there’s a couple girls I consistently see at the gym that I’ve been dying to chat with more. I haven’t gotten past the smile and say hi phase but I’d really like to make/meet more girls who are into fitness.
Ladies, How would or do you approach other women at he gym when trying to befriend them?
I’m new to Equinox, and one of the things that made me want to sign up was how flexible the class booking policy was, especially since I have a job with unpredictable hours.
Going from a 5-minute cancellation window to 90 minutes feels like a pretty significant change. I completely understand having a cancellation policy, but 90 minutes makes it much harder to book classes when you’re not sure exactly when you’ll be able to leave work.
Does anyone else feel the same way? If enough members do, I wonder if there’s a way we could collectively ask Equinox to reconsider the policy — either reverting to the old one or finding a middle ground, like 30 minutes.
Not sure what the best way to do that would be, but I’d definitely be interested in organizing something if there’s enough support.
I’ve noticed the Equinox Seattle location seems to be slipping lately, especially considering what we’re paying for the membership.
Last night there were no towels at the rack, and when I went to shower, there was no body wash in the stall. I ended up checking five different shower stalls just to find one with a tiny bit of body wash left.
I know these are small things individually, but at Equinox’s price point, having clean towels and stocked shower products feels like the bare minimum. Part of what you’re paying a premium for is not having to think about this stuff.
I’ve noticed the overall attention to detail hasn’t felt as consistent lately either.
For anyone else who goes to Equinox Seattle: have you noticed the same decline, or did I just catch them on a particularly bad day?
How’s is the Dallas location open til 11 vs NYC 9-10 pm?!

Every so often someone will post saying they wish Equinox felt a little more social and community-oriented, or ask for how to make friends in classes.
I know a lot of people prefer to just focus on their workouts, but I was thinking for those of us who would like to meet more people at the gym, perhaps we could organize something unofficially?
Open to any creative ideas people have, but I was thinking perhaps

This one dude is just sitting there telling everyone who comes by that he’s waiting for the next one and trying to intercept them from checking if there’s one available. I told him he could click it before me if he saw me coming but he can’t just sit there and gatekeep the chargers or tell people what to do. Then he starts cussing at me. None were charged anyways and I found my own in my backpack but he was being super annoying and disrespectful. Should I bring something up to the front desk? Especially because I’ve seen him do it to a few other people too.
Please, let me rant because how do people not know to use towels uber their bodies?? Sweating directly on the bench is gross and so so disgusting. Why do people come with their dirty ass shoes on I’m full gym gear?
Or just use whatever is there? My club only has one and it is falling apart.
This is sort of a random question, but why are certain NYC locations only All Access ($350) while some offer the single club access membership ($300)? I know some of them have fancy amenities, but clubs like Flatiron (only All Access as base) vs Gramercy (single club access offered) are a few blocks from each other and are different, but Flatiron doesn't have any more amenities than Gramercy.
And then the same goes for Printing House that has nice amenities like the pool but does offer a $300 single club access fee?
On top of that, why is Gramercy $280 for single club access, Tribeca is $260, and Orchard St is $300, but all 3 have the same amenities?
Appreciate any responses from somebody who understands this more than me!

Longtime and proud Equinox member. Just learned my favorite instructor is moving to competition in the same city. A bit dismayed. No interest in switching gyms at this point but also have no idea how to fill out roughly 50% of my classes when there are few equivalent good options.
How have you navigated it? Have you seen people follow an instructor to a new club? Have you taken a wait and see approach? Do you see this happening by you?

I work out at the equinox in dumbo and have noticed a man on multiple occasions wearing the Meta Oakley sunglasses while working out. Anyone else think it’s creepy that we won’t know if we’re being recorded in the gym? Not to mention who knows if he’s wearing them in the change room?? If he wanted to record himself he could set up his phone to only record himself but that’s clearly not what’s happening.
I emailed the general manager multiple times to ask about equinox’s policy on Meta glasses and never heard back, even acknowledging my concern. Pretty unprofessional given the cost of a membership.
Was quoted $425 for membership at the Hudson Yards location with a corporate rate. I just checked online and see that the regular monthly rate is $430, so thats not much of a discount. Is this typical? And is their negotiating power?

Not so much the classes, equipment, etc. But more how you are greeted, how complaints are handled, how problems are anticipated, etc.
Basically how much of the human experience is five star?
What grade would you give your club(s) on a scale of 60 (Fail) up to 95 (A+)?
I’m wondering if there’s a “best time” to switch to All Access. I’ve had a single-club membership for the past few years and it’s been fine since there’s only one or two locations in my city & when I travel, I don’t really gravitate toward working out at Equinox.
I’m moving to NYC in a few months, and figured All Access would probably make more sense since there are multiple locations there. I know I wouldn’t have access to the Destination clubs, but I’d still be able to use Equinox when I’m back home for extended periods.
Is there usually a good time to make the switch? I know around Black Friday/end of year they tend to have pretty good deals for new members. Do they ever offer similar incentives for existing members to upgrade ?
