar
Crunchy chili crisp
1 lb ground beef

OPTIONAL: kewpie mayo and Sriracha to top, I bet green onions and/or cilantro would be good too.

Also I’m sorry if this is already a recipe I swear I just googled once and then threw it together😭

Finely chop or use a food processor on the mushrooms until pretty fine but not a paste, the best thing to compare it to is slightly bigger than cooked ground beef, they shrink when they cook down.

Sauté mushrooms in neutral oil and salt until all water evaporates WARNING THIS SMELLS DISGUSTING cook for a few minutes until water evaporates and mushrooms crisp up a bit. You can leave them for a few min at a time and push them around. I cooked on medium to high heat, high heat towards the end.

Once the mushrooms had no water, I added my ground beef and cooked as usual until brown.

Once ground beef is cooked, add about an 1/8th of a cup of soy sauce? I just eyeballed it.

I cooked that down and added some frozen ginger and garlic cubes (1 ginger, 2 garlic), and onion powder. I feel like the onion powder added great flavor and a touch of sweetness.

Then I added a 1/2 teaspoon of crunchy chilli crisps and some a tablespoon (maybe two I eyeballed it) brown sugar.

I topped it all off with about a tablespoon of sesame oil. I continued to cook and stir for a decent amount of time when adding all of the condiments.

I topped it with some kewpie mayo and sirracha and it completely made the dish. Will def make this again!

I’ve been dealing with the same cycle of acne on and off for about 6 years now. I’m currently 6 months into Winlevi and tretinoin 0.025%, and while I’ve seen some improvement, I’m honestly exhausted. Part of me keeps thinking if I just stick it out longer or increase tret, maybe this will finally clear, but at the same time Accutane has been an option for me this whole time. After going back and forth for years and trying to fix the “root cause,” I finally made an appointment for tomorrow morning to start the Accutane process.

Fitness: I love walking and running, and I’m worried about joint pain or fatigue affecting that
Summer and sun: I live in a hot, sunny state and spend a lot of time outside at the pool, beach, and on walks. I’m nervous about sun sensitivity and feeling like I have to stay inside all summer
Social life: I don’t want to feel limited or isolated during treatment, especially since I’m in a new city and still forming friendships

Most of all, I’m worried that after all this because it’s “hormonal”, it won’t even work and I could have lasting bad side effects after treatment and still have acne. I’ve heard some people say it was the best decision they’ve ever made and others say after two courses they still have acne.

I’ve gotten compliments on my skin improving with topicals, and makeup sits pretty well now, but I still fixate on my acne every time I look in the mirror. I genuinely can’t remember the last time I felt fully confident in my skin.

If you had similar persistent acne, was Accutane worth it for you? How bad was sun sensitivity in reality? Were you still able to enjoy summer with precautions? Did joint pain or fatigue affect your ability to stay active? Any tips for balancing treatment with an active and social lifestyle?
I think I’m ready to do this, I’m just scared and would really appreciate hearing from people who’ve been in a similar position.

Genuinely, thank you so much for any advice or support. Thank you.
